We contracted with Ms*** to replace her roof last yearWe did believe the roof to have a minor sagging af the front porchRepairs to
this were not included in the contractUpon beginning the work we discovered additional structural damageWe shingled over the roof as we did not want to leave the home exposed to the elementsWe had a separate subcontractor look at the issues and estimated the cost of structural repairs to be $We sent this estimate to Ms*** and did not hear backAgain, we stress this was not part of our contractWe accepted, per the contract, the first amount paid by the insurance companyThere is still a remaining balance due to us per our contract with Ms***We expressed that we would take care of any shingle replacement after the structural repairs were made at no cost to herWe were doing multiple jobs in her location and contacted her to assist her with the hail damage issueWe stand behind our work and do want to help her out

We were unaware of the issue until notified by Revdex.com. We would be glad to investigate the issue if a time can be set for us to do so with the current resident.

The leak is not a roof issue but a stone infiltration issue. We have tested the area with a hose and the leak only occurs when the stone is hit with water not the roof or flashing. The only solution we have discussed is removing all of the stone...

and sealing the framing members. This not a roof issue. We have discussed this with the homeowner. This is the only true solution to the issue
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2016/05/27) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Infiltration does penetrates stacked stone. This is true on any stacked stone application. This is also why stacked Stone applications have water proofing behind the stone. However, the cause for infiltration is due the "new" flashing system that was attempted to be "spliced" into the already existing water proofing.
The infiltration was cause by poor application /workmanship during the install.
Home Solutions removed about 18" of Stone off the Chimney during install.
That is where water infiltrates. (I can supply pictures during the install if needed)
During installation if home solutions had informed me that they could not properly install the Chimney flashing and not create a possible leak we could have looked at other options.
Home solutions had stated that they would remove stone from Chimney install flashing. Once the new flashing was installed a stone mason would reinstall the stone. I was also informed to go an select new stone to replace the stone that was removed. I did go select new stone and supply all the information for that material. However new stone was never used so I assume they used the existing removed stone.
Testing
Testing was performed over 6 months ago.
The water test was done on the flashing.
Beginning at the bottom and moved up the Chimney.
Once he got slightly above where the start of the new flashing spliced in flashing the leak occurred.
(pictures available)
I showed the guys where the water enters the structure and he said, yes he also believes that is where the leak is coming from.
He stated to me, he was only instructed to test the leak and to spray a sealing solution on the stone.
He also told me that he would leave the blue tarp in place, as the stone sealing would not stop the leak.
He then told me he would speak to Jason P[redacted] about what he had seen.
From what Home Solutions is stating.
If the only solution is removing all of the stone and seal the framing members.
Why was this not an option and/or brought to my attention during the installation. It is important to remember the chimney/ stone did not leak before the new installed flashing.
Why has a price to resolve has not been given to me. Why have I not been contacted?
