PURCHASED ITEM FOR MY MOTHER ONLY TO FIND OUT MY BROTHER HAD ALREADY PURCHASED ONE FOR HER. I TRIED TO RETURN ITEM AND OWNER REFUSED TO GIVE REFUND.I STOPPED BY THIS PHARMACY ON 9/5/16 TO PURCHASE A RAISED TOILET SEAT FOR MY MOTHER. I SPOKE TO MY BROTHER FOLLOWING THE PURCHASE AND HE ADVISED OF HAVING ALREADY PURCHASED ONE FOR HER. I PROMPTLY RETURNED TO THE PHARMACY APPROXIMATELY 20 MINUTES LATER TO RETURN THE CAREX RAISED TOILET SEAT AND GET THE $40.11 REFUNDED BACK TO MY VISA CARD, BUT WAS TOLD BY SOMEONE WHO CLAIMED TO BE THE OWNER (ALTHOUGH HE REFUSED TO GIVE ME HIS NAME OR VERIFY THIS FACT) THAT THEY DID NOT GIVE REFUNDS FOR TOILETING ITEMS. I TRIED TO EXPLAIN TO HIM THAT I HAD JUST PURCHASED THE ITEM LESS THAN 30 MINUTES AGO AND HE SAID HE DID NOT CARE, THAT WAS THEIR POLICY AND HE DID NOT HAVE TO GIVE ME A REFUND. HE ALSO SAID THAT SUCH POLICY WAS POSTED AT THE REGISTER WHERE THE TRANSACTION TOOK PLACE SO I PROCEEDED TO THAT REGISTER TO VIEW THE POSTED POLICY (I RECORDED ON MY PHONE THE WHOLE COUNTERTOP AND THE WALL BEHIND THE COUNTER TRYING TO LOCATE THE NOTE), BUT THERE WAS NO POSTED POLICY OF ANY KIND STATING WHAT HE PROCLAIMED. HE WENT TO THE REGISTER AND ATTEMPTED TO LOCATE THE POSTED POLICY AS WELL, BUT HE COULD NOT FIND THE POSTED POLICY EVEN THOUGH HE WAS ADAMANT THAT IT WAS THERE. I CALLED GREENVILLE POLICE B/C I FELT IT WAS AN UNLAWFUL PRACTICE BUT WHEN THEY ARRIVED, THEY SAID THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. THE GENTLEMAN THAT STATED HE WAS THE OWNER TOLD THE POLICE OFFICER THAT HE WANTED ME REMOVED FROM THE STORE AND REFUSED TO EVEN TALK TO ME SO I LEFT THE STORE.Desired SettlementI WANT THE $40.11 REFUNDED BACK TO MY CREDIT CARD AND I HAVE NO PROBLEM RETURNING THE RAISED TOILET SEAT TO THEM. I DO NOT WANT A STORE CREDIT B/C I WILL NEVER SPEND MY MONEY IN THIS STORE NOR WILL I EVER STEP FOOT IN THIS STORE AGAIN.Business Response Our policy since opening for 15 years is that we do not accept returns on bathroom fixtures because of the personal hygiene and contamination nature of these products. This is the standard of practice of our business. Though not required we had posted this policy, but the notice had somehow been removed because of our using that and other easels to post a recent short term public service notice. We know that no one purchasing such an item as a raised toilet seat would be pleased if it were a retuned item that had been removed from the store. The individual that addressed the issue on that date was the owner and never refused to give his name. The only reason this individual was requested to be removed from the pharmacy was due to her foul language which the owner asked her to refrain from using. Consumer Response If that is the policy, the store should had made me aware of this before I purchased the item and at least at that time, I would be able to decide whether I wanted to purchase it or not. I returned to the store within 20 to 30 minutes of purchasing the item and the box was never even opened in that short amount of time. This may have been your policy for over 15 years, BUT this was my first time ever even stepping foot into your establishment. The statement about the owner never refusing to give his name is a BLATANT lie!! When I asked the name of the owner, I was told that he was the owner, but when asked his name, he walked off. It is my goal to make EVERYBODY that I come in contact with aware of the situation I had to endure in hopes of their NEVER patronizing this business establishment!! I hope you enjoy the $41.00+ I spent in your store, but it will definitely be the LAST!!!Final Business Response My position has not changed. It is unfortunate that this party does not understand that this policy is for the good of the public hygiene and that she turned to vulgar, obscene language on our premises to try to sway us to a position not conducive to the public interest.
