The...

service was not completed.1. The workers who came to the house appeared to be subcontractors of subcontractors of subcontractors of Home Visions. One of them seemed to have some roofer's skills, but they did not know what needed to be done and were completely unprepared for the repairs. They asked us if Home Visions had left any extra of the original shingles, which sure enough, they had not. My understanding is that the leak was at the area where the roof of the deck enclosure and wall of the house meet. That was where the worker started attempting to fix the problem. But instead of doing so, he just covered the siding with extra pieces of metal, which also needed to be painted with the matching color. Then we were told that they did not do the painting, then the color did not match, and then they did not have time because they needed to move on to the next job.2. The inside damage from the leak that we had discussed was not done. We were told by Home Visions that the roof needed to be fixed first, and then the inside damage could be addressed afterwards. Later, Home Visions said that they do not even have anyone to do the inside repairs. If their specialty is the roof, and they are so unprofessional in repairing the roof, I cannot even imagine what mess they would create if we had pressed the issue of the inside wall damage repair.3. I am totally shocked that nobody from Home Visions even called to check if the so-called "service call" was completed, let alone to come by to check on the job being done. I understand that Home Visions is not the only remodeling company that uses subcontractors, but it seems that their subcontractors subcontract others and nobody is responsible for the end result. Recently, I had windows replaced: the contract was signed with a company, the installation was done by that company's subcontractors. But it was the original company that called and interviewed me regarding my satisfaction with the overall experience. It was also the original company that came in when I made the service call and fixed the problem within five minutes. Apparently, that is not how Home Visions perceives its role: it ends with collecting and cashing the check. As much time and energy as my family and I have spent dealing with Home Visions, we probably could have learned how to replace the roof ourselves and had the job done.I feel that the only reason Home Visions even sent someone to our house was not to provide the service and to fix the problem, but just to brush us off and to put the formal "check mark" that they had responded. I am sick and tired of dealing with them and I do not expect any decent, honest, or qualified services from them anymore. It is very difficult for us to trust this company, especially since the company representative called me and introduced himself as Keith (the owner's name) and then quickly corrected himself with another name. When you get a phone call from a company employee who introduces himself with two different names, that seems to be a good sign that the company is bad news. We had complaints about the work from the very beginning and it just kept building. Maybe they have a lot of happy customers, but we are not them and I would not recommend Home Visions to anybody. The only resolutions to this dispute that we can see are the following: we will have to find a reliable, professional company that will fix the roof to the way it should have been done initially, will fix the inside damage that Home Visions was not able to address, and will inspect the rest of the roof to ensure that there are no shortcomings anywhere else. Home Visions will refund us the money that we paid for the roof installation, considering all the time and frustration and distress that has been spent on this matter, by so many members of our family since day 1.Sincerely,

Date: Thu, Apr 7, 2016 at 2:10 PMSubject: RE: CID #[redacted],There warranty is not through Home Visions. It is with the Manufacture of the window which is [redacted] Windows. This can be located at l:www.[redacted].com/support/warranties/Thanks, Keith R

Home Visions replaced my town home roof 5 years ago. As it turns out, the roof has been slowly leaking rainwater into my home walls and floor for quite some time. This happened because of a shoddy job on the flashing around the base of the chimney, as confirmed by a general contractor that came to inspect the problem. This was a big issue, but an even bigger issue is that the company refuses to respond to my calls to fix the problem. I have a 25-year warranty, which is completely worthless since I can't contact them. I've probably called 5 times and tried contacting them through the web as well.

Review: I met with [redacted] of Home Visions, he put his shoes on my coffee table and did not remove them until asked to do so. I told him that I have a few other companies to meet with and I would be in touch but he refused to leave the meeting, I told him that I needed to talk with other family members before making a choice, he still would not leave. He lowered his price, then said if he leave the price was off the table and I told him that was fine, I would still like to decide then contact him and the company. He still would not leave until I signed the paper work and gave him a check, which I told him I did not have money in my account to cover, he still insisted that I give him a check for a deposit, since he would only leave when I finally said ok. I told him in the end that he did apply pressure to make me sign the contract, he said I hope I didn't pressure you too much, I told him that he didn't because at that point I just wanted him out of my house, I was realy done with interview once he put his feet on my table. I had three days to call the company to let them know I was not going forward with the project, to CANCEL the contract. I called on Monday, June 10th, I sent a FAX from work to the company stated to VOID the contract, I then call the company and spoke with [redacted] the person who answered the phone told him I did not want to go forward, he said okay but let me connect you to one of the owners by the name of [redacted]. I told [redacted] I did not have the money at this time, to do the project, he asked if it was anything he could do to change some of the figures or change something to help me go forward with the deal, I told him no. On Tuesday, June 11th Home Visions, processed and CASHED MY CHECK which they were not suppose to do, I asked the owner to please return my check by mail. I was told that a check was going to be sent back to me by mail, I had written a check for my daughter to travel and I needed the check right away, I was promised the check this morning but have only gotten the run around, and then told that I would not get the check until later today after banks are closed or tomorrow, which may cause my other check to bounce. I didn't want to take any more chances with this company so I have a messenger going to [redacted], to pick up the check, which I told [redacted] that I needed to be paid back for spending money on a messenger, so this ended up costing me money. I was still going to deal with this company later because of the GREAT price I got but now NO WAY will I EVER deal with this company again and I am going to let my family and friends to STAY AWAY FROM the company HOME VISIONS. Thank you!Desired Settlement: To ger my money back that I have to pay [redacted] for picking up the check from the company, the amount is $38.00. Thank you!

Review: Had multiple windows replaced as an upgrade by home visions about 2yrs ago. (lifetime warranty) Vinyl welds at corners are failing on quite a few windows now resulting in gaps up to 1/2 inch or so. Have contacted home visions about this issue several times. So far getting the run around about they didn't manufactor the windows, therefore the maker needs to handle the complaint. Nonsense! I purchased the windows from home visions who also installed them!Desired Settlement: Replace defective windows with New ones and back up their warranties in a timely manner. No more excuses....!

Business

Response:

We are very sorry to hear that your windows, manufactured by [redacted] Windows, have given you a few problems. We have and continue to work on your behalf to resolve the issue with the manufacturer. It is our understanding that this is not an installation issue, rather a manufacturing defect. We have been informed that [redacted] installers are hesitant to perform warranty services because of the guns that you have at your home and the fact that you threatened to kill an employee when you were upset in the past.

Review: I called Home Visions in 2012 for a back porch roof that was up-ended due to Hurricane Sandy. They installed new roofing materials; date of sale was 12/29/12.

In May of this year 2014, after a rain storm, I noticed some leaking from the ceiling of the back porch . I called Home Visions, Inc. and spoke to a Nikko who was to notify the repair service person to service my roof per the warranty agreement. I waited several weeks. I called again in June of 2014 and spoke to a Brian who apologized and also said he would have someone call me back. No one ever called me back. Again I waited several weeks. July 2014 I called Home Visions again spoke to the project coordinator, I think Miss J[redacted], who said she would have someone call me back; no one ever called me back. I've spoke to the project coordinator several times in which, no one ever called me back. Again, another rain, and another new dripping spot now coming from the ceiling.

Again, calling Home Visions, inc., I got Miss J[redacted] and after I complained that I've been waiting for service since May and that I was not happy, she said she would forward my information to Nikko or Brian who are the project managers. She eventually got Brian on the phone and he apologized and thought that my repair had been completed. I told home that he knew that I have been waiting for a long time for service, that he should have followed up with me to see if my roof have been repaired. I asked what his last name was and he said R[redacted]. It felt as though Brian's hands were "tied" and what he was doing was all he could do. Which was not a good feeling, especially form a company that has been in business since 1981. Another call I made I spoke to Brian who took the initiative to set my appointment with the repair person to come on July 16th. Brian called that week week to say the repair person would not be able to come until July 17th. July 17th came and no one came to fix my roof; which I knew would happen.

Again in July, I spoke to Nikko and my last conversation was, to say the least, unbelievable. I was upset, but not irate, cursing and such, which any one in my case would have been. I just couldn't understand why no one is responding to my roof repair at all. Nikko, to me as a customer, went on a non-stop tirade of what all he could do and then and that. I told Nikko that they should escalate my issue with higher up, or the owner. Niiko kept on with the tirade and even saying at one point, "what do you want me to do?! That really took me aback since this is a person that works at a business and he telling me, a customer, something like that.

Someone name Brian R[redacted](spelling?) was given my number some how I guess in error; he thought he was calling a Mr. S[redacted]. Brian says he was a field representative, When I explained to Brian my situation, he assured me he wasn't the Brian I had been speaking with at Home Visions, Inc., he would help get my situation resolved. No one EVER called me back.

It's Sunday July 27th and no one has called me back.Desired Settlement: I just want my roof repaired per the warranty agreement.

Dear [redacted]:

Review: On April 30, 2013, I purchased shutters ( six pairs) from Home Visions Inc. The agreement stated that the work was to be started on May 23, 2013 and to be completed on or before May 24, 2013. To date, the job has not been completed and it is now September 22, 2013, with another set schedule for replacement shutters to be done on Monday, September 23,, 2013. The total contract amount was $1,452.00. One third of that payment was required on the date the agreement was signed, which a check was written for $484.00 as the deposit; the remaining balance was to be paid upon completion, which was $968.00. That amount was paid via phone call on June 11, 2013, because I was not home at the time the shutters were installed, which was approximately six weeks after the stated agreement date. Upon arriving home, I noticed that one of the shutters was defective and called the company right away. It was not until I had placed that call that my husband had noticed that another shutter was also defective, which at the time of the first call was not apparent to me, as he had attempted to correct the issue. I have pictures to show, if necessary. I immediately called back and was told that an order would go in for the replacement shutters. I mentioned that I had the agreement and could give them the accurate measurements of the two that were to be replaced. However, the representative stated that he had the measurements.

During this time, all contacts were made by me; to find out if the shutters had been ordered, when the installment would take place and the reason for the delay. Even though my calls were returned, I was getting very frustrated with this whole situation, which now seemed to be a run around. At one point I asked for some type of discount, since I had honored my part of the contract, by making my payments as directed by the contract. I recently asked again for there corporate office information or manager that I could speak to regarding this concern. I was given two names, but no one has called; the latest mention for the discount was via a phone call on Thursday, September 18, 2013.

Prior to last Thursday's conversation, I had called on August 12, 2013, asking once again about the replacement shutters; I was told that the shutters had come in and that someone would be out on August 15, 2013 to install them between twelve and four. Why was I not called?! The installer did indeed show, but with two pairs of the same size window shutters, and not the second ones which were of a different size; the sets he brought out were correct for one window, but not the other., which was exactly why I had attempted to give the representative the correct measurements previously.

I feel that throughout this time, I am entitled to some type of monetary adjustment! After they had their $1,452.00 on time and now I need mine; I think a 50% refund would be sufficient if not a total refund. It's been nothing but false promises and lack of communication. Perhaps if they had called, itmay not have been so hard to digest; at least I would have been kept informed and not wait until I call to say "Oh yes,, they're here".

As nice as they seem, they need to work on their communication skills or lack thereof. The customer should not have to be the one calling to follow up on a contract that they set especially after almost FIVE months from THEIR CONTRACT DATE!!!.

Response:

Home Visions would like to express our sincere apologies for the delay that the home owner has endured in this case. It is always our goal to provide the highest quality products in a timely fashion. In this case the delay was prompted by a warranty replacement of a product that was correctly replaced in June, 2013, as detailed in our original contract. We find it important to point out that the originally contracted work was completed satisfactorily at this time, evidenced by the final balance of the contract being paid by the homeowner on June 11th, 2013.

We also feel it is important to note that this issue including warranty claims was completely resolved on September 23rd, 2013, with the warranty replacement of the 2nd pair of shutters.

When the problem was reported, roughly a week after the initial job was completed, Home Visions acted quickly and contacted a representative from the manufacturer to examine the claim. It was quickly determined that this was a manufacturing defect and no fault of the installation or Home Visions in any way.

Upon visiting the home, the manufacturer's rep. initially indicated to us that only one pair was to be replaced. This however proved not to be true as we were informed upon delivering the first pair that there were other shutters experiencing the same issue. So again a warranty claim was made. Unfortunately with a claim such as this we are at the mercy of the manufacturer and their process for awarding warranty replacements. It is a process, paperwork has to be filed, orders have to be made and credits have to be given. We say this not to make excuses, but rather to provide perspective.

Again we would like to apologize for our part in this and any incovenince it may have caused. Fortunately no preventative measures were necesary to protect the home, as the shutters represent only a cosmetic detail on the exterior. Warranty replacements have been awarded to replace the defective material. Though it may have taken some time to process the claim and ultimately arrive at satisfaction, having fulfilled the contract and processed the warranty claim, we do not feel a monetary reimbursement is warranted at this time.

Review: I signed a contract and paid a deposit of $1150.00 for a front door and patio door on 6/17/14. The job was to be completed by 8/17/14. No one calls, no one returns my calls, when I finally get someone on the phone they say they don't know when the doors can installed and don't have an answer as to why.Desired Settlement: Either finish the job or return my deposit of $1150.00 by the date agreed to of the contract, 8/17/14

Business

Response:

We are so disappointed about this complaint. We feel as though communication obviously could be better, but we have not done anything that we feel warrants a formal complaint that will last on our record and hurt our company and the hard working people that are employed here.

Review: These people measured our 2 windows; promised to have them installed; took a deposit of over $520; called to tell us they could not locate our windows; told us we would be refunded the $520 deposit; and six months later and 20 phone calls or more to them; have NOT sent a refund. We are reporting them to the Attorney General of Maryland.Desired Settlement: We demand a full refund of the $520 deposit we gave to Home Visions and which they had lyingly stated they had mailed to us (twice).

Business

Response:

This deposit was returned and cashed by this customer. We apologize for the delay in processing this refund.

[A default letter is provided here which indicates your acceptance of the business's response. If you wish, you may update it before sending it.]

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Regards,

Review: We had Homevisions Inc replaced 9 windows. They come with lifetime warranty. After 1 yr, 2 of those windows showed argon gas leakage. We complained to the company. They sent somebody to measure those windows after 3 months to place new order. It has been 4 months since that. We don't get any update from the company unless we call. According to their manager [redacted], Homevisons have stopped working with the window manufacture company "Crystal windows" and that is why it is taking so long to get new windows. Also, during windows replacement, we had asked Homevisions to put PVC around the patio door, which has also come loose. Homevisions is not caring about replacing it either.Desired Settlement: Replace 2 windows as soon as possible with any alternate similar Triple pane windows. During the measurement of those 2 windows, one of the window was cracked by the measuring personnel. Since winter started, it is not keeping warm air in the house. Replace the patio door PVC seal with new one.

Business

Response:

The home was visited on November 16th and it was determined that there is some type of film/residue that is building up on the inside of the window glass. As I explained to the customer, this is a manufacturers defect and this does not mean that the windows are not performing at all. The windows are triple pane and therefore, if the chamber in which the film defect is occurring is due to a seal failure, the second "dead air" space between the glass will provide some insulation. The film defect has much more to do with heat from the sun and it is not occurring on all of the windows, however it is a cause for concern. This could have been a bad "batch" of windows and therefore we are working with the manufacturer of the windows (Crystal Windows) to provide the resources for us to replace the current windows due to the defect.

The warranty claim process is sometimes a lenghty one and if we cannot get the manufacturer to pay for the warranty claim, Home Visions will use its own resources to replace the windows in question.

We respectfully request that additional time is allowed to faciliate this process. We understand that there is a broken pane of glass on the front window and this needs to be resolved sooner rather than later. We intend to have the issue fully resovled no later than March 31, 2014.

Thank you for your patience regarding this very serious matter.

Review: In September 20013, a salesman from Home Visions came out and gave us an estimate to have windows and a door replaced in our home. Because we are under a Homeowners association we have to have everything approved before any work is done. The salesman assured us we didn't have to do anything because they had done a lot of business with the association and they would do the paper work. I told him the contract was pending until the approval of the association and the work could be done before December, because we wanted to use the home improvement for a tax credit for 2013. We gave them a check for $1693.00 as a deposit. After a month went by and we had not heard anything from the company nor the association we call the association and they said they had not gotten a request from Home Visions and we would have to submit the request. I Called Home Visions and they said they had sent the information. They said they had personnel changes and the y would send another request. Going back and forth, several things happening out of our control, it extended the time we wanted the work to be done, we requested a refund. No one ever came out do do any measurements or ordered any supplies for the project. I talked to the company twice with no satisfaction. I mailed a letter in February 2014, requesting the refund and as of this date I have not gotten a response. I'm hoping you can help us resolve this issue.

Thanking you in advance for your assistance.Desired Settlement: We a re requesting a full refund of $1693.00

Business

Response:

Our contract with you has the name of the HOA and according to our records we did complete the application and submit it for approval. We send the information back to the homeowner for final approval, signature and submission to the HOA since the HOA typically does not deal with contractors directly, rather they like to deal with the homeowner. We do work with [redacted] in many communities around the area, however each process is different and ultimately the homeowner is responsible for communicating with the HOA, while HVI assists with the application including a description of the product being installed and photos and color samples when necessary. In the is case, our position is that we sent the information and did not hear anything for a long period of time. We feel as though we can easily complete this project and easily obtain an approval and complete our obligation to you and vice versa. We have maintained this position all along. We have a contractual obligation to one another.
