We replaced [redacted] ***'s roof on 8/22/due to a hail storm that hit the home in May of [redacted] ***’s homeowners insurance paid for the repairs to the roof and a portion of siding on the home After we completed the repairs to the roof, we received a call from [redacted] on 9/8/stating that he had a “dip” in a small portion of the roof and he needed us to address the issueWe promptly came to the home and did everything in our power to remedy the situation without rebuilding the entire rafter system which was not in the original scope of work and [redacted] refused to pay additional for On 9/18/14, [redacted] called our office and disputed the final balance that was due, and told the Owner of HomeSite Remodeling that if we didn't negotiate with his homeowners insurance company for them to pay more money for the repairs, [redacted] was going to file a complaint with the Revdex.com that the roof was not properly fixedThe owner of HomeSite Remodeling refused to communicate with the insurance company, but did agree to further try to repair the roofThe reason for the refusal to communicate with the insurance company is because they have no obligation to speak with the contractor that completed the repairs, and in most cases, is illegal for the contractor to speak on the policy holders behalfIt is also against HomeSite Remodeling's policy to engage in negotiations with individual insurance companiesWe would gladly accept a phone call from them and answer any questions regarding the initial claim It was clearly stated to [redacted] 9/18/14, that he would not be charged for the removal of any of the shingles or plywood or any additional materials from the initial installation to investigate more damage to the foundation/rafters of roofThe only thing [redacted] would be charged for, is if any rafters needed to be replaced because of neglect over the years and not properly maintaining the roofI repeat, [redacted] would not be charged to remove any work we already had done, simply pay whatever work had to be done to the foundation of the roof THAT WAS NOT IN THE ORIGINAL SCOPE OF WORKIt was also mentioned by our company, after the 1st attempt to repair, that in no way does the "dip" void any warranty, labor or manufacturer, and has no bearing on the performance or life span of the roof At no time did [redacted] produce any contractor estimates, and as of 9/19/14, had nothing in writing from any other contractorsThis complaint is the first time that anything had been formally addressed about roofOur position is still the same, we would be happy to investigate further, simply waiting for the [redacted] ***’s approval It was clear in the last conversation that [redacted] ***’s motives were not as described in his complaintHe wanted to use HomeSite to broker a deal with the insurance company before we were compensated for any work that was done outside of the initial depositIt should also be noted that our contract clearly states, “customer is to be charged $for each additional sheet of plywood that is used.” Our company used sheets to repair the neglect in the roof and [redacted] refused to pay the additional money for the plywood after the completion of the roofHe stated that we should have stopped the job and "got his permission" before replacing the bad plywoodIn our contract that [redacted] agreed to, it states we would replace only the plywood that was rottenOur company, in good faith, waived the plywood charge in order to keep the relationship good between us and our customerWe do, however, draw the line when a customer asks us to possibly break the law regarding contact with his insurance company, or break our company policy to further his cause with his homeowner’s insurance companyTo then state his intentions to extort our company if we don’t break our policies and insurance law, is completely out of bounds, and our company does not stand for thatOur legal department is investigating this to determine if we indeed have a claim against [redacted] *** We would be glad to remove all previous work at no charge and determine what substructure damage needs to be done to correct the “dip”As soon as we get the go ahead, it will be done

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the responseIf no reason is received your complaint will be closed Administratively Resolved] Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: As stated before, your employee told me there was hail damage to my roof in no uncertain terms and then he told the claims adjuster there was no hail damage Is there damage or not? He did not look at the roof itself You told me to appeal it with [redacted] which I did There are your Homesite signs all around my neighborhood You told me [redacted] is notorious for claim rejection You told me you do not chalk the damage but your employee stated otherwiseHomesite is running the numbers game with the insurance companies and stands to profit regardless of the "free" estimate Regards, [redacted] ***

In response to you submission, first and foremost I want to apologize for the denial by [redacted] Ins Co Ultimately, I doesn't matter what my technician sees, its truly in the hands of the Insurance Company's adjusterBrookhaven is on the outskirts of the storm path that affected that area on 5/22/and caused damage in some area and not othersIf our technician sees some potential damage, it has to be confirmed by the insurance company for a claim settlement, NOT Homesite RemodelingIncIn addition, your claim that we here at Homesite Remodeling would make "millions on this claim" is extremely optimistic and fact even more unrealistic than realistic Again, we apologize that your home was not approved by [redacted] , when so many others were and as agreed upon, we did not charge you for our services, as promisedSincerely, Michael [redacted] M [redacted] Sr Operations Manager

[redacted] ***: You initially contacted our office on 3/12/and invited us to your home on 3/13/to perform an inspection for hail damage to your home During that visit on 3/13/15, an inspection was completed and was determined there was hail damage to your home from the hail storm on 5/22/ At that time, you made the decision to call your homeowners insurance company and file a claim because of that damage During the initial inspection, or representative is only looking for damage related to the hail and is not the final say to determine insurance payment or not You then proceeded to call our office on 3/19/ and instructed our company that [redacted] would be coming to your home on 3/31/between am and am to complete there inspection of your home We do our best to meet insurance companies, but it can be difficult if there is a hour window and not a definite time During that meeting, our function is to point out damage to [redacted] and the final determination is made by [redacted] based off of various factors HomeSite Remodeling has absolutely no control over [redacted] 's decision on the damage to the home [redacted] insurance did not agree with our damage assessment and apparently denied your claim I cannot speak for " [redacted] ***" from [redacted] insurance and can't explain there lack of communication after the inspection This complaint seems that it should be directed at [redacted] Insurance and not HomeSite Remodeling We understand your frustration with this claim and I can assure you, our company would have preferred a different outcome as well We do our very best, AT NO CHARGE , to represent our customers and fight for there loss Our company has not accepted nor asked for any payment for our service You are not required to use our company for any future repairs and are under no obligation with HomeSite Remodeling at all
