Hometown Appraisals

Review: I requested a home appraisal from [redacted] of Hometown Appraisals. He came to my home on on May 17, collected a check for $350 and said that it would only take a week (by May 24) to provide the appraisal to my email address. I have still not received the appraisal, and he has stopped responding to my correspondences as of June 12. I sent him a detailed email on June 23 requesting my appraisal or a refund, and have still not heard back. Please see a detailed record of the events below: May 17 - Gary came to my residence for an initial assessment including photos and dimensions. He took a check from me for $350, and assured delivery of the appraisal within a week (by May 24).May 28 - Following no delivery or word of delay, I called and left a voicemail.May 29 - I called again. In neither case did I receive a return phone call. However, I received an email letting me know that there was a death in the family, and he could complete the appraisal by the same weekend (May 31 - June 1).May 30 - I responded via email, expressing my understanding.June 3 - After not receiving the appraisal by the adjusted timeline, I emailed asking about its delivery.June 4 - I received a response to my email saying that the appraisal would completed by the next day, June 5.June 6 - The check that I wrote was cashed and deducted from my account.June 9 - I emailed again asking about the delivery of the appraisal.June 11 - Having not heard back, I called and left a message.June 12 - I got a response to my voicemail by email, saying that I would receive the appraisal the same day.June 13 and 19 - I called leaving 2 voicemails, asking about the appraisal and expressing frustration both in the lack of its delivery as well as the lack of communication. June 23 - Still having not heard back, I requested the appraisal or a refund, with the warning that I would contact the Revdex.com if I did not hear back.June 25 (Today) - I am contacting the Revdex.comDesired Settlement: Given the significant lack of customer service, I am greatly doubting the quality of the work that I would receive even if I were to still receive the appraisal. Because of this, I would like a full refund of the $350. Alternatively, I would still take the appraisal, but only with a significant discount. The delay could be compromising the potential sale of my house.
