Hometown Motorsports stands behind the unit purchased by [redacted] There was no need to replace his unit with another oneThe unit operates accordingly as it was designed to doIt is not an on road vehicleHis complaint was that it pulled when driving on road The units have off road tires and are not made for on road useThe salesman and mechanics determined the unit was working as it should

I am responding to the complaint by [redacted] had originally brought us his atv for the first time on 07/01/with miles on itThe customer had described the unit to be "smoking badly" and having oil consumption issuesThe customer then proceeded to explain to me that he had just "topped off the oil level" before bringing it inWhile amongst our conversation I had asked [redacted] (son) several key questionsThe first and most important being: "Has the unit ever been introduced to water at any point in time"? [redacted] answer was "No" [redacted] then explained to me that it had never been submerged, rolled or thrust in any kind of environment where the engine of the atv would have consumed water [redacted] then had explained that his atv is under warranty and that he expected it to be coveredHe then mentioned that if it would not be for some reason, that he also has insurance on his atvAt this point in time, Hometown Motorsports proceeded to look at [redacted] *** to obtain an estimateAt this point in time, it was evident that the atv had ingested large amounts of waterThere were also several indications that the atv had been in waterThere were several finger/hand prints inside the atv's air box were someone had attempted to scoop out mud and water to attempt to cover the potential damagesAlso, the air intake tube where the atv sucks in air was also filled with dry mudThe air filter also had remnants of creek sand and other small debris in itThis atv had clearly been introduced to waterAmongst other findings, the atv had a broken/bent frame in the rear near the sub frame/exhaust mountingsI proceeded to then complete my estimate and then contacted [redacted] was then contacted and I proceeded to tell him that we have found water damage to his engine on the atv [redacted] then explained that it had been in an accident and the atv had rolled over a bank and flipped over on its side in a creekHe did attempt to clean/hide the water damage on the atv before bringing it inMake note that originally [redacted] had told me no such incident had happenedHometown then provided the estimate to [redacted] and progressive insurance was contacted [redacted] was the insurance agent handling [redacted] claim [redacted] came to Hometown and looked over the damages, because it was unintentional and deemed an accident progressive would take care of the damages to Mr [redacted] atvThe Frame was replaced and the engine was rebuilt and the atv was then picked up and the Rcashiered on 8/12/ [redacted] had brought the unit in two weeks later on 8/26/2016, the atv had miles on the odometerThe customer had put miles on the atv since it had previously been picked up two weeks priorHe had explained to me that the engine had a knocking noise and that this needed to be fixed on behalf of Hometown Motorsports since it was just here for an engine rebuildHometown surveyed the situation and again had found additional water damages to the atv since it's last visitHometown Motorsports has proof of such damages that were caused by further water intakeWhen doing a atv or sxs rebuild, Hometown Motorsports cleans the air intake tubes to eliminate any possible mud, water, dirt or any other abparticles that may be found in the air intakeThese air intake tubes or (ducts) are white in color and can be visually seen throughAfter Hometown Motorsports cleans these, we can assure the customer that those have been cleanWe also do this to cover ourselvesIf the atv happens to come back in an instance like this, we can clearly see if the atv has been introduced to water another time since leaving our possessionThis was exactly the case for [redacted] atv [redacted] r neglected to tell me after I had asked if the unit had again been in waterBetween further water damages and possible dirt particles in the bottom end of the engine, I had contacted [redacted] at progressive and he granted a supplement claimThis claim would cover an engine rebuild of all necessary partsHometown Motorsports then ordered parts for [redacted] 's unitDue to an unfortunate injury to [redacted] ***n, the technician for [redacted] 's atv, his unit was not completed and delivered to the customer unit 11/18/ [redacted] had injuried his hand and was almost out for a two month period of timeHometown Motorsports has the exact documented dates for the time missed by [redacted] The time period of three months in which [redacted] was without his atv is unfortunate, but it was no intentional in any wayFive month's passed and [redacted] brought his atv in again on 3/03/with miles on the unitHe explained that the unit made a noise when shutting the engine offAfter diagnosing the issue, Hometown Motorsports came to the conclusion that the one way clutch bearing and gear had failed and needed replacedAlthough Hometown Motorsports had previously rebuilt this engine, the parts at that time did not show signs of wear or needing replacementFrom further wear on the parts (miles) the parts had wornThis could be a possibility of still having contamination in those parts even after cleaningNonetheless, I called [redacted] and notified him that it was not a mechanical defect of American Honda Motor Company because the part was not previously replacedThis part was an original part from when it was originally was flipped on it side and into a creek bedThis would not be covered by American HondaHometown Motorsports district service manager [redacted] stopped by and had inspected above mentioned partsHe too agreed it was from wear from dirt ingestion and American Honda Motor would not cover thisIt is almost impossible, no matter how much cleaning to internal parts are done to eliminate and remove all dirt particles from the inside of the engineAfter an engine rebuild, multiple engine oil changes are recommended to help flush the system to remove those possible dirt particlesHometown Motorsports did repair the unit for [redacted] free of any labor charges [redacted] was responsible for the parts on the unit, $ [redacted] was reluctant to pay these charges and was quite furiousHe and I had agree to disagree and got into several arguments [redacted] had then posted on his Facebook account degrading and trying to tear down Hometown Motorsports as a groupWe do not tolerate this behavior at Hometown Motorsports, nor do we have tooThere are better ways of solving issues amongst people than taking issues to the publicAt this point I called [redacted] and told him he was no longer to bring his units here for repairHometown Motorsports would no longer accompany [redacted] and [redacted] in any manner [redacted] had then called me a month ago and said he had additional troubles with the atvI told him it would be in his best interest to take it to another Honda dealer for repairs after our past arguments and his son's ( [redacted] ) social media thrashingHe proceeded to take it to [redacted] **wersportsI received another call a few weeks ago from [redacted] the service manager at [redacted] He had explained engine damages of $2,He did not place any blame on Hometown Motorsports as [redacted] letter to the Revdex.com statesHe had simply contacted me to make me aware of the situation and the atv's past historyI had told him the history and he then had his district service manager [redacted] ) look at the atv [redacted] s said it was from mechanical ware and from dirt ingestionAgain, [redacted] *** would not be covering the repairs [redacted] was notified we would not be covering the repairs and nor would [redacted] HondaAt Hometown Motorsports we have a great reputation, a terrific service department and exceptional personnelFrom the beginning, I have not been able to trust the [redacted] due to they're lack of consistent dishonestyTwice the unit had been in water, and both times they neglected to tell me such happeningsThis unit has been in water twice, it is almost impossible to clean every piece of dirt and grime from the unit when disassemblingIf the correct maintenance is not performed after an engine rebuild, additional damages can occur as was the case for [redacted] In addition, [redacted] and I had got into a few arguments about repairs we had done to the atv [redacted] had attempted to diminish the integrity of Hometown Motorsports on social media and then asked us to again repair his unitLastly, [redacted] Honda, [redacted] Honda's district service rep [redacted] and the service manager of [redacted] Powersports ( [redacted] placed no blame on Hometown Motorsports for any of [redacted] 's atv's failuresI can understand [redacted] 's frustration, but in no way are the mechanical failures at fault because of Hometown Motorsports or [redacted] HondaIf you have any questions please feel free to contact meThank you, [redacted] Service
