Complaint: [redacted] See attached for copy of below response I am rejecting this response because:Response Business owner says his foreman has been to the house numerous times The only time I am aware of is foreman told me he had come to the house and found no issues on the garage roof The problem is he was looking at the wrong part of the house He did not look at the area of the roof in question He said he would return, and never did If there were any other visits by the foreman, he never contacted me or my wife, either prior to or after such visits The foreman NEVER entered the house to inspect the interior damage I had to send pictures via email because no one would return my calls Business owner also claimed to me in email he tried multiple times to contact me and left messages He NEVER did this and I have phone records to prove it The business owner has accused me of trying to get work done for nothing by outlining the time difference between the start of the job and final payment This is an outrageous claim and impugns my integrity I will not stand for thisThe business owner left out some key facts.a This contract was not just a re- roof It also involved replace and repair of multiple windows, fascia and gutter replacement.b Our contract was signed on 11/18/ Work did not commence until summer of 2014, at least six months That’s six months through winter and spring with damaged roof and windows Work on the roof did not start until after we signed a change order on 6/4/to correct the project manager’s mistaken order of the wrong color roof shingles.c Business owner states we wanted work done for nothing We made partial payment of $on 7/14/at the request of the business owner even though all work was not complete This was over 40% of the totald The first invoice received from company is dated 7/31/and a supplement invoice is dated 8/12/ We did not receive supplemental and depreciation payments from insurance until later in August e There were window repairs still not complete as of 10/6/14, for which I have an email trail f The remaining time was spent arguing over billing and what work had not been completed per the contract Example: this business was supposed to remove all roofing material down to the roof sheathing They only removed the shingles, leaving the old roof felt and valley metal in place, and then putting new felt and metal over the old.g To conclude – The business owner implies that work was started and completed in May and he did not receive payment until February 2015, and therefore he believes we have ”been trying to get work done for nothing this whole time” This statement is the furthest thing from the truth as outlined by the facts above Ice dam issuesa I told the business owner about the ice dam issues and a previous one-time leak over a very small area that had occurred prior to when our roof was replaced by another company during which we had ice and water protection layer installed to prevent future problems We never had another leak until March of That’s years of no leaks on a roof installed by a different company This latest leak was much larger and more noticeable and occurred after completion of the latest roof in by this company b When the roof was replaced in we ordered “ice and water shield on Eaves and Valleys for Ice and Snow damming protection” These words are verbatim from the contract, and I have the supplement invoice of 8/12/to show that we ordered it and it was supposed to have been installed.c Business owner states he told us multiple times about installing heating cables on the roof This is absolutely false The very first mention of this was email from business owner after I filed complaint requesting warranty repair This leads me to the next point There is a rather large gap between the roofing layer and the roof sheathing in the exact area where the ice dam occurs I have pictures with a ruler to show this gap a The reason the gap is there is that the roofing crew took shortcuts by not removing the original roofing felt and valley metal They just put new over the old causing the identified gap.b After the roof job was completed, I asked business owner to look at this gap, as it is actually visible from the ground He looked at it and I asked him directly if this would be a problem in light of this corner of the roof having ice dam issues He repeatedly assured me it would not be an issue There was absolutely no mention of architectural issues or heat cables Interior damagea As previously noted there were small spots from a previous leak The current damage is not “old”, and is much more extensive and occurred sometime in March of Again, I have pictures showing the damage No one from the business ever came to our house to look at it Resolutiona My belief is the business improperly installed roofing materials resulting in a path for water to enter the house b Further, business owner claims that this is an architect and builder problem I refer you to the business owner’s own words on the contract for ice and water shield to protect against ice and snow damming, and the fact we had no damage over a period of six years from a roof installed by another company.c Our house and other houses in our neighborhood date from the early 2000’s I challenge the business owner to show me a single house in this neighborhood with heat tape or cables installed His claim of it’s a design problem is not valid; he is using this as an excuse to not honor his warranty.d I suggest an independent third party inspector assess both the quality of the roof installation and damage caused by the roof installation.e I can provide copies of all documents referenced herein plus picturesf We want the roofing fixed to prevent future water damage and the current damage repaired.Regards, [redacted] ***

Our Roofing Foreman has been to this house numerous times. Interior paint/drywall damage is old damage caused by existing ice dams on roof before we did the re roof in May 2014.  It took until Feb. 2015 to make final payments. I believe this shows that this Owner has been trying to get work done for nothing this whole time. Ice dams on roof and the interior issues were noted and shown to us back in 2013, by owner when he signed Contract. These are caused by bad design of the Architect and Builder, theses do not fall into any Warranty issue with the Roofer, the only thing anyone can do to fix the problem is install ice gaurds or cables, which is the homeowners responsibility, which this owner has been told numerous times.Feel free to Contact us about this Issue.
