Iam disputing the size of a mattress, box and wooden bedframe that was purchased at [redacted] which is owned by HomeTrends.On 3-31-14,a twin bed/OAK model #[redacted] and a [redacted] 3/3 box with a [redacted] 3/3 mattress were bought at the price $448.31. When I took them home and placed them on top of each other, none of them fit. The matress was smaller than the box and the box was smaller than the bed frame. there was a over 2 inches gap between all of them. I took pictures and actually placed a twin bed that I already owned and that one fit better, I also [redacted] the standard matress twin US twin size.It is 39in width and 74in in lenght. I then mesured the newly bought mattress and this one was 36 and half in. I took pictures and immediately went back to the store to show them what I thought was a manufacturing defect.Of course the manager of the store [redacted] told that all the mattresses came that way and the reason for the gap between the frame and the box is for tucking the covers and conforters. I showed her the pictures and also the US standard measurments of twin beds, she then asked to email her the pictures and that she was going to talk to her manager whos an expert in beds. After a week, I call back then after speaking to [redacted] the manager he agreed to come to my residence and take a look. When he saw the gap, he did agree that it did not look right and he PROMISED me that he was going take care it.A whole week went by and no response.I call [redacted] then and he says that there is nothing he could do, and told me he was going to hang up the phone because he was busy. After reflection, and also after witnessing my son climbing his bed and his foot almost getting in the gap, I decided to go back to [redacted] and talk face to face to finding a solution to my problem. the minute I entered the store he was all nervous, and on the defensive, I explained to him that my son foot was almost stuck after climbing on his bed, and he said that the bed was not equipped to be climbed on, that my son had no business claimbimg on the bed. basically it became his defense on how to not keep his word. I told him"-you came to my house and looked me in the eyes and promised me that you are taking care of this, is this how you conduct your business-" he said "- Yes, there's nothing I can do, please leave the store-" when I asked him to speak to his boss or the owner of the store. He said "there is no one above me". After that argument. I just left.Desired SettlementI was willing to work with them but after he humiliated me in front of people, I would rather have my money back, because even if I was requesting a replacement , all of their mattresses are all the same size-per what he said.all I was tring to get is a matress that fit the bed and this one does not and I am glad that [redacted] actually came to my house and saw it. Everything I bought is in excellent condition as the day it was bought.Business Response [redacted] purchased a twin bed and twin mattress set on 3/31/14.The customer complained the next day that the mattress set was defective.We went to the customer's home to inspect the product. We found nothing wrong upon inspection. Prior to making a final determination and ensure the integrity of our initial findings, we choose to compare the perceived defects to the same item in both our locations and also compare to similar items produced by other manufactures. All the products in the comparison had the exact same characteristics that were an issue to the customer. To be short the product is produced as found and the customer is not satisfied with her choice.Nationally, mattress and box springs, by law are required to meet certain specifications, including length and width. While a customer may have a complaint regarding comfort or appearance, a complaint regarding length and width would not be warranted. We are sympathetic to the customers situation, but we cannot replace products that are defective. Our determination is that there is no manufacturer defects in the product [redacted] purchased.Respectfully,
