It was such a disappointing day. My family have been ONLY using Honda cars for more than 12 years and we always bought new cars instead of buying used cars as we are always impressed with Honda's new technology and friendly dealer environment that the dealer shop provides. Also, as I previously worked at Honda Corporate office, I was looking forward to buying a good car. This time, I wanted to buy my first car instead of using my family's car and my family obviously recommended going to Honda. However, I had a such a disappointing experience at Honda Downtown (47 Eastern Avenue, Toronto, Ontario M5A 1H1) and had to cancel my order.
First of all, I was never notified on what fees and what options I might be facing even though I mentioned that it is first time buying a car and the price is extremely important factor for me. Instead, they took $1000 deposit and then told me that I may need to add Rusting and Tinting. They cost $1600 which is big money for me. I can avoid having Tinting, but Rusting is a must have option in Canada otherwise car will be damaged. I complained to the rep why telling me all these after I made deposit and he said "It's not like you are buying a $100,000 car, you need to pay for this". I was not buying $100,000 car, but Honda Civic LX was still extremely big money for me. ***

I was also never notified on what to expect on the car pick up date. All I was notified was a pick up date which is March 31 (Saturday). Instead of Honda telling me what I need to bring, I had to ask all of the questions. I asked my family and they told me I would need to bring auto insurance confirmation form. I was luckily have that prepared. My wife asked the rep what brand of tinting that Honda is currently using and we still haven't received the answer. On March 31 (Saturday), 4 of us went to pick up the car. As we've entered the reception asked me what my appointment time is for picking up the car and I was never notified if I need to book a time. I told the reception that I was never notified to book a time and she called sales manager ***. He was the one who took my $1000 deposit. He told me that he will find someone for me and told me to have sit. After 1 hour passed, I asked him again how long I have to wait, and he was telling me because I did not book the time, I have to wait and told me I am the next person to serve. Also, he told me to sign the papers while I am waiting. The rep who sold the car came to me and explained me about each paper that I am signing, and one of the paper that I had to sign was that the car is not damaged. I was shocked once again because they were asking me to sign that the car is not damaged before they even show me the car.

After waited for another hour, *** and the rep brought me to a room. Then *** said I have to come back on Monday because they got a Grey coloured car instead of the my White coloured car. After making 4 of us wait for 2 hours (that is 8 hours total), he was telling me I need to come back on Monday. It was a long weekend due to the Good Friday and 4 of us wasted valuable time. We were going to pick up the car and leave for a weekend trip. *** then offered me to cancel the deal, and I took that offer.

After all of this, I lost following:
1. Cancellation of Auto insurance fee
2. Decrease in Credit Rating since Honda checked my credit score
3. 8 hours of our valuable time during the Good Friday and Eastern Holiday. Also, the times all of us spent to get there through heavy traffic.
4. Times we prepared for the weekend trip and ruined our weekend trip

Desired Outcome

I cancelled the order on March 31. Today is April 5 and I still haven't received my $1000 deposit. This is such a disaapointment

I recently purchased a pre-owned Honda privately and have been collecting the detailed service records for this vehicle from various Toronto Honda dealerships. Mr. Jerico R., a
Service Coordinator at Honda Downtown enthusiastically and promptly provided me with their records via email upon verification of ownership. Mr. R. was aware that I do not live in Toronto and will not be using his dealership yet he took the time to assist me in a very courteous manner.
