Honda of Great Falls Reviews (4)

Review: Dear Sir: I would like to report a transaction with an automobile dealership which I feel was not only deceptive, but bordered on a fraudulent business transaction. My daughter and son-in-law purchased a used Honda CRV (4000 miles on the odometer) at Honda of Great Falls in Great Falls, Montana. (Honda of Great Falls, [redacted] Phone: [redacted] General Manager: [redacted]). They traded in a 2004 Honda Civic and transferred the balance owed on a Toyota pickup onto the new car loan amount. They also brought $6000 cash to the table at closing. Let me say from the outset that I dont begrudge anyone for making a living and a fair and equitable fee should be paid for services rendered, but the deceptive sales practices by this dealership and [redacted], the general manager, went far beyond the scope of fair business dealings. Heres the breakdown. A new 2013 CRV, the same make and model that was purchased, has a sticker price of $24,875. There are 5 or 6 of this same model type in their inventory at this time. The invoice price is of course less than this amount. This automobile had 4000 miles on it, so I would assume it was worth less than the selling price of a new vehicle. Lets be fair and say it was worth $24,000. Next, they offered $5000 for the trade-in of the 2004 Honda Civic which I believe would have been a fair market price. They also transferred the loan of their Toyota pick-up onto the new car loan. They owed a little less than $14,000 on that vehicle. I understand that any rational thinking human being would realize this was far too many transactions to bring to the table with a car dealership, but they had been bombarded with sales pitches and passed around to different salesmen for five hours at this point and were unable to make a sound decision. So, lets take a book at the figures: 2013 CRV with 4000 miles:$24,000Pay off loan on Toyota: $14,000Total:$38,000Promised Trade-in: -$5000With Trade:$33,000Six thousand at Closing: -$6000Fair Price w/o Profit:$27,000They walked out of the dealership owing $33,000 dollars. I thought surely this had to be a mistake because either the down payment or trade-in was not subtracted. My son-in-law called the next day and questioned the total. I also called because I thought the price was way out of line. When I spoke to Mr. [redacted], I went over the figures just as I presented them here. I told him I thought the new CRV was only worth $24,000 since it was used. He assured me the car was better than new. When asked the selling price of the CRV, he quoted an astonishing $27,950. I dont remember the exact amount, but it was very close to $28,000. I asked how this could possibly be, and he told me it was the fair [redacted]et value of the car. I questioned him on that point saying a new car of the same make and model would have only cost $24,850. He told me it was the fair [redacted]et price in CANADA! I thought I had heard every line from car salesmen, but this one was definitely a new one on me. Furthermore, one of the salesmen told them the factory warranty was not transferable on the automobile which I found was not true. Of course that led to the selling of a more expensive 7 year extended warranty. To top it off, they even caught them for free oil changes for the life of the car for an additional $800. Free??? Im involved because I purchase the 2004 Honda Civic (the trade-in) for my daughter, and my name was on the title. Instead of sending the title through the mail, and possibly having time to think about the deal, they sent one of their employees to Billings to get my signature, and I presume to sign away my rights. The only reason I signed the title is because at that point I thought my daughter had only brought $1000 cash to the table ($5000 trade + $1000 cash for a total of $6000). Unfortunately, I was mistaken. They had given $6000 cash as well as the $5000 they were promised for the car. Had I known that, I would not have turned over the title. Mr. [redacted] told me he would be more than happy to sell the car back to me for $5000. Ill bet he would! He also assured me that he was an expert in selling cars and he knew more than I did about the transaction. It may be true that he knows how to sell cars, but the manner in which he conducts business is unethical, deceptive, and underhanded. Granted, the buyers in this case were uneducated on purchasing an automobile, but this transaction was packed with price gouging, deceptive sales tactics, and unethical business practices. A friend who works at the establishment actually recommended the place because he said theyd get a good deal. Id hate to be recommended by an enemy. My family has been purchasing Hondas since 1985. Ive personally owed eight Hondas and my three children have each purchased more than one. Ive purchased from a few different dealerships and have always been treated with courtesy and respect. Ive also come away feeling good about the transaction and felt I was dealt with fairly and professionally. I called the American Honda Customer Service center and reported the incident to them. While looking at their website I ran across Hondas Company Responsibility Statement which states, employees should conduct business in an open, honest, and ethical manner following companys code of ethics. If the National Honda Customer Service center finds these practices fair and ethical, I will accept their findings. However, I will never set foot in another Honda dealership or own another vehicle made in a Honda plant. Im pretty sure Honda will not have to close their doors because I refuse to buy another product. However, if these sales practices are permitted to continue, the fine reputation of Honda will be tarnished in my eyes. Not only that, but if this dealership can take advantage of hard-working , respectable, decent people, Ive got to believe that this jDesired Settlement: I would like to have this deal rewritten so it's equitable for all parties involved, or negotiate only the price of the CRV without the trade-in or putting the Toyota pickup on the new loan. The parties could seek their own financing from their own financial institution.

Review: [redacted]We have contacted Honda of Great Falls and no response has been given after 5 days of contact.

My husband and I and our 2 children came to Honda of Great Falls to test drive a Honda Pilot. We were faily certain we wanted to purchase one. After test driving, we knew we wanted it. However, that particular day we had our children (ages 2 and 2 months) with us. We explained to the sales man that we had our children and would need to return another time to fill out paperwork. He was pushy and asked "Why not today?" Well, as explained above, we had our 2 small children with us so we agreed to meet the following day after giving the sales associate our personal information.

The following day, the sales rep took us to his area. About 15 feet away stood the sales manager, harshly speaking to one of his employees. The sales rep told us that he was giving an " [redacted] chewing" to the employee. Not professional in my opinion to do it in front of customers and other sales associates.

The very first thing out of the sales reps mouth when we finally sat down was "I need to be very honest with you- we don't have the exact Pilot you want and probably wount get it for 6 months." First frustration- why make us come all the way across town to meet with you if you knew you did not have what we wanted? A phone call stating that would have been nice so we didn't have to drop our children off at a babysitters, and drive 20 minutes to the location of the dealership. It is clear to me that they just wanted to get us in the door and get a sale that day. The sales rep proceeded to ask, "Do you have to have leather? Do you have to have Red? Do you have to have a sun roof?" Yes, yes and yes. He was trying to push a charcoal color on us. I said, "I am going to be spending a lot of money on this vehicle and want exactly what we told you yesterday". We asked him if there was another dealership in their region that had the vehicle we were looking for. He said he could ask his sales manager (the same one that was giving the " [redacted] chewing" to the employee). He came back and said there were none in the area. He proceeded to tell us that it was quite possible that another state had the vehicle and there would be a fee to have it delivered. We asked what the fee would be and he said he was unsure and that the sales manager would have to contact the dealership. We asked if he could find out the fee and the sales rep went to the sales manager who was still roughly 15 feet away. The sales manager asked how committed to a deal we were that day before he would call another dealership and said it cost money just to call another dealership (really, because my husband pulled up dealerships that had exactly what we were looking for on his smartphone for free). The sales rep came back and told us that and asked how committed we were to making a deal that day. We said "How can we be committed when we have no clue how much it will be to have it delivered", at which point we said we were 50/50 about it and possibly willing to work a deal contingent upon freight charges. The sales rep returned to the sales manager and said we were 50/50. The sales manager then said in an extremely aggressive tone "They need to be 100% about making a deal today. I will not waste my time calling around if they are not committed". So again, the sales rep returned and I said I was very frustrated at his attitude. The sales rep said the sales manager was mad because he had "just lost $1,000", to which I replied, "That's not my problem". I said I was finished and walked out. My husband also said we were done and walked out as well.

So there are several things I would like to point out:

1- A phone call should have been made to us before we even came to the dealership to inform us that they did not have the car we told them we wanted the previous day.

2- It is very unprofessional to reprimand an employee in front of customers and other employees.

3- How does it cost money just to call another dealership to see if they have a vehicle in stock (again, my husband did it on his smartphone for free)?

4- How are we supposed to be 100% committed to making a deal when we have NO clue how much it would even cost to have one delivered, and the only way to find out is for the dealership to call other dealerships which will cost them money???

5- For the sales manager to sit and say what he said about us in the tone he did was completely unacceptable.

We proceeded to go home and write an email to the general manager. We received no response which came as no surprise to me.

We also contacted 2 other Honda dealerships within 100 miles and they both informed us that we could order the vehicle and have it delivered AT NO COST. Why was this not an option at the Honda of Great Falls???

Honda of Great Falls has lost our business for good, including routine maintenance on our current and future Hondas which we always did at this location. I will gladly drive 100+ miles to a dealership that does not falsify the car buying process and who treat their customers with the utmost respect. I knew I wasn't treated right and after doing some research, it seems I am not the only one who feels this way. I also have a large network of family and friends in this city and will certainly let them know of my family's treatment at this "place of business".Desired Settlement: I am aware that Honda of Great Falls is not responding to Revdex.com complaints, just wanted to make this situation known.

Review: We are looking to purchase a new vehicle. As two teachers, we always have to watch our money carefully. Therefore, we search the internet for auctions, specials, etc. We found an online advertisement from Honda of Great Falls on AutoTrader.com. We have pictures of the advertisement and we screencast videoed the advertisement. Because it seemed unrealistic, I assumed that the car "didn't exist" or "had just been sold" so I checked the stock number and VIN number given on AUTOTRADER with the dealer's website. The stock # and VIN# did appear in the Honda of Great Falls inventory. So, I called and spoke with Rob who told me he couldn't look up the stock # (didn't have access to do so), but he did have access to look up autotrader. He told me that it was not on Autotrader. I told him that I could email him the pictures of the listing and the screencast video. When I said that, he said, well...we can't honor that price. It must be a typo. (Maybe it is just a way to get folks to call in).Desired Settlement: It will never happen, but I wish someone would make dealerships stick to what they advertise. I'd love to buy the car for what they have posted as the suggested sale price. Since I am pretty certain that will not happen, I'd like for them to quit false advertising when folks are truly struggling to make ends meet and still have nice things. Now, I am going to call about another vehicle from a dealership listed for almost the same price that Great Falls had this one listed for. I assume their's will be a typo, too.

Review: Bought a car from a car dealer. Few issues on the day was said to be sitting too long battery. Jump started the car. I was promised a repair for the issues I knew of... Drive away and very next morning about 12 hours after purchase car won't start. Keeps happening every other time I start the car. The car is detective and I would like to perdue returning the car and getting my money back. I'm a driver by trade, no car, no money.Desired Settlement: The car returned and an issue refunded
