Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: This is ridiculous, you should of have that disclaimer on your website considering you were aware of the problem of different styles of lug nuts. I should be refunded so I can take my business elsewhere. I bought the car from the dealership so how would I have known your hubcaps needed different lug nuts. A full refund can solve this issue. I am rejecting this response because: Taking 15% of the cost of the item is theft pure and simple. I have never in over years found a business that charges a restocking fee. I would never deal with a business like this that steals from their customers. I have also notified E Bay that will never order another item through them since they allow this to happen
Sincerely,

Hello,I am sorry. We are not willing to refund you for the hubcap. The hubcap's design is not the problem. The wrong lug nuts on your car were the problem. We do not sell lug nuts. It is the consumer's responsibility to make sure the car is suitable to install the hubcap. We also did not install the hubcap because it was obviously an internet order that we shipped to you. For that reason we can't be held responsible for the installation problem that you had. If you were local and you came to our store we would have installed it and we would have figured out right away that you had the wrong lug nuts. Working on cars, installing parts etc does require a certain amount of automotive knowledge and mechanical expertise that you may or may not have. The only thing that I can do for you is to offer you another hubcap at a discount equal to our cost plus shipping. I am sorry that this is happening to you and it is never our intention for a product to not meet expectations.Thank you,[redacted]

Hello,I am sorry for the late response. The e-mail that the Revdex.com had on file is no longer working and I never received it. They called me today and I am now aware of it. I assume that the hubcap you bought from me was already on your car and you were replacing one that already fell off. If that is...

true then that would mean that you have 3 hubcaps still on the car that are fitting correctly. The one in question is the concern here. [redacted] was the manufacturer of the original hubcap that came on your car when it was built. Our manufacturer copied the original design which was originally a push on design that had 5 lug openings. In those 5 lug openings there were what we call a "lug hug" grip system. To install that hubcap you would simply pop it on the car and the lug hug system would expand and go around the perimeter of the lug nuts. When fully seated the 5 lug hug parts would then grip the steel lugs. After some time [redacted] was experiencing complaints about the design of the hubcap because they were breaking and falling off. [redacted] eventually had a recall and replaced the original design with an altered version. The altered version only had 2 lug hugs and the other 3 were changed to a bolt on design. The bolt on lugs areas looked different because they no longer touched the lugs when installing. Instead [redacted] changed the 3 lug nuts to a different lug that now had a washer at the bottom. This washer was larger than the opening in the 3 lug areas so when installed the washer would hold the hubcap on the car. The two remaining lug hug areas were now irrelevant if they were broken because the 3 lugs with washers were the only thing needed to hold the hubcap on. Our manufacturer also discontinued the original design and followed suit by changing the design to the bolt on hubcap. The hubcap you purchased from us was the new bolt on design. We do not sell lug nuts and we assume that everyone would have done the recall and have the correct lug nuts on the car. Since you had an issue I assume that you simply had the original lugs. I assume that if you go to your [redacted] dealer they would be obligated to provide you with the correct lug nuts and then the hubcap would work fine. Please let me know. Thank you, [redacted]

image taken from the listing).  We sell this product consistently every month in sizes 14”, 15” and 16” and we never have problems. In this case the buyer made the purchase without any communication with us. That is perfectly fine and that is the way at least 90% of our eBay transactions occur. We do not require buyers to communicate with us prior to making a purchase. But our position is that if a buyer does not ask for assistance in determining if a product will fit then the responsibility is on them. If he asked us if they would fit we would have said no and would have shown him his options. All other listings for this product on eBay by other companies say the same exact thing that we say. In the buyers e-mail to me he admitted that he made an assumption that they would fit. He is now saying that he has a 2003 Grand Marquis which has a very odd steel wheel and is not a standard steel wheel. It is a flat wheel that will not accept any ordinary hubcap. There are only 2 hubcaps that will fit his wheel. One is the original Mercury hubcap and the other is an aftermarket flat wheel cover designed specifically for his wheel. We also sell that product. In the listing on eBay we offered free shipping to the buyer. Obviously there is a cost involved to ship anything to anyone. Nothing is free. Also to sell on eBay there are significant costs that are approximately 15% of the purchase price. On returns we charge a 20% restock fee to hopefully cover these costs. Sometimes the restock fee doesn’t even cover the cost of shipping and we still lose money. Our return policy is also stated in the eBay listing. We will honor our return policy as stated and have done nothing wrong in this listing. Mark [redacted]

Mr [redacted] purchased a wheel from us on ebay. We shipped exactly what he bought from us to him promptly. He has a 2013 Cadillac CTS from what I remember him telling me. The wheel he bought from us is for a 2008-2009 CTS. I am not sure why he bought the wrong wheel but we never listed a 2013 as an...

option for the wheel. I assume that he never read the listing and just assumed it looked the same as the wheels on his car. We have shipping costs and ebay fees on top of ordinary business expenses involved in every transaction. We have an upfront return policy in every ebay listing that is fully approved by ebay. When a buyer makes a purchase from us through ebay they essentially are agreeing to our terms - even if they are unaware of them. I am sorry that Mr. [redacted] feels that our terms are "unethical" but we do not make exceptions on our return policy unless we made a mistake. Thank you, Mark [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:This product was sold in the dark. They now admit that it was known that these wheel covers do not fit certain rims and know which but did not bother to give that information as to which ones. Responsible merchants have questions on their sites to determine the vehicle that the product is to used on to determine if the product is compatible with that vehicle. Without that determination the merchant can get nearly 2 prices for the product and get the product back if it isn't compatible. Fortunately there are many many sites on the internet for wronged consumers to express their displeasure with these types of merchants. I will make use of them. I worked for the railroad for 40 years and know that employees have a site for reports of positive and negative dealings with a business. It has over a hundred thousand members nationwide who frequent the site before making a purchase. I will certainly have a say there. So the few dollars that were taken from me will cost this company much much more in the long run.
Sincerely,
Hugh Thomson
