Honest Air, Inc. Reviews (12)

We have used Honest Air for several years for routine service. We recently had to have the entire system replaced due to a mold issue. Honest Air helped us decide on which brand AC to choose and gave us a great price (I comparison shopped). They showed up when they promised and finished on schedule. We had 1 issue and management took care of it immediately. Nothing big, but they immediately responded and followed through to be sure we were happy.

I would unconditionally recommend Honest Air, Inc. to anyone in need of A/C maintenance or in the market for a new HVAC system.

Sad to say that Honest Air really let us down on last transaction. We had mold and they killed the mold & replaced the entire system, but left our duct work full of debris. I thought sure it was an oversight since [redacted] (Salesman) had told me and my daughter that it would be clean as new when they finished. Well its not and now they say "we don't do that". Amazing that businesses don't back up their promises. Honest Air, we're disappointed. Then to top that off they claimed that the review posted on Customer Lobby was not a valid review. I had to send Customer Lobby a copy of the $8000 invoice to prove I was a customer.

I read the response of [redacted] when he said I was completely happy with the work done on April 10. How could I be otherwise? At the time our relationship gave me no doubts when I approved what he said needed to be done. Although, the company who installed the air conditioner checked the work completed and did not find anything wrong with no drip pan. I signed and gave my money  to them The problem with that company was that the owner died and chaos reigned for months. But, everything changed when I had no cold air on July 3. It was your response to me about coming to check out things. I took notes about the discussion and the times. I quoted exactly what you said to me about "no work on the weekends or after 6pm. That is enough work for the hot weather". I was told it would be on Monday. I said what am I to do until that time? I cannot stay in this hot house with the temperature of 95. However, it was your performance and [redacted]s the day you came  which made me really question what was going…I also questioned about not charging for a service call and then charging $118.00 for a thermostat that costs only $24.00. That does not sound like concern for me, but for you!I had to ask people in my complex about their experience with a collapsed air duct. No one of the four I talked to had ever had that experience. The manager of the complex had knowledge of over ten years knowing the people here and said no one he knew had a collapsed air duct. I really wonder why I had the misfortune of it happening to me and why you made that assessment of the so called problem.I then decided it was a set-up and it would be my word against yours and the men who did the work. Several people in my complex agreed that they would not have any work done by your company. I waited for sometime to find out if you would call about the heating unit for the cooler weather. I did not want to argue with you and just decided to do as several people suggested by filling a complaint with the Revdex.com and the ROC. I know I will not get my money back and I guess that ends the discussion as it will never get resolved. What choice did I have? You have my money and it is your word against mine.
Sincerely,[redacted]

Dear Mr. [redacted],When we first worked for Ms. [redacted] it was because of a thermostat issue.  She called to ask us to program it for her.  We did so on 12/10/12.  We went back for a regular check and service on 4/2/14.  [redacted] (our owner) went into the attic and noted...

that the installing company, which was not Honest Air, neglected to install a drain pan, sensor, or secondary drain.  He suggested that she have the work done.  She scheduled us to come out and take care of the repairs.  We did so on 4/10/14.  At the time Ms. [redacted] was completely happy with our work.  She in no way complained to [redacted] or me.On July 3rd we went to her house because she did not have any air flow.  [redacted] found a collapsed duct in the attic.  He explained to her the problem and she authorized the repair.  The work was done the same day and she was happy with our service.  As far as [redacted] telling her that we would not come out until Monday is not accurate.  We work on weekends.  If she had a problem we certainly wouldn’t make her wait for four day.  He might have told her it would be the 5th which was on a Saturday.  When she called into the office I made sure we went out on the 3rd.  I did this because I knew we had done work for her just a couple of months before.   I was concerned for her.We have not heard from her since the last repair was completed.  If she had called us I’m sure we could have answered any questions she might have had.  Not having contacted us in any way leaves us very little chance to correct any misunderstandings.  I don’t feel this was fair in any way.  I have talked to Ms. [redacted] repeatedly in the past and felt like we could communicate well.  I am really disappointed she chose this way to let us know she was not happy.  Honest Air is a very honest company.  You can see this from our record with the Revdex.com and the [redacted].  Thank you,[redacted]PresidentHonest Air Inc.

The name holds true, I have used this company several times and they always get it right. Expert service, on time and a fair price. Living in the valley, finding reliable, honest and expert service has been a challenge. Honest Air turned that perception around. I would recommend them to anyone who needs AC service.

2/8/2014

It is a pleasure to write this review concerning Honest Air, Inc. of Mesa, Arizona.

We recently received several quotes for replacement of our two Air Conditioning/Heating units for our home. All the quotes were for 3 ton, 14 Seer Air Conditioners and compatible Furnaces. The Honest Air quote included an upgraded furnace when compared to the other quotes.

HONEST AIR BY FAR HAD THE BEST PRICING.

We worked out a date for the installation with [redacted], the owner, for the following week.

[redacted] and [redacted] did the installation. They had no problem answering any questions that we asked. They were very concerned about the install being correct and paid extra attention to the small details (sealing everything, drain lines being correct, items properly connected and secured, etc.) They were very pleasant to deal with and did an excellent job cleaning up as they were working.

We highly recommend Honest Air.

Outstanding Service!! The techs were right on time, made the repairs as needed, cleaned up everything and left the area clean. No parts were needed...just fix a small leak. Very honest - they could have said parts were required. Only took about an hour.

The A/C was blowing warm air so that could have been most anything.

Highly recommended...!!

I highly recommend this company. They came out on short notice and performed their work in a highly professional manner. This was after another unethical company gave me a quote for a new system as the only fix instead of simply offering to add Freon which got us back on track for the summer. Honest Air is extremely ethical and they will have my business.

Avoid These guys. When I called I told them I had a bad Start Capacitor and asked if their Service Technician would have one with them. They said they would, they did and replaced it in ten minutes for a fair price of $50.00 service call. BUT Then they charged me $145.00 for a capacitor that anyone can purchase for twenty dollars and they ( I speak from experience ) can purchase for ten dollars. That is a 1400% mark up for parts. That's is absolute robbery. Tops I should have paid $60.00. What a rip off. The problem is your every day person wouldn't know the difference but I have been in industrial manufacturing electronics for forty years and know what costs really are.

These guys are truly Honest, along with competent and possessing a meticulous attention to detail - the stuff that's less obvious and easy to skip over. I've met the business owner [redacted], and I can see where the culture of this company comes from (as it usually does), at the top.
It's been a little over a year since we had Honest Air do a pretty major AC ductwork revision for us. We had upgraded to a 5 ton unit from a 3 along with a bigger air handler a couple of years earlier. The outfit that installed it completely messed up the air flow in the house, so that one side of the house was really cold and whistled like a wind tunnel while the other wing roasted. We called in several AC companies to quote us solutions to the problems we were having. Most wanted a fee to take a look; HONEST AIR did not charge to do a walk-through to review ductwork.
The technician that came over to review our ductwork was [redacted]. The first thing that impressed me was that as [redacted] walked through the house, he noticed that some of the registers had fixed fins that blew against the wall. Without pausing for a second, he pulled out a tool from his pocket and immediately started straightening out and vanes so that the airflow would be be more effective in cooling the area. He didn't wait to secure the job or anything - he just corrected what needed to be corrected as if it was his own home. HOW REFRESHING - THANK YOU [redacted]!
The quote we had received previously was from a very well advertised AC company. They were very professional and everything, and appeared at our front door complete with uniform and booties to protect our floors (I guess). [redacted] didn't have any booties, but he came up with a superior plan for our air flow issues, at LITERALLY half the cost. We were blown away. The project entailed adding a return on the warm side of the house so as to encourage air flow to it; installing a return air plenum on the air handler; upgrading some of the supply air ducting, and installing dampers to balance the air flow. [redacted] and [redacted] did a super job! all the ductwork was well supported and had good sweeping bends, and all the joints were well sealed with mastic or sealant. The new return is well installed and sucks in lots of air for that side of the home. Gone are the days of rushing wind sounds that drown out the TV, and the there are no longer any warm spots in the house - during the dog days of summer. And all at a really good fair price. Thank you [redacted] and [redacted]!

Review: In the early spring I called [redacted] office to ask about some Air conditioning businesses they used. [redacted] was one that served all their units in the building at the complex. I got four bids and [redacted] was not the lowest, but the middle bid. March 2, 2011,I contracted with [redacted] conditioning to install a new AC/ heating unit. It was completed March 14. March 18, ([redacted]) returned to check the workmanship of the technicians for the company!.

March 17, 2012 the company performed and AC tune-up for the spring. After the tune up check, the thermostat which they installed registered 8888 on July 16, I called many times without any answer ad finally sent a certified letter on July 17, with the end result that the owner had died and the company was trying to find others w ho would honor my Trane warranty. When I called Trane home office in Texas, they had not registered my contract, but they sent me a warranty. I finally reached [redacted] and was told they would give me a new thermostat free of charge and someone ([redacted]. Technician) would install it two days later. Because of this unusual experience, the Revdex.com suggested I contact the [redacted] which I did and had a response on August with a follow up call sometime later.

With cooler weather approaching, I needed to have a winter check and called Honest air Conditioning Inc. because they were near my home on Dec.10, 2012. The owner, [redacted], said he did not recommend a service contract because not much service was needed on a new unit, and most people never used the contract. I have always had a yearly service contract in three other houses to be sure I was on someone's list in case of a power outage. [redacted] talked for a short while to establish a working relationship and said, I think, he knew about [redacted] going out of business.

In the spring, I called for an AC check-up. When the owner,[redacted], came he went up in the attic to check the heating and cooling unit. Upon returning from the attic, he said he had some bad news. The former business ([redacted]) did not install the drain pan correctly and moisture had dripped on the attic floor and the insulation, nor did they stall a strap to support the unit. If not corrected moisture would eventually cause my living room ceiling to stain, paint or plaster would peel and fall. To prevent damage, this correction needed to be fixed shortly. Since I could not crawl up into the attic, I requested they take a picture which he agreed to do. Two of his workers ([redacted] and [redacted]) came April 10, to complete the work at the cost of $657.70. [redacted] said he would not charge a service call which was $50.00.

May 1, my programmable thermostat quit working and the AC would not stop running. I call the office and, [redacted], told me some things to do to get it stop running. When nothing she said to do would not get the AC to stop, she said she would try to get [redacted] to come. He said "would you like a regular thermostat instead of this one? He said he would put a new on in that I have in the truck and you'll have no more problems. I will not charge for a service call, but it will cost you $118.00. Being desperate to get the AC

to stop before 3pm as, I am on the easy 3 program with [redacted]. He said you need to get off that program so you will not have any pressure to stop using electricity after 3pm. I later found out the thermostat cost about $26-28.00 at Walmart except the name Honest Air is on his thermostat meaning he probably buys many and got the price down to less that quoted.

On July 2. Wednesday I noticed the weather was getting hotter and the AC was running, but the house was warm. No cool air was coming out of the registers, and there was a hissing sound coming in the kitchen which is the register at the end of the house. The temperature reached 85 degrees by 6pm. When I talked to [redacted], I was told all of the technicians were booked with jobs before the holiday. By 7am July 3, It was 95 degrees. I wondered if when they installed the drip pan they might had bumped into something to account for the hissing sound which created a lack of cooling. I left a message and said something needed to be done as I could not live in the house. [redacted] returned the call and said everyone was busy, they had not emergency service. They worked from 7 to 6 daily and that was enough hours in all the heat of summer. The soonest they could get to me would be early Monday morning. I called again and talked to [redacted] saying I could not live here at my age and had little sleep last night. She said she would try to get [redacted] to send some over between noon and 2pm.

[redacted] called at 10:50 and said he would be here by 11o'clock. He marched into my house with a gruff attitude, put his hands on all the registers, went outside to check the unit and then sternly asked how to get to the attic. When he came back about 5 minutes later, he said he had to call [redacted] about the bill. He would not tell me anything. After talking to [redacted], he said the bill would be $344.65, for a collapsed air duct. I ask to talk to [redacted] and [redacted] said he was too busy as he tried several time to get him on the job. He said, do you want the job done? With the temperature at 95 degrees and very little sleep, I said yes I He said he would call me in about an hour to do the work. At 11:50. the doorbell rang and [redacted] came inside. [redacted] appeared at noon which was 10 minutes later to help. [redacted] asks casually how I was doing. The two started the work at 12:10 as I had to let them in the garage. The work was done at 12:25. [redacted] left and [redacted] wrote up the bill at 12:35. I gave him a check and he left.

It was a whirlwind experience and only later did I have time to access what was really going on. I talked to four males and one female in our complex with the same age houses and no one had ever had a collapsed air duct. One male who installed AC's said air ducts are designed to not collapse. Shortly, I talked to some in the office and explained my experience. I said I did not trust them to ever come into my house and they agreed. Honest Air has been notified in the complex office as questionable business to use as many residents call to find out who is recommended. Word of mouth is very important in businesses. The complex has about 2000 residents.Desired Settlement: What do I hope to accomplish by submitting these reports? I know I'll never get my money back unless I take him to small claims court. When the people at the Revdex.com and [redacted] ask if I tried to talk to the owner, I said how do you talk to an owner who would operate like this? I think he knew what he was doing was wrong; There are at least two reasons. I learned over the years that these kinds of deeds will catch up with a person eventually in some way legally. The scenario on July 3 with this event cost me$ 1120.35 minus the cost of the thermostat which was probably $25.00. I have not heard from them, but got a calendar from the three days ago. I have found someone who will honor the warranty and has 24 hour service for emergency.
