My name is Idalynn McDonald. I own Honey Bunz Organic Day Spa. I am responding to a complaint I received from your office. Here is what transpired. The "maid of honor" called our spa and inquired about our bridal/bachelorette parties. A new part time/summer help young lady answered the phone....

She only worked from 4pm to 8pm, two evenings a week. She was trained for certain things... parties was not one of them.  She was told if she received any inquiries, to just get their name and number and my full time receptionist would return the call. The following day (mid July) my full time receptionist called the maid of honor back and went over all the details. We have a certain protocol that we use when booking a party. Whether it is a bridal party, a bachelorette party, a ladies night, a princess party etc.....they all follow the same protocol. We do not "hold" a date. A deposit of $100 non refundable is required to secure your date. We have plenty of staff and we do these parties all the time. I will not have my staff show up after hours expecting 13 ladies and no one shows up! (Besides, unexpected things occur as well.) So, a deposit is required. Once your deposit is received, it is your date. We then send out a confirmation letter via USPS and email with all the information we went over on the phone with you previously. Then, four days prior to your event, we call you again to confirm any last minute changes. We close the spa for your private event and you have the place to yourselves. When my receptionist told the maid of honor we needed a deposit to secure her date, she said she would call us back. She never did. End of story. No party booked. No date held. Business as usual for us. We NEVER heard from anyone again. There were no other calls.  On August 26, 2016 when the maid of honor called us to confirm the party. We advised her that we never received her deposit and there was no party scheduled for her. She was upset. My receptionist came to me and asked me what could we do. I am only as good as the staff I have available.  I asked if any of my staff were available for Saturday. I only had a few girls that didn't already have plans. (As I stated, we close the spa and do the private parties AFTER HOURS.) This is why BEFORE we take any deposits I make sure my staff is available for date desired as well. Not enough staff. So, unfortunately we could not accommodate them.   This was upsetting to me as well. This was not only upsetting for the bride and bridal party, but as a business this was 13 ladies coming to Honey Bunz for services and fun. Great word of mouth advertising, not to mention minimally approximately $800 income for us!!  I did not want this to happen either. After I received your first letter via USPS, ( I never received the email)  I called the bride [redacted]. I left her a voice mail. She never responded.  Today, when I received your second letter via USPS, I called her again and left another voice mail. I would like her to know that because we never received the deposit, it was not considered booked.  I believe there was a miscommunication between her and her maid of honor, not Honey Bunz. For that I am sorry. If she would like to contact me I would like to compensate her in some way.  I can not do that if she ignores my calls. Idalynn McDonald Owner Honey Bunz Organic Day Spa
