I was contacted by *** to give her an estimate for a number of home improvementsOne of those was the installation of a bilko doorShe told me that she had measured the door and ordered it through *** ***I gave her a price and told her to contact me when the door is ready for
installation*** called me when she had the door and I scheduled an installation dateI arrived at the residence on time to install the door only to find that she had ordered the wrong size doorI spent an hour of my time at her residence plus travel time to and from her residence plus fuel and wear and tear on my vehicle disassembling and remeasuring the door that she mis-measured plus the lost installation revenueI was not thanked for the time that I spent there nor offered any type of restitution for my time and professional expertiseAll she did was complain the *** *** ordered the door wrongI have worked with the *** *** employee that she ordered the door from on many occasions and know that he would have checked his work against her measurments and that any mistake would have originated from her mismeasurementShe ordered another door and told me that she would call when it arrivedWell there was several inches of snow on the ground and very cold when she calledWe agreed that it was better to wait until the weather got warmerShe called when the weather warmed up and we set an install dateI arrived on time to install the new door only to find that again she had provided the wrong measurementsI spoke with the person that was there and we agreed that I would install the door and that she would order a new header extension panel as the doors fit the widthA couple of days later she called and left a very heated message that The *** *** supplied the correct door and that I did not install it properly. She demanded that I come back and fix 'my mistake'. As I did not order the doors I cannot be held responsible for my client receiving the wrong set of doors a second timeOver the next week I made a number of attempts to reach her to explain that once she gets the right part I will install it for herWhen I finally reached her, she accused me of installing the door incorrectly and that I have to come and fix itThe door was incorrect and I installed what I was given to the best of anyone's ability. Still, I agreed to come over and take a lookI get there and her representative hands me a peice of metal and says that I could install this at the bottomIf you noticed above I had told her representative prior to this that my client needed to get a header piece, not a base pieceThere is no such thing as a footer panel for a Bilco doorI agreed to install what I knew was the wrong piece because the client requested it and she was upset enough alreadyI spent another two hours of my time plus materials to move and reinstall this door because of her mistake. As I have now made three calls to install and reinstall a door that never fit properly in the first place, it makes it look like I did a less that Grade A job when I should have refused to install the doors in the first place. Instead of spending hours installing a door, I spent more than hours troubleshooting the client's error.I feel that it is reasonable to bill for changes in the scope of the work performed

I was contacted by [redacted] to give her an estimate for a number of home improvements. One of those was the installation of a bilko door. She told me that she had measured the door and ordered it through [redacted]. I gave her a price and told her to contact me when the door is ready...

for installation. [redacted] called me when she had the door and I scheduled an installation date. I arrived at the residence on time to install the door only to find that she had ordered the wrong size door. I spent an hour of my time at her residence plus travel time to and from her residence plus fuel and wear and tear on my vehicle disassembling and remeasuring the door that she mis-measured plus the lost installation revenue. I was not thanked for the time that I spent there nor offered any type of restitution for my time and professional expertise. All she did was complain the [redacted] ordered the door wrong. I have worked with the [redacted] employee that she ordered the door from on many occasions and know that he would have checked his work against her measurments and that any mistake would have originated from her mismeasurement. She ordered another door and told me that she would call when it arrived. Well there was several inches of snow on the ground and very cold when she called. We agreed that it was better to wait until the weather got warmer. She called when the weather warmed up and we set an install date. I arrived on time to install the new door only to find that again she had provided the wrong measurements. I spoke with the person that was there and we agreed that I would install the door and that she would order a new header extension panel as the doors fit the width. A couple of days later she called and left a very heated message that The [redacted] supplied the correct door and that I did not install it properly.  She demanded that I come back and fix 'my mistake'.  As I did not order the doors I cannot be held responsible for my client receiving the wrong set of doors a second time. Over the next week I made a number of attempts to reach her to explain that once she gets the right part I will install it for her. When I finally reached her, she accused me of installing the door incorrectly and that I have to come and fix it. The door was incorrect and I installed what I was given to the best of anyone's ability.  Still, I agreed to come over and take a look. I get there and her representative hands me a peice of metal and says that I could install this at the bottom. If you noticed above I had told her representative prior to this that my client needed to get a header piece, not a base piece. There is no such thing as a footer panel for a Bilco door. I agreed to install what I knew was the wrong piece because the client requested it and she was upset enough already. I spent another two hours of my time plus materials to move and reinstall this door because of her mistake. As I have now made three calls to install and reinstall a door that never fit properly in the first place, it makes it look like I did a less that Grade A job when I should have refused to install the doors in the first place.  Instead of spending 2 hours installing a door, I spent more than 8 hours troubleshooting the client's error.I feel that it is reasonable to bill for changes in the scope of the work performed.
