[redacted] reviews attest to the fact that I am not the only person frustrated with the business interactions with your companyThe over charges, the denial of fuel delivery, the slander— one operator told a driver (who in turn relayed to me) that “She didn’t pay her bill” when the reality was that between Christmas and New Years (some years ago) the check I sent was stalled in the holiday mail, between NH and Maine— an employee from Maine decided to refuse a delivery to me — in the absolute dead of winter! which is actually illegalWhen I looked into the matter I found that my check had cleared the bank the same afternoon the employee took it upon herself to cut off my next heating fuel ‘auto-delivery’ scheduledThat all resulted in the furnace here malfunctioning, then needing some sort of a service— I can’t remember what the problem was exactly, but the system was running fine before the fuel ran out— in sub-zero temperatures The DownEast billing system is confusing— by the time a delivery is all made, I get a card left in the door (sometimes, if the driver doesn’t forget) a statement/bill from the Dover office and then an additional bill from MaineThe way the bill is set up is not straight forward, the deductions, credits and various boxes that point to PAY THIS AMTis convoluted I have had to communicate TOO MANY times with your offices - just to try to maintain some sort of control over what is transpiringIt makes me wonder if I am being over charged —repeatedly; because of all the odd confusionI am not sure if I should send my payment to Dover or to Maine- perhaps there are customers that send a check out with both statements; I wouldn’t be surprised, an elderly person might not know the differenceAre some DownEast customers over paying? I called for a delivery on the Friday before Jan knowing that your Rye NH deliveries are made on Mondays, and there was still fuel in the tank; but by Monday (am) it was empty, resulting in the need for a pressure test A three minute pressure test on a gallon delivery costing plus dollars shouldn’t cost I was told that this was taking time away from the route deliveries - a three minute test!! There was no need for the driver to adjust anything in the house - the system didn’t need relighting Customer service did reduce the extra fee to however, only after I pointed out how inflated the charge was, and still that seems excessiveI have never had this many issues with a utility company before I’m wondering, what is this about? when I saw the reviews on line though I understood, that it wasn’t just me that was unhappy with the service; clearly the bigger part of this equation is—DownEast Energy

Price Gouging? As of today 11/3/I have discontinued service with Down East EnergyPricing for propane state wide as of November 1, is $per gallon [redacted]  $per gallonDown East Energy $per gallonI will be an Irving customer very soonDE blames the hurricane in Texas!

Your December (12/03/2016) statement included an extra change in the amount of $You also provided a memorandum outlining why the extra charge was added to my accountI am writing to dispute the billing error in the amount of $on my account (# [redacted] )I contacted your office on December 13, and spoke to one of your agents ( [redacted] ) to ask for an explanation and to express my concern regarding the extra chargeShe stated that there had been numerous customers calling about the same issue, I was not the first customer to call to complaint about this matter [redacted] then explained that based on an annual consumption rate, the “Downeast contract” allowed your company to charge me for the use of the storage tankI explained to [redacted] that I would not accept the extra storage tank charge as listed on the statementAt that time I requested a copy of the Downeast contract, signed by me, to be sent to my billing address immediately [redacted] stated that a copy of the contra

My wife contacted Downeast Energy for boiler service because our thermostat suddenly displayed the word "filter." She explained this to the receptionist and scheduled an appointment for January 20, Two employees arrived at 11:10am and looked at the thermostat, said it needed to be replaced and began removing itAs they were disconnecting and reconnecting wires one of the technicians mentioned that my boiler, the System 2000, doesn't have a filter that could need replacingHe said the thermostat itself wasn't made for a boiler but a furnace and it would work for temperature control but the word "filter" would remain displayed on the unitThey showed us how to use the new unit, took the old unit with them, and left at 11:As new homeowners my wife and I naively assumed that a reputable business wouldn't replace a working thermostat with a minor display issue and charge us, but soon after we got a bill for $252.15: $for *** *** Thermostat and $for

In October we stopped services with Downeast energy and went to a new propane company due to the high cost of their propane I called to have tanks picked up in which they did not and after more than calls to their office the tanks were finally picked up in early April of I called weeks after pick up to request a refund from the tanks and was told that it goes to another office for that refund approval and that the for the tank removal had already been taken off the full amount and the amount being returned was after that deduction I have since made my second call days ago and now my third call I can not get over the lack of customer service I have received from this company and would not recommend them to anyone

Received a bill from Downeast for a minimum usage charge for $on 11/28/ I have reviewed my "Propane Service Agreement" that I signed when they serviced my propane gas fireplace when I purchased my existing home (06/25//2010), and I find nothing about a "minimum usage charge I had received these "minimum usage charge" notifications in the past and reluctantly paid them I decided that I was no longer willing to pay this fee and directed Downeast to remove my tank Subsequently I received a bill for $for tank removal! Once again there is nothing in my "Propane Service Agreement" that mentions a tank removal fee I called Downeast and reminded them that they needed to reimburse me for the propane that was in the tank I remember that I looked at the tank full level before I left for SC for the winter and I thought it was around the gallon level I was told that after the $fee for tank removal they would send me a check for the difference I thought it was for a

We live in Hallowell, ME and use Downeast Energy for propane delivery and service for our heating system I am writing this complaint after having several issues with this company We have had a serious problem almost every single time we require service Today is January 15th, and I just Called Downeast Energy for the third time today We are almost out of Propane and had a regularly scheduled delivery today We live in between two roads which run in parallel, and the road behind us is on the river That road experienced a flash flood last night, and is not accessible We are very concerned because our propane tanks are out there, and I called around 8:AM today to ask about whether the technicians could park on the street out front and run a hose to the back to fill our tanks I was told that we were on the schedule and would receive a delivery today, but as usual they could not give any delivery window and had no idea what time a technician would show up I called ag

During this most recent power outage when my power was finally restored on Friday my rennai heater was not quite workingElectricity was restored to the unitI pushed the "on" button several times and it would temporary stay on and then immediately click offNo heat would come outI could not get it to workI called Down East Energy to help solve the problemThe person came out on a Saturday, granted it was a weekend call, he came in to my home and pressed the on and off button as I had done and it immediately kicked on and heat came outHe told me that sometimes it takes that 4th or 5th push of the buttonSimple right...he was less than minutes in my homeHe went to his vehicle and sat in the yard for approximately 20-minutes, which I thought was strange for something so minisculeWhen I looked at my most recent bill I was charged $for that visitOn the bill it said he "worked" on my rennai heater, which is hardly the truth I called Down East Energy to say that he did not work on the rennai heater and that he did the same thing I did and it started to work hence I felt like I was being way overcharged for something very very simple I called twice that day to speak to a manager and each person I spoke to said that the rate is rate no matter if they are there minutes or an hourId like to think that this company would have some common sense, integrity and have some discretion around their policy rate$is a lot of money for pushing a button

Our fuel company listed above absorbed the previous propane company that serves our area Since the absorbed the previous company (True Value Energy), we maintained a bi-weekly delivery, as agreed upon, since
In September 2017, my husband contacted DownEast Energy to discuss when our biweekly delivery would commence for the winter season (they reduce delivery in summer for business savings, which we understand) and he was informed that the bi-weekly would start in November
We had to call around October 11,to schedule a propane delivery since our tanks were well below half (30%) and we rely on propane to heat our home, supply heat to our stove/oven and to provide energy for our propane dryer
He was ensured again during the October call that biweekly delivery would start up with the anticipated cold temperatures in November From October 11, to November 22, we receive no further fills to our fuel NOR were we told from DownEast that scheduling wou
