I have eaten at Hong Kong Buffet several times over the years but tonight I had a very unpleasant experience. The hostess who greeted my son and I was very pleasant and attentive; however, the wait staff was the complete opposite. Around our second trip to the buffet I noticed that no one hand come to the table to check on us. One employee walked past our table several times, looked at us, and never checked in. I assumed that she was not our waitress because she never greeted us and she never stopped by the table. When I finished my second plate I was concerned that no one had checked to see if my son or I needed anything. I went to the front of the restaurant to talk to the manager but she was helping other customers. On my way back to the table an employee who I had not seen asked me if I was finished. I said no, I just needed to speak with a manager. She asked me if I needed something and I said only to speak with a manager. I told the employee that I would speak to the manager on my way out. I returned to my seat and the employee that stopped me came to clear our table. I looked at her and said... are you our waitress and she replied.. yes. My response was... well, I didn't know because you never came to the table until now. The employee then walked a few feet behind me and began to talk about me with the employee that continued to walk by but never greeted us. At that moment I asked to speak to a manager. The employee who I assume was my waitress brought a lady from the cash register to my table. On the way to the table the person who I assumed was the manager was laughing and smiling. Not exactly the behavior you would expect from a manager that was about to hear a service complaint. I began to talk and the waitress began to translate what I was saying. I am not even sure if she was telling the manager what I was saying because they were speaking in a different language. After I finished speaking the manager smiled and said... sorry. Again, I am not certain that she was fully aware of what had taken place. In short, I was troubled by the type of customer service I received. Not only was I unsure of who my waitress was because no one greeted us but the hostess, but I was completely taken aback when the employees talked about me while I was only a few feet away. Hong Kong has never had the best customer service but I have never been treated like I was today. I want to make sure that other customers are aware of what took place tonight. I have no, absolutely no intentions on spending any money at this restaurant again.
