May 20, 2015:Thank you for the opportunity to respond to this complaint.The [redacted] is a not-for-profit organization but NOT a "charity" organization as the complaint states The [redacted] and the Hapalua, Hawaii's Half Marathon have a no refund/no transfer policy in place The details are listed at the time a participant submits and pays for their online registration.Attached is a copy of our online waiver stating that there are no refunds and no transfers.The participant must accept the terms upon online registration.The event in question (The Hapalua, Hawaii's Half Marathon) took place on Sunday, April [redacted] contacted us via email on April to inform us that she would not be able to participate and inquired if her friend could participate instead We responded on April to say that although entries are non-refundable and non-transferable we would allow her friend to pick up her race packet (t-shirt, etc.) on her behalf However, our system does not allow us to transfer personal data (person-to-person, year-to-year or event-to-event).Details on our website also state that race packets will not be mailed [redacted] sent us another email on April saying her friend could not pick up her packet for her and asked if we could mail her packet to her.We are wiling to make an exception to mail her packet upon receipt of a self-addressed stamped [redacted] envelope.Here is the reply sent to [redacted] on April Aloha and thank you for your inquiry We will make an exception and mail your packet after the race upon receipt of a pre-paid self addressed [redacted] Envelope [redacted] ** [redacted] We regret to inform you that our system does not allow for entry fee refunds or transfers (person-to-person, year-to-year or event-to-event) Thank you for your understanding We appreciate your cooperation in upholding the policies that are in place Best regards Another explanation was sent to [redacted] on April after she informed us that her disabled husband would be picking up her packet:Kindly do not send anyone to our mailing address as volunteers are not there everyday Packets not picked up have been sent to storage after our move from the [redacted] and will not be available until volunteers return to work Your best option is still to send us a self addressed pre-paid [redacted] Envelope at your convenience Best regards (We do not have regular office days and hours and therefore we are not a waestablishment.)At this time, although we have not heard from [redacted] again, we are still able to send her packet upon receipt of a self-addressed stamped [redacted] envelope.If there are further questions, please feel free to contact us again Mahalo
