Thank you for forwarding the complaint to our office.First, security deposits in the amount of $are collected from each one of our renters for the protection of the owners, and it is their call as to what they feel are appropriate charges against it, such as damage, cleaning (both interior and
exterior), tank dumping, and service callsAccording to the owner of trailer, Mr***, he was contacted by the claimant to light the hot water heaterBeing that it was a very simple task, he gave her the instructions, but she insisted that he make a trip to her site and do it himself. Another time was to change a light bulbEach time, Mr*** had to leave his place of employment and make a more-than fifty-mile service trip, and our firm supports Mr***'s position on these chargesThere are no provisions in our agreements that state that the owners are available to do basic things in their trailers such as lighting the hot-water heater changing light bulbs for freeAll lessees are expected to do these basic tasks. Please note Clause of our rental agreement, which states in part: "Lessee acknowledges that he [or she] has carefully examined the trailer and all additional equipment, as set forth in Item and acknowledges receipt in good conditionWhen the claimant took possession of the trailer, she agreed to this clause with her signature, but it doesn't include a free service of changing a light bulb or lighting a hot-water heater's pilot lightBecause these funds are designated to the owners, I have forwarded this complaint to Mr*** for his review and thoughts

As this is the owner of the trailer's call (*** ***), I'm forwarding the complaint to him for his responseThe security deposits are earned in whole or in part and not our company and the charges against the claimant are made from him, not us

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because: The trailer was delivered and left before I had a chance to inspect it I had arranged to meet the owner at the time of delivery, but he delivered and left hours before the appointed time to meet I did not sign the agreement and the portion of the lease I did sign was required to be signed at the time of making the reservation and NOT at the time of delivery, which was weeks in time difference The water heater was not working when I arrived to the camper the first time, so I had no hot water until late the next day after his sister had dropped by (because she was in the area anyway) to deliver and fix the non working light bulbs (which should and could have been fixed before the camper was delivered if it had been properly inspected before being delivered to me) It took her an hour to figure out how to get the pilot light lit, talking on the phone with her brother It had gone back out by the next morning The owner did come and light the pilot one time, showing my husband how to light it, but only after I had spent a good half hour on the phone with the owner trying to get the pilot lit myself and as well my husband trying to get it lit I am convinced that the pilot light was defective as it refused to stay lit for any length of time The owner blamed it on the wind, but the covering over the pilot and the location of the pilot light should have prevented it being that sensitive I have rented campers before in much worse windy conditions without loosing the pilot light every several hours Also, I did meet with the owner at the end of the rental when he arrived to pick up the camper and had him inspect it top to bottom I directly asked him about the security deposit and he said the camper was clean and the only charges to be deducted from the deposit would be for the gas tanks, a charge I do not dispute He did not mention any other charges and there was never any mention of charges for lighting the pilot and there was plenty of opportunity to do so I was very direct in asking about the security deposit charges and it was very clear that I was concerned about misc charges appearing after the fact when I spoke with him face to face He also mentioned a charge for emptying the sewage tanks and that was rectified immediately as I had the sewage empty truck come over as he stood there and had them empty the tanks in his presence I have a photo showing that as well as photos in detail of the interior of the camper
Regards,
