Hooked Up Towing

Review: received letter from hooked up towing saying that they had my [redacted] motorcycle. I called them and told them that I sold it 12 years ago. They said that I am the last registered owner, therefore I am legally responsible for it. I told them I sold it and that I am not responsible for it. I called the State licensing, and told them my story. They looked it up and in under 2 minutes said that I had submitted a bill of sale of Dec 27, 2002. I asked if I was responsible for the bike and the State said "no".Hooked up towing has now submitted the claim to a collection agency. If they would have called the state, they would have found out the same information.Desired Settlement: I want them to go away, both the collection agency and the towing company. I owe them nothing, I will pay them nothing since I don't own the bike. I want this to go away and have my credit score/report perfectly clean as it is now.

My name is [redacted]. I am the owner of Hooked Up towing LLC. in [redacted]. I am writing in response to your letter dated March 25 2014. Re: ID of [redacted].

The initial call for towing services originated from the [redacted] or [redacted] as referenced here forward. [redacted] dispatched Hooked Up Towing to an accident at the intersection of [redacted] and [redacted] in[redacted]. A passenger car had hit a small motorcycle injuring the rider. The vehicle drove away and the motorcycle was impounded at [redacted] request. Deputy [redacted] of [redacted] inspected the motorcycle for identifying marks and discovered that the vehicle was reported stolen and that the last registered owner on record is [redacted]. The Washington state department of licensing showed that a report of sale had been filed but that there was no one named on that report. The ONLY name on the registration for the vehicle in question is [redacted]. See RCW 46.55.105 (Responsibility of Registered Owner).

[redacted] was contacted by our firm and notified that his vehicle was in our possession. [redacted] refused to accept any responsibility. He stated that he sold the vehicle 12 years ago but could not provide proof of that sale nor the name to whom the vehicle was sold. In addition to his lack of cooperation [redacted] was rude, vulgar and combative.

The vehicle was then processed as an abandoned vehicle in accordance with RCW 46.55. RCW 46.55.105 clearly states that financial responsibility lies with the registered owner. [redacted] affirms that he has no proof of sale and he does not know the name of the person that he sold the vehicle to.

Without question [redacted] is the registered owner of the [redacted] Motorcycle "as verified by Deputy [redacted] of [redacted]" and the Washington State Department of Licensing.

Surely we can agree that this is an inconvenience for all parties involved. However, Hooked Up LLC. is absorbing the expenses of towing, processing, and disposing of an abandoned vehicle that is registered to [redacted]. Our firm has sincerely tried to reach a resolution with [redacted] and we regret that [redacted] does not wish to cooperate in any way. The only option for our firm was to utilize a collections agency to recoup our losses.

In the future, I urge [redacted] to be very cautious with any further actions that might be perceived as slanderous or potentially harmful to our firm. Additionally, Cursing at our ladies is unacceptable and will not be tolerated they work very hard and do not deserve to be the brunt of unbridled vulgarity.
