Hope Aglow Christian Academy

Review: I enrolled my son at Hope Aglow Christian Academy on 5/15/13. Immediately there were many issues. However, the main issue is that my 3 year old son sustained a head injury resulting in a permanent scar on his face. On 6/25/13 staff member [redacted] called me at work and stated my child "scratched his forehead" on a toy. She said it wasn't bad but, they wanted to let me know. When I arrived to pickup my son they had me sign a incident report. On the report the staff member wrote that my child injured himself on a toy he was playing with. I removed the bandage and the injury was not a superficial scratch. It looked as if he was cut the a razor blade. The cut was TERRIBLE so, I asked to see the toy and they pointed out a plastic [redacted] Truck. They said they saw my child injury himself on the toy so, I assumed it had to be the truth. Upon leaving the school I asked my child how did he get hurt and he said it happened in the kitchen where he ate breakfast. I called the director [redacted] to immediately informed her of what my child said. The next morning I asked the director to take my child and I to the kitchen for him to show us where he hit his head. My son walked over to the industrial stove and said he was turning the knobs and hit his head on the sharp edge corner of the industrial stove when he stood up. The director asked my son who was in the kitchen with all the kids and he said no one. The kids were left unsupervised in a dangerous environment with items that can harm them. I couldn't believe that they lied to me. They started treating my son and I differently after they got caught in their lies. I have also witnessed then yelling at children inappropriately and forcefully grabbing them. My son was afraid of most of the staff because they yelled so much. I also witnessed and heard them on the phone with a few upset parents and they would mute the phone and come up with a lie to tell the parents. At that point I turned in a 2wk notice on 7/2/13. The front doors to the church/preschool did not function properly therefore, they had no security and safety. When my son started school I was told my the director that they were in the process of building a playground for the kids. In the meantime, they had the children playing in he parking lot of the church. One day I went to pick up my son and he was not in the parking a lot playing with the other kids. One of the teachers started yelling his name and my son popped up from behind a trash dumpster. He was filthy dirty and had motor oil and what looked like sand in his hair. The staff was too busy having personal conversations and was not watching the kids.Desired Settlement: I want a refund of $1,555. In total I paid them $1,555.00 to provide childcare and they failed to do so. I paid the registration fee, summer activity fee and had to buy a school T-Shirt. My son was enrolled there for 9wks and it was worst 9wks of his young life. And his head will have the scar for life from the cut, and I want a refund. I also missed time from work looking for another school because HACA failed to provide reliable childcare. And I spent $70 on uniforms for their school.
