Review: I took my boat in to Hopewell Marine for an engine rebuild a few months ago. After I got my boat back it was leaking oil and the outdrive was making a grinding noise that it was not making before I took it to them. I took it back to Hopewell Marine so they could fix the issues they caused (grinding in the stern drive) and to correct the repairs they did not do correctly (oil leak.) As far as the oil leak goes they are claiming there isn't a leak which isn't true. Oil is building up on the harmonic balancer and oil pan gasket. There isn't oil fairy depositing oil there when no one is leaking. I will admit that the leak isn't that bad however, I paid them $2700 to correctly do the repairs and the leak is only going to get worse. I have an infant and we go miles out into the ocean, I paid that money to have the peace of mind when I go out I won’t have any issues. The second issue is the grinding in the stern drive, when I took it in their mechanic said it sounded like it was the gimbal and it would be covered. After they had my boat for a couple weeks I called to check on the status of my boat and I was told they couldn't find anything wrong with it and they were putting it back together. A couple days later I get a call and they are told me my boat was ready and they had to replace a bent pin in the lower half which wasn't covered because they didn't go into the lower half on the original repair. I was told putting the boat in gear without the engine running could cause the pin to bend. I do not ever put the boat in gear without the engine but every time I've seen their mechanic start my boat he does to prime the engine. They are now holding my boat because I refuse to pay for a repair on something they messed up. On top of that I never authorized them to go into other parts of the stern drive to fix. They never called to get permission or called to tell me there would be a charge if they went to fix it. I only left it there because their mechanic said it was going to be covered. I wasn't satisfied with the work they did the first time if I had to pay for the work I would have taken it somewhere else.Desired Settlement: I want my boat returned to me without paying for a repair on a part they most likely damaged and I did not authorize.
