Horizon Auto Glass & Tint Reviews (%countItem)

Just had the worst experience ever at Horizon Auto Glass & Tint. I was referred to them by a friend after my car was broken into, resulting in the front driver and passenger windows being broken. I called them this morning on my way to work to see if they had an opening. Due to the weather, and an additional break in this morning (resulting in my glovebox being broken), I was in a hurry to get it done, regardless of price. I opted to not shop around and go with quality, based on friend recommendations.
I spoke with a receptionist who said they could fit me in at 2pm and it would be done by 5pm. I was at one job till 4pm and had to be at my 2nd job by 5pm. I let both employers know my situation and they were kind enough to work out coverage and let me go get this taken care of. I'm a server, so I completely missed out on a day of pay to get this task done.
I was QUOTED (not estimate) $230 per window (glass and install) plus tax. I said okay. I dropped off my car by 1:30pm and waited in the lobby till 2:30pm for my ride. I left and at 4:30pm they called me saying that the car needed new regulators (their quote, an additional $300 ea with install) and wouldn't be ready till the next day at noon. I said I just wanted the windows and that I've been able to replace them without new regulators. They said that with my car that was not an option. I grew upset. I told them that I was extremely upset that they waited till 4:30 (they closed at 5) to let me know they wouldn't be able to have it done. Also, that they were unable to figure this out, in the hour that I was onsite, that it was impossible to do without replacing the regulator. Never mind the fact that they didn't even have the parts! Why did I even drop it off then?!
I told them I was certain there was a way to prop up the windows without installing a new regulator. I said to hold off while I called around for some quotes. The man grew upset with me and kept talking over me (specifically the shop/mechanic manager). I became pretty angry at this point and let him know that I took off from work, arranged a ride, and now was being expected to pay an additional $600. I told him I didn't have time to figure it all out and gave him the verbal to just go ahead with it. At 4:55 he had a subordinate mechanic call back and said that his manager instructed him to tell me to come pick up my car. I confirmed that they closed at 5pm. That left me with 5 minutes to go pick it up after planning on picking it up at 11am the following day. He said his manager had decided to refuse me service. They also informed me that they temp weather proofed the windows and would owe them $45 for each one. I said I wouldn't pay for that and didn't ask for it. He put me on hold and came back and said they would waive the fee (for something I didn't ask for ) as long as I picked up the car. I said, fine! But It would be impossible to get there in 5 min. They gave me till 6pm. I arrived. Picked up my key, said thank you and went to my car. The weather proofing was completely over the car handles. I opened the door after some effort and... come to find out my disassembled doors left in pieces, screws and parts and all, spread across the car, on the floor, under the seat, everywhere!
In five minutes I found Auto Glass Now. They quoted me $360, parts and labor, plus tax, including extra effort to replace two missing screws and any extra time to fix the window up without replacing the regulator (just as I assumed was possible). They have the parts in stock and will have done tomorrow. $100 less than you guys and without all of the runaround, scamming, rude behavior and attitude and manipulation. I hope something is done about the guy that left my car in the shape it was on a rainy day like today after getting broken in to and having to miss work. You all made everything extra worse. STAY AWAY from this business.

This person became verbally abusive to our staff after we let him know that the damage he had was not just to his glass which was what we were told for the original appointment but also to door components inside the door panel. Our intent was to only help this customer and get him taken care of on a day where he'd obviously experienced extensive vandalism. He went into full anger and ranting when we told him there was additional damage that would require further costs and time, we did not expect to be threatened and cussed at like that. He even had his friend call us after he berated our manager. His friend was very nice to try and help the situation and still wanted to see if we could do the job, but because our staff had been dealt with so disrespectfully. we felt it was just best that Josiah come get his car. We are glad he found a different glass shop to take care of him, even at the new glass shop he went to, they were more expensive as well then our original glass-only quote and they too needed extra time with the vehicle, so nothing we told him was untrue or with malicious intent. He could have simply said that our quote was too high and that he wanted to shop around and we would have said no problem and gotten his vehicle back to him. Instead, it's become a mission of his to cause harm to our business and he has been on social media for the past night and day to copy and paste this review. We are frankly taken aback by it. Thank you for your time.

I've done business with Horizon in the past and have generally been satisfied. However, I recently requested and received a "quote" from them which I accepted the next day via email. They do NOT answer email and they don't honor their quotes.

I waited a couple of business days and called to ask if they got my email. A woman explained how several people read the email, and someone else must have read mine, but didn't acknowledge it. They took a deposit for shipping over the phone. Later, they called me back with some "bad news". It seems that the supplier from whom they thought they would get the windshield no longer had any inventory and that Horizon would have to use a higher priced windshield (more that $100 more) and that I would have to pay the difference.

A week later, I asked to speak with an owner/manager who kept on referring to the the original quote as a quote. I asked her to either quit calling it a quote or to honor it. She couldn't do it. I asked her to look up the definition of a quote. She wouldn't. She tried to explain how it was a "third party quote" and how "quotes" are usually honored for thirty days. Unless, as I found out, they change their mind.

They'll do the work, but don't trust the "quote".

We gave Mr. Mantos a written estimate for a 1974 classic vehicle windshield that we took time to research, locate and price out for him as this part was not available locally. Our quote was based off of a quote we were given by another supplier out of state. When we got the approval to order the windshield and received a $25 deposit for the freight, the company no longer had it in inventory. We then searched other suppliers in other states and got him alternatives but freight costs increased. Mr. Mantos called today, he was not pleasant or respectful to me on the phone, he kept demanding I stop using the word "quote" when I spoke to him, very belittling, it became clear that it was a no-win situation. We asked to just get his $25 refunded. He has been leaving bad reviews in different social media platforms the rest of the afternoon. Unfortunately, he feels one way and we feel another. We respect his position, we hope he'd do the same. We will definitely use this negative experience to grow as a business and improve, there's always something to learn from a situation like this.
