I have attached a copy of the proposal that was emailed to homeowner on 5-12-15.  It lists from top to bottom the general description of the estimate.  It then lists the "Included items" under scope of work.  Going to the bottom, it lists the optional details.  Listed under this...

is the [redacted]' deck and deck fence.  At the bottom under Final Pricing, it lists the price of included items (All labor, paint, materials) $947.68.  The next line lists under HOME-other Fence, deck, deck wash, and deck prep  (Not included in Total Price)  $891.34.  The shutters were never left off, it is that Ms. [redacted]  never asked me to include them from the beginning, that is why they do not show in the scope of work or anywhere on the proposal.We have emails and phone logs where Mr [redacted] said he wanted to include the deck, and even gave us paint colors.  We came out to power wash to get ready for the project and even began sanding on the deck.  When Mr [redacted] was handed the proposal to sign, he said he wasn't paying for everything that was in the proposal and asked us to stop.  We had already purchased the paint for the project, which he has not been billed for and then sent him a bill for the power wash of the home and deck.  He told us he was not paying for this because we were not doing the project now because he does not feel he should have to pay the full price because he misread the contract.  The power wash was completed and we were in the process of sanding his deck when he asked us to pack up and leave.
