In response to the customer, renewal letters were sent out at and days prior to the customers contract ending to give ample time to renewThe customer was also offered renewal rates over the phone in which they chose not to renew at that time eitherOnce a customer is sent back to another provider the utility company will continue to bill for our remaining portion for days to try and collect any outstanding portions due for electricityIf the balance has not been satisfied at this time the remaining portion will be removed from the bill and sent back to us for us to collect from the customer directlyAs far as the time frame when the customer is dropped back to the utility is completely set up by the utility and is not a time frame that we setThis customers account was sent back to us in June of and we wrote the amount off and sent it to collections in March of for non paymentThe remaining unpaid balance is $

The Customer was a customer of Horizon Power & Light 09/27/2011 through 03/28/2013. [redacted] originally signed up for a 12 month fixed rate with Horizon Power & Light, where he was billed at the agreed rate for the agreed term. at the end of the 12 month term renewal letters were sent to...

The customer to lock in a rate that was being offered at that time. The customer never renewed his account so he was rolled to a month to month rate for a few months. The balance in question is for outstanding bills that were left unpaid by The customer. Horizon Power and Light dropped The customer's service on 01/24/2013 and The customer called in on 05/06/2013 in regards to getting a cancellation notice. On 05/26/2013 The customer asked about our renewal rates and how he could pay off the balance with Horizon Power & Light, he chose not to renew and agreed to make payments to pay the balance off. Horizon Power & Light reached out to The customer again on 05/10/2013 to try and work out a payment arrangement, he never returned the call or made payment. The customer has now been sent to a collection agency to try and collect the unpaid balance for the electricity they used.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by this business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. The company indicated the history of my account as from 05/2011 thru 03/2013; the contract that I signed for their services was a for yea rlong fixed rate with a term that was competitive with the local power company's rate. In 2012, (BY MY RECORDS) after the anniversary of the contract, this company DID NOT contact me for a requested review and acceptance of a renewal; they simply and aggresively renewed their contract thru default role over without notification and increased the terms of their rates each month after the anniversary.  By the time they have stated in March of 2013 their costs associated with the account pushed the monthly rate for services in excess of $750.00! By that time, they had informed me that the service carrier ([redacted]) was due to discontinue the service due to unpaid balances on the account.  Their individual kilowatt charge was at least 3 times higher than the average delivery rate in the DC,MD,VA area.  I couldn't pay that much so I made arrangements with both companies to pay a graduated amount until the balance was paid off. I thought my balanace had been cleared by this company in late 2013, they have not (as they have indicated in their response) sent notices to remit any unpaid charges. This company has a practice of "Slamming" and a history of discrete and ambiguous notifications that look and seem like "junkmail"; furthermore, they have a certain procedure that must be followed in order to cancel their contracts.  The contract cancellations can only be ceased at a certain of the month's billing cycle and has to be recieved on a form that must be downloaded and delivered to a certain address.  These practices are the usual setups to perpetuate a rather predatory posture against the client. I want this company to be more forthright about their attempts to tell me whne they were going to increase my rate as well as how many times they tried to contact me via correspondence or otherwise to pay their outstanding balance and don't be fooled by the sound of a predator saying that the client was not responsive  - they would get a reasonable response if they were respectfully reasonable in their bussiness practices.
For a $392 balance they claim I haven't paid - their collection agent wants $123 and the last time they contacted me was in 2013!?  Is this any way to resolve a conflict?
Regards,
[redacted]
