HelloI purchased a used Subaru Outback with 92,miles on the odometer from Horne Autos on April 5th due to my other vehicles going out of commission because of similar issues with gasketsBy April 9th I had noticed engine oil had been pooling on top of the engineI washed it off and waited for it to start again to see if it was just a rare occurenceBy the 11th it had returned and I noticed air bubbles coming up through the fluid giving me suspicion of a bad leaky head gasketThe odometer reading then was around 93,putting it within the mile Lemon Law limitOn the night of the 11th I had contacted Horne about my issue via their online site Email serviceA *** *** had contacted me back within the hour saying that *** the Salesman who sold me the car would then call me in the morning, Thursday the 12thHe never called me until the 17thWhich means I had put more miles on the car while going to and from work and waiting or ***, ***, ***, an

We chose a vehicle from the lotThey mentioned getting credit approvalI said it would not be neededI would be paying cashI asked to drive the vehicle home to return with cash and my wife
We we were returning when my phone rangThe salesman asked me to return the vehicle because the vehicle had been soldI asked how that could beI was bringing cashIn the manager's office, discussed the situation and were told the other people were on the lot when I was taking the vehicleWhy was I allowed to take it for the drive home if a buyer was already making the the deal?
My wife asked about the other interested people, "Have they signed on the dotted line." The answer was a stammered, "Well, no." So, how was the vehicle sold?
The other people were in the same room waiting for their credit to be approvedMaybe minutesThey had not been their earlier as indicatedI know both of the peopleI have talked to them at the thrift store where they workIf they had been there, I would have seen themWe were asked to wait 15-minutesWe assumed it was for them to locate the second key from a different lotThe other people got their credit approved and our cash purchase was declinedWhy did we need to wait for that when we had cash in handOur cash purchase should have taken priority I returned the key to the salesman
The whole experience with Horne Auto was carried out in an unethicalmannerThe manager even has a large poster in his office of the Scout MottoHe should read in and the Scout OathHe has forgotten what it saysHe showed no honor nor ethics

An entirely Amazing buying experienceWill always give a great rating to the staff and Richelle Whipple at Horne Auto Center in Show Low, AZ

Yes, Mr. [redacted] Horne is correct in what he said about the discount and the truck being repaired.  He said mus-communication between his people, you either have metal shavings in the fluid or not.  They lied and were dishonest to me about that.  The tech then told me the fluid was burnt.  Another lie, I stuck my fingers in the fluid and smelled it.  One thing about burnt transmissions, the fluid has a distinct smell of burnt, mine did not have that smell.  The transmission pan was never pulled until the Monday that I arrived at the dealer.  I want people to know I still felt the dealer was dishonest in the transaction.  They told me my original transmission was defective and needed to be replaced.  The transmission threw a code where any reputable dealership would look at the code and repair the unit and not just say I needed a new transmission.  Not everybody can nor wants to replace a new transmission for the tune of $5400.00 when perhaps only a $400 dollar part is needed.  Ok, so he gave me a $2000 discount, I still had to pay almost $3300.00 when I probably didn't need to pay anywhere near that.  Yes, he also told me I could take my truck else where, this is after I was out in the woods for a week while they really did nothing on my truck except order a new transmission.  If they couldn't fix it in the first place, why not just tell me  first off so I could take it to a reputable dealer with reputable auto mechanics in the first place.  Instead, they let me sit there without transportation and would have just put in the new transmission on Monday perhaps and never tell me anything or they really didn't find the shavings in my transmission.  They also told me the transmission never came in Thursday nor Friday, interesting that early Monday morning it was found there.  Also interesting was the tech that was supposedly working on my truck was apparently out for a test drive on a vehicle.  Wondering if he was working on that vehicle rather than mine on Thursday and Friday.  The service person also told me they would be pulling my transmission Friday so when the new one came in it would be ready to go.  I guess this was just another mis-communication.   I didn't have my vehicle towed to some back woods auto shop where you expect to be taken, I had it taken to a Chevrolet dealer where I expected to have an honest transaction.   Although yes I have a new transmission, the old one only had 123,000 miles on it and being an [redacted] and how it was taken care of as far as fluid and filter changes, it more than likely gone for another 125000 miles with the exception of possibly a much smaller repair bill.  I know of several people who have the same style truck and transmission and that's the reason they purchase those, they seem to go for a very long time.  I'm not saying nothing was wrong with it, I just wish the tech would have read the code the transmission put out and replaced the part that it needed which would have been much less than even the $3281.00 I ended up paying.  Even though it was a new transmission.  I wonder if the engine was making a noise, would they have also sold me a new engine?  Oh, and by the way, it is making some type of noise and it sounds like perhaps one of the heat shields on or near the transmission is loose.  Hopefully it is nothing more than that as I'm going to have it looked at by an honest, reputable auto shop.

Thank you all the personnel and Patrick Walker our special salesman at Horne Auto Center. My Wife and I came in to get the oil changed on our 2014 Silverado and ended up buying a 2016 Silverado 3500 diesel. Our buying experience was awesome! Thank you again sincerely Lance and Vickie.

Regards,

Horne Auto worked on my Saturn SUV transmission and assured me their technicians were qualified. Upon picking up the vehicle it starting bucking and shifting was rough. I returned immediately to the dealership. The mechanic told me it was suppose to run that way and the shifter did not have to be in the Drive shift the shifts were not aligning correctly, he took the SUV back came back a few minutes later and told us he fixed it. I drove it away less than a mile away at a complete stop my car roared bucked and took off into traffic. I hit a cab over full size truck my car kept running ramming into the front of the truck wedding itself underneath the truck. I hired a private investigator as I was held responsible for the accident. Ironically when he went to download the information the vehicle records the memory had been completely wiped out. The manager at the dealership never offered any type of I am sorry he implied the accident was entirely my fault and their dealership had nothing to do with the accident that I was just a crazy lady driver! The customer service at this dealership is very unprofessional and very much concerned with covering up anything that would reflect on them adversely. This was a terrible customer experience.

Buyers Beware! We did not have a positive experience with Horne Auto. Their used car division manager [redacted] is the classic "used car salesman" in the worst sense of the phrase. He and [redacted] pulled the bait and switch on my son, who drove 6 hours to see a truck he had been talking to them about for days. The "flawless" body had lots of dents in the tail gate. There was no brake pedal and the instrument cluster was out. This too can be yours for $15,000. Things really became clear when I spoke to the owner [redacted]. He was conciliatory and told me he was sorry. He said that his used vehicles are low end and sold as is. He would tell his people to provide better information about the condition of the vehicles if they were coming from a distance. I guess you can decide for yourself about buying junk from them if you are local. At least you will not be out the gas money and time we are.

Review: We have an extended warranty on the transmission for certain parts due to a recall. Our car is a 2007 Saturn. My husband drove it to Show Low Az from Prescott, Az. On the way he had trouble with the tranmission. It would not go into reverse and would only go 37 mph. He went to Horne Auto, Was told they were 99% sure it would be covered by this warranty so there would be no charge. Next day they called, said it was a part not covered and we owed them 459. for the work so far. We spoke with local transmission man who said he could repair it for $1000. to $1200. We said we would come on Sat and tow it home, were told it would be ready to tow with the Transmission in the back of the car. We rented a tow dolly,My son took off work to go along, we arrived there about 10:00 am, ,Paid $459.94 .and then discovered the car was up on a lift. front wheels off and transmission in pieces on the work bench. No one knew anything about it. Tech who promised to be there until noon, not there, unable to reach her. Mon she called & said it would be another 4 hours(at $104.per hour to get car in tow-able condition. Other transmission men said it should only take 30 minutes.Desired Settlement: We would like our car released for repair in another shop. We do not want to pay more money to these people. We think we should be reimbursed for the cost of the tow dolly we rented and the wasted trip over to Show Low in view of the fact that they could have made a simple phone call to notify us that it was not ready. We spent $60. for dolly and $83. for gas to say nothing of the time spent driving 3.5 hours each way.

Review: Dear Chevrolet/GM customer service/ Show Low Revdex.com. August 18, 2015

I would like to share with you a very unpleasant experience I had at a Chevrolet dealer in Show Low Arizona. A little background first, I have been pretty much a loyal Chevrolet/GM truck guy for pretty much all of my life. I purchased my first new truck a GMC half ton 4x4 at the age of 22 from Hatch motors in Show Low AZ. I had that truck for probably 6 years then due to my family growing I sold it and purchased a blazer. A few suburban’s, 3 to be exact later and then back to a 3/4ton Chevy 4x4 truck in the mid 90’s. In 2001 I purchased my first extended Chevrolet, a ¾ ton with the 6 liter engine but that only lasted 2 years until I decided I needed a diesel with the [redacted] transmission. We camp quite regularly and with the crew cab it made it easier to load kids and grandkids as well as tow our travel trailer. Knowing I was going to retire I purchased my truck new in 2003from Brown and Brown Chevrolet in Phoenix AZ. I wanted to have it payed off by the time I retired. My truck was a third vehicle for my wife and I and pretty much was used for trips and camping outings. I do a lot of my own vehicle maintenance and pretty knowledgeable about vehicle problems and how to repair some things. I pretty much babied it and maintained it to the best of my ability knowing it had to last due to not being well off financially. I changed the oil at regular mileage intervals and had dealers change the transmission fluid at 40 thousand miles as well as flush the system. I again changed it at 89 thousand and then again at around 115 thousand. At this time the [redacted] truck shop told me I didn’t need to change it that often but for sure the first 40 K mileage was a must. June 25th we went on a camping trip to the mountains about 230 miles from our home. I had an important big archery shoot on July 4th and 5th at Sunrise Ski Area and wanted to get good spot close by early since the shoot draws some 2000 shooters. Monday June 29 my wife went for a bike ride and I was to follow along in a short while to make sure she was ok. I headed out, passed her about 3 miles away and went on another mile or two to where she was to turn around at a small store where I also picked up a gallon of gasoline for our camp generator. I followed her back and after a couple miles I turned off to wait for her to catch me. I turned off the truck and after she passed I started it back up and put it in gear. Nothing happened; no gears and he truck would not move however it showed the tranny was in 3rd gear. I turned off the engine and tried it again hoping and thinking just maybe the computer had a hiccup or something, again, nothing. Next time after starting it up I put the tranny in gear right after the truck started and it went into gear although it still showed it was in 3rd gear even though I could go into reverse, 1, 2nd or third but not drive. I immediately called the nearest Chevrolet dealer about 40 miles away, Horne Chevrolet. I talked to [redacted] in the service department and explained to him my problem. He said not to drive it and have it towed in right away. This was Monday the 29th about 9 am. I got the number of their towing service and placed the call and did not get an answer but I left a message about needing a tow. About 11:35 finally the tow service finally called me back and said he would be out shortly. Apparently the night before was pretty busy and Show Low being a small town there were not too many towing rigs there. Anyway, long story but they finally got my truck to the dealer about 2 pm. I called them about 4 and [redacted] in service told me they had not got a chance to look at it. I explained my predicament to him about being pretty much stranded out in the woods without a vehicle and needed it as soon as they could fix it. This was quite a shock to me as I had NEVER had any problem with the transmission, not even a slightly hard shift. After all, it was the [redacted] transmission and 120 thousand miles is nothing for them. I called the dealer again Tuesday morning about 10 and [redacted] in service told me there was brass shavings in my fluid as well as several codes in the computer and needed a new transmission as this one was shot. I was flabbergasted to say the least. I asked if possibly it could be the tcm module or the ecm but he said no. He told me my options were a used one for $3800 or a new GM rebuilt one for $5400. I told him I didn’t want a used one but to get the new one. He said it would be there in a few days. I called again Wednesday and he told me it would be in Thursday. I called again Thursday and again [redacted] told me it was on the [redacted] truck and should be delivered that day and they would get it in my Friday sometime. (Interesting that when I talked to a person at [redacted] they said they don’t deliver transmissions due to the weight factor) Keep in mind I am still stuck in the woods without transportation and not really close by anybody I knew. I called again Friday morning around 11 and [redacted] told me the tranny hadn’t showed up yet but he was checking on it. I called again at 4:22(remember distinctly the time) and he told me it hadn’t come in but to keep in mind the dealership was closed on Saturday due to the 4th of July. Friday evening my son came over to camp with us and on Monday morning he took me into the dealership. I went directly to the general manager on duty that morning who was [redacted]. I asked him if we could talk somewhere and we went into his office. I told him the whole story and thought I was being misled and sure I even relayed through my feelings I was being lied to. As you could guess he was a little defensive as anybody would be. He told me he wanted to go back and talk to the service writer as well as to the technician. I asked him and let him I wanted to see my truck and he said I couldn’t go back into the area due to liability concerns. I said I would sign a liability waiver but I was going back to look at my truck. We went back together and my truck was up on the rack with the tranny pan still on. [redacted] said he needed to find the tech but apparently he was out on a vehicle test drive possibly. My son and I went back to the waiting room and waited about 5 minutes. At that time, [redacted], Mr. [redacted] came back and had us come out with him to the truck. This time he had transmission fluid splatter all over his white shirt and his slacks as well. Mr. Horne told me that apparently there was some mis-communication between the service writer [redacted] and the technician and there were NO metal shavings in the fluid. The tranny pan was now dropped with the fluid there in it or what was left of it. Mr. [redacted] told me he would take 2 thousand dollars off the bill and put in the rebuilt tranny or they would put my truck back together and I could have it towed somewhere else. After being stuck in the woods for7 days and no transportation I didn’t have much of a choice unless I wanted to wait another week or so to find a competent dealer who could correctly diagnose my transmission problem and fix it. I asked the tech how he knew my transmission was bad and he said the clutches were burnt. I stuck the tip of my finger into the fluid and rubbed it between my thumb and index finger while smelling it. There was absolutely no burnt smell to the fluid. The tech said it had a faint burnt smell. No one else wanted to check it for the burnt smell as I am guessing they knew it wasn’t burnt at all. I also asked to see the codes it threw and guess what, only one code which was p0700 I am guessing because they typed 07700 which is not a code for the Allison. Was the trouble all along a PRNDL switch (the nsbu switch) which was an inexpensive part compared to what I ended up paying even with the 2k discount. Perhaps it was in the valve body or just a solenoid. I wonder, is this how they get used trannys, find one that is in good condition that an uneducated customer came into their shop and was sold a new rebuilt one. Regardless, I have a very sour taste in my mouth about the whole dealings with Horne Chevrolet. I hope all GM dealerships are not as dishonest as Horne. Hopefully their tech learns how to read the codes the computer spits out and then can repair instead of just throwing new parts at a problem to fix it.

Being retired and on a fixed budget this is not a cost I needed to endure. Even though I ended up with a “new rebuilt transmission” I would have far preferred the dealer to look at the code the transmission put out and had my original transmission repaired and my wallet not $3200.00 on the lite side. I know this was over a month ago but every time I think of it I believe I was not treated like I should have been at a reputable Chevrolet/GM dealership.

Sincerely

[redacted]Desired Settlement: I don't know if I am entitled to some type of refund, I just know the dealer should have been able to repair my original transmission for far less than what I had to pay for a new one. The original transmission threw out one code and the repair manual suggested two options were far less than having to purchase a new one. Also talked to two other dealers about the code and they told me the same thing and a replacement wasn't needed had the tech been knowledgeable and putting the customer first. I also think the dealership put me down the list as far as working on it in a timely manor since I was not a local.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Regards,

I recently purchased a new Subaru Forster from Horne Auto Center in Show Low, Az. The salesperson [redacted] was very informative and extremely helpful. I would buy from this dealership again.
