Complaint: I am rejecting this response because: First you tell me I could have self parked if I wanted and I told you valet person said I have no choiceSo which is? Not like it matters nowAs for the front desk people no they did not tell me that when I made the reservation because if so I would have gone elsewhere without a doubt or planned on finding a place to park ahead of time Just so you guys know the gentleman at the front desk was not polite eitherThe ladies were the next morningYou can take this information as a training opportunity if you wish because to me at this point it makes no difference nowJust thought you would like to know because I would want to know if I am managing a hotel Regards, [redacted]

Again I want to say that it really was an unfortunate incident that happen to your car. You have stated that you don't like valet parking. Our font desk agents mention to our guests when one makes a reservation that parking is Valet only.  We have it on our website and we also mention it in our confirmation letters. We are very upfront about our parking situation. As I stated in my previous statement,  Valet Company has signs that are posted regarding the limited liability for their Company in the parking lot in regards to guests  vehicles, also it is clearly stated on one's claim ticket.  I did get your response to my email to you in regards to you receiving the credit back on your card from Hotel Santa Barbara.
Thank you

Review: Hotel Santa Barbara requires you to valet your car and leaves you no choice to self park. My car was left there for 2 nights and a whole day. When I picked up my car there was a large crack in my windshield that runs across. The manager took pictures and had me fill out paperwork. Before I left I made it very clear that I did not want issues if I drove off. Now they are coming back and will not repair my windshield trying to tell me I left the premise. I had to pick up my own car from their lot across the street per their request because their valet person was not there and and I had to drive it back around to their hotel entrance and because of that they do not want to pay for my damaged windshield. The car was left in their hands and it was damaged on their premises.Desired Settlement: I want my windshield replaced or I want to be compensated so I can repair it.

Response:

Guest had checked into Hotel Santa Barbara, her car was valet parked. She was given a claim ticket that clearly states that the company contract limits liability. It is also posted in the parking lot along with the statement that company is not responsible for cars after closing time. The sign also reads that all claim damaged must be reported by customer to attendant in writing before car is taken from the premises. Ms. Baskaron came to the front desk to report the issue with her windshield and I went out and took a look of it. As she had stated "I know that once I drive off the parking lot I know that I can't make a claim". She wanted to be sure that someone had seen the crack windshield. Ms. Baskaron was given a claim form to fill out. After viewing the claim the Valet company denied her claim as the valet attendant was not negligent in the handling of Ms. Baskaron car. I also reviewed our cameras and Ms. Baskaron in fact did drive off the property and returned 22 minutes later to state her claim. As an end result the Valet Company denied her claim but Hotel Santa Barbara did refund her one night of her stay and her parking charges as a courtesy. The total amount of credit given to her was $264.08, which I hope will help compensate the cost of repairing her windshield.

Thank you
