Review: I had a confirmed reservation at Hotel 17 on 9/**/15. It was confirmed in writing and over the phone the previous day. When I arrived on 9/**/15 to drop off my bags, I was told that my confirmed room was given to another party. The website does not state that confirmed rooms will be given to another party. Hotel 17 stated they made arrangements for me to stay in another hotel in another part of town for the same price, but did not honor their contract with me or adhere to their 24 hour cancellation policy, so I would have sufficent time to seek other accomodations. I e mailed and phoned management and asked that my credit card be credited for the night or have a partial credit back and they did not respond to multiple messages.Desired Settlement: Refund for overbooking room and inclusion of information on their website that confirmations do not guarantee rooms.

Review: I stayed at Hotel 17 for three nights in New York City (Aug 1[redacted] - Aug [redacted]). On the first night, when I came back to the hotel after being out, my room door would not unlock. I went down to the front desk and told them. I received a sharp/rude response telling me one of my friend's from inside had locked the door. After waiting in the hall way outside the room, I realized the hotel should be able to open my room. Finally, after two hours someone arrived to open it. Upon opening the door the hotel employee told me no one had locked the room from the inside and that the battery of the door lock had died so it had to be manually opened from outside. For this, all I was given was a 10% compensation and then told to change rooms to avoid this from happening again. My new room ended up being near the hallway bathroom from which horrible smells would come all night. The toilet was clogged and my room's air conditioning stopped working. All in all, I had a terrible experience with the service of this hotel. When speaking to the management, I did not receive kind customer service. Instead, I was sent for a run around and ignored. This hotel ruined my trip to New York City.Desired Settlement: For the fact that this hotel did not give me a comfortable stay and I did not even get to be in a bed one of the nights, I want a full refund. From the lack of customer service to the nonchalant/disrespectful attitude of management, I had a unsatisfactory stay for which I should not have to pay. No guest should have to suffer from rude responses, two hour waits outside their own hotel room, and then lastly a clogged toilet and air conditioning that sometimes works but sometimes does not.
