Review: I reserved 2 rooms at the Hotel St. Marie on August 26th for the dates of NOV 23-27 2015 through the Booking.com website. When I made the reservation, the cancellation policy was presented to me as follows:

"If canceled up to 3 days before date of arrival, no fee will be charged. If canceled later or in case of no-show, 100 percent of the first night will be charged."

Because of a work related issue, I had to cancel the reservation. I issued the cancellation on NOV 7th, more than two weeks prior to the original arrival date of NOV 23rd. The Hotel St. Marie had already charged the first nights rent on each room totaling $369.21. According to the Cancellation Policy that I agreed to on the Booking.com website, I should not be liable for any prepayments since I cancelled earlier than 3 days. There was no mention of the prepayment being nonrefundable.

I contacted the Hotel St. Marie and spoke with several individuals that said the Cancellation Policy on Booking.com was not the same as the actual hotel policy (but should be) and that I would be liable for all of the prepayment even though I had cancelled better than two weeks out. It appeared the Hotel St. Marie was going to get the first night's rent no matter what my situation was or when I decided to cancel.

Having two separate cancellation policies, that are clearly no consistent, constitutes a predatory practice in my opinion on the part of the Hotel St. Marie.Desired Settlement: To resolve this matter I am requesting the refund of the prepayment charge to my credit card of $369.21.

Review: My husband and I stayed one night at Hotel St. Marie on Friday, July 26, 2013. Upon checking into Room 215, our hotel room felt hot instead of cool air like the hallway and other public areas. We unpacked and went out to lunch, came back in later to find our room still very hot and uncomfortable. I called the front desk and spoke with [redacted]. He told both me and my husband that he would have someone come check out the air conditioning issue. We left around 5:30pm and returned again at 10:15pm to find our room still as hot as we left it. [redacted] stated the worker said we had the heater on not the air conditioning, which is untrue. I'm not sure if the worker ever showed up as no documentation was showed to us. [redacted] himself came up and said the air condition was not working properly and that it was much cooler out in the hallway. The curtains had been pulled to keep the heat from the sun from making matters worse. He also stated all rooms were occupied so he couldn't move us to any other rooms with air conditioning. Instead he brought us a box fan and took off our parking fee of $28. and this was suppose to compensate for no air conditioning. [redacted] told us to talk with the manager on Saturday morning. It was in the 90's Friday and Saturday. We were in New Orleans for the first time celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary and had to spend it in a hot box of a hotel room. We went down on Saturday (as instructed by [redacted]) to talk with the manager and the lady told us she was filling in for the manager and that we would have to contact the general manager on Monday. I have emailed the general manager and Reservations about my concern. The general manager has read my emails but has yet to respond. His name is [redacted]Desired Settlement: I want a full refund of $152.42 credited back to my Discover credit card.
