I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

To whom it may concern (Revdex.com), At HotRodz, we are a parking enforcement company which patrol parking lots with high problem incidents. We are licensed by the city of Denver for services to provided and protect the interests of private company owners against violators in their lots. Seeing how we...

are a parking enforcement company, it is expected to receive complaints from violators against us. However, we work with companies to maintain their interests and to ensure their rights are reserved. It is the desire of the private owners to have complete access to their parking spaces at all times. We operate completely within the guidelines and practices of the Denver traffic and parking regulations, codes, and ordinances. Within the 3 years of operations, we have had the support of the Denver Community Mediation Concepts stating that we have the best posted signs for parking lots, the mayor of Denver who has seen and supported our business, as well as letter of recommendations from said private business. Over these years, we have increased community report as well as lowered the crime rate of the areas we patrol to almost 0%. The purpose of change within the businesses to booting vehicles is to provide a low impact alternative to tow trucks which can sometimes be three times more. The private business understands that people make mistakes and want to give the violators an opportunity to pay a small fine rather than returning to no vehicle whatsoever henceforth saving time and expenses.    To the complaint made against HotRodz ([redacted]) Your request for refund is denied. Although you read the sign inside of [redacted] stating that their establishment is street parking only, you neglected the 17 signs posted in the parking lot you had violated. Upon leaving the parking lot, you walk past 5 signs clearly stating that it is private property for [redacted] parking only. To park at your own risk and the consequences that you are taking once you decide to park and walk off. The issue that you had with with one of our agents was simply my agent doing his job. As the sign you neglected to read states that it is private parking only and that you will be booted and fined in the amount of $100. Yes it is true that we were investigated by news media, however their intent was not to get the whole story. As stated above, we are placed to protect the properties which we patrol. We handle problem parking lots to ensure access to the businesses that we partner with to ensure their rights are being protected. In America, Cash is the only legal tender for services provided. We no longer accept credit cards due to the fact that after transactions, violators would call their financial institutions and cancel the order. Another problem we also avoid is the overwhelming increase of credit card fraud and identity theft. I am very interested as to whom you contacted within the police department. We have a high rapport with the police department. Please provide the local government entities that are “apparently” having problems with us. Seeing how we have a deep tie within the neighborhood as well as local companies and law enforcement, any concerns about us from these “entities” is very important to us. I, like you, would also like to also express my concerns when it comes to the citizens of the neighborhoods we patrol. The citizens that are continuously being hounded and their establishments continuously being violated. It is for these reasons that we were asked to come in. Not only does our presence lower and in some cases eradicate crime rates, but the parking lots we have are shared with tow companies. They were tired of hearing a car was towed, even if they were a violator. So the boot system was put into action to show the violator that they were in the wrong. And rather than not having a vehicle, after the small fine was paid (which is three times lower than a tow to help save money as well as open people's eyes up to the 17 signs posted throughout the lot) the vehicle is released and the violator is aware that the parking lot is indeed private property. Rather than expending time to research claims placed against us from violators, look into the properties that we service and how we've reduced crime rates, transformed blocks, and protected them from violators each day. When you parked your vehicle in the designated spot, you went to the neighboring business [redacted]  My agent then proceeded to do his job and place the boot on the car since you were not a [redacted] customer at first. When you had come back and saw it was booted you are correct that my agent did in fact go to the store and verify your presence there. He then went back and took the boot off without further due and you said the boot scratched your rim. To begin with, all of our boots are serviced frequently and are designed to protect the wheel to the vehicle that is restrained. There is a rubber coat that protects and prevents damage to the wheel. Next, the phone call to my manager [redacted]. The phone call was immediately begun in a rude manner of your behalf.  After demanding that we fix this immediately and come pay for it now, [redacted] told you that we do not just “pay you off”. There is a process that needs to be fulfilled. He said that you would need to talk to the attorney and file a claim. When you asked for the information, he was not at the desk and said you could look the information up because it is public knowledge.  Not only do our signs say “park at your own risk”, there are circumstances and procedures that must be fulfilled by both parties. You failed to abide by these procedures and took off. When my manager called you back to inform you to file a claim, and that you could not leave (although you had already taken off) so we can take pictures (which was verified by 2 agents that there was in fact no damage and the damage you were referring to was an old dent that was rusted up) to have evidence for our claim. You claimed you had already left. You were instructed to go back to fulfill our end of the procedures and you agreed saying you would turn back immediately, you did not. It is due to this that your request has been denied. Respectfully, [redacted] HotRodz L.L.C

Your complaint that the person that booted your vehicle was waiting in the parking lot but didn't say anything is irrelevant. There are 17 signs posted throughout the parking lot, including 5 as you enter/leave. Posted on these signs include: “THIS IS YOUR WARNING!”, “PARK AT YOUR OWN RISK”. “THIS LOT IS PATROLLED AT ALL TIMES”, as well as “NO TRESSPASSING”. The issue with $100 cash was also on the same sign that says the fine is “$100 per city ordinance”. Regardless of 5 minutes or 30 minutes. Once the violation is made, the boot is thrown. Respectfully Submitted, [redacted] HotRodz L.L.C.

The request of a refund of $50 is denied. We apologize that you feel you were treated in a rude manner. At HotRodz LLC we do not service the [redacted] to harass the guests. Although you were not the person that checked in, the policy of the hotel upon check-in is to ask if there are any vehicles....

Once the information is documented, each guest is given a parking permit and told to hang up visibly from the window to prevent situations like the one you experienced from happening. There are 24 signs posted throughout the hotel parking, including each entrance and one placed on the front desk. [redacted] has a company cell phone in his pocket due to the fact that he is a night manager. After hours, he has the phone to answer any boot issues and direct those issues on the spot rather than waiting until the morning to release the vehicle.  The reason [redacted] gave you a discount was to emphasize the fact that our intention is to not harass the guest. The fact that no permit was placed in your vehicle was the reason for the boot. We offer a discount to the guests because we cannot release the vehicle for free. The fee of $50 is for services rendered for the placement of the boot. As far as the drop fee, it applies to tow trucks only. HotRodz is a boot company with no affiliation with the tow truck industry. We actually make it a point to restrain from towing out of the Ramada to in fact give the owner of the vehicle time to come back and pay a small fine to get the boot off on the spot instead of coming to a realization that their vehicle is missing. As far as the sharpie on the ticket, I do not believe that my manager would act in that manner. If it was sharpied out he would have shown you his ID as well as the signs posted with the number to verify who he was. Please bring in the ticket in and we can work to find a solution. In case you need the number again: ###-###-####.Respectfully Submitted,[redacted]HotRodz L.L.C.
