Signed up for Hour Fitness membership years ago under a deal where I pay for years up front and then have a lifetime yearly fee of $ Sales person was very specific about that My bad for not reading the fine print of the contract and taking the salesperson's wordToday I got an invoice for $ Not only was there not supposed to be any increase but the increase is more than 100% Called customer service and was basically brushed off (they told me they would send me a copy of my contract where it says that membership fees can increase at their discretion) When I asked if I can get the address to send a complaint letter to was told there is no address!?!?!? Very disappointing Overall the membership price is still a good deal but that's not the point Will you still keep me as a customer? Maybe Will I recommend the gym to anyone else No! Would never recommend Hour Fitness to anyone because of the way you have conducted business with me

Dont sign up with these crooksA few months ago I signed up, stating clearly that I wanted a month to month membership with no contractI was assured by the club manager that I was signing up for a month to month membership and could cancel at any time with no feesHowever, recently I tried to cancel my membership and was told that I signed a month contract and would need to pay the remainder of the contract and if I refused to pay they would send me to collectionsI dont know whether they are simply incompetent or just plain crooksEither way they're not to be trustedBetter to take your business elsewhere

I would like to know a company is allowed to sell a lifetime membership, with a set fee for purchasing this membership, and has a set annual fee to maintain this membershipAll on a contract , and then years later, send you a bill changeing the annual fee that they had already set and agreed uponThey didn't say that would happen when selling you the membershipIt appears to be another one of their ways of trying to get their patrons to quite, because they aren't receiving enough money from themIf you call them to challenge the new few, they tell you that you can pay the fee, or quit your membershipI will be contacting a attorney, to protect my investment [lifetime memberships] and have the original contracts and payment receipts

A couple of their male workers ( [redacted] and ***) were trying to sell me supplements I said I was interested, but they tried to get me to buy steroidsI told their manager, and he discounted it Ironically, he had a bottle on his desk

Better Business Bureau: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me I will wait for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved Regards, [redacted]

I have had the worst experience with any customer service department everI called to inform them that my husband had lost his job we needed to cut bills and the gym membership was something that we had paid on for months and never even usedThey gave me the option of pay early termination fee on each account, freezing the accounts for three months and then activating them again, or just removing my card from the account so they could later send me to collectionsI tried to explain to them that we had no idea how we were going to even eat next week and a gym membership was not even something that we needed, I offered to pay one more month and walk awayInstead they refused, I was forced to put the account on a freeze and they will not terminate the accountI would never recommend this companyI just want this account cancelled, want to walk away and never have anything to do with them again

I set up an account with hour fitness a signed a commitment contract months into my contract they decided to close my home gym and are telling members to go to other locations which non of them are convinient or near me I would literally have to take trains , a bus and a train so that I can work out way completely out of my waySo I decided to terminate my contract and they want to charge a cancelation feeThey already have my all of my info and yet are requesting for me to fax proof of address I asked for the corporate office number which rep by the name of Friday denied to provide I requested a manager which she also Denied to put on the phone this people are terrible they kept the gym in bad condition always dirty full of dust ,

In town visiting family for the weekend (I'm a graduate student) I'm looking to join a gym when I move back to Olympia, WA in about a year I was a member at Hour Fitness prior to moving, four years ago, and was interested in rejoining but wanted to feel out my options I went in to do a free three day pass, as advertised on their website The Sales Manager, Jeremiah C., refused to give me a pass because I was a previous member (in 2012) I showed him the policy on Hour Fitness' website, which clearly states that "User must not have been a guest or member of Hour Fitness within the last months" (copied and pasted from website) I was still refused access and told to go away Jeremiah was rude, called me a liar, and told me to call customer service but "they won't answer cause nobody's there" Worst customer service I've experienced in a long time It's too bad they treat graduate students, who have literally barely enough money to survive, this way

Dear [redacted] Our records indicate that your concern has been addressed by the local Club Manager Should you have any questions, please let us know Promoting Health and Fitness, Hour Fitness Corporate

This place was dirtyThe manager start a class that took up space in the work-out areasWhen I went into the area the trainers told me I could not use the equipment because of a classThis class was NOT in the separate room with the classes

I have been member for over years and paid my membership on time at all timesMy membership was very low cost, so in order to get rid of my and my other family membership they insisted that they send us an invoice and since we didn't pay it they cancelled the membershipPlease be aware of it and don't wait for your invoice, I heard it from other friends that they played same trick on them as well

Showers continually are out is soap, worse yet employees seem at a loss of whyManager takes hour lunchesInsulation hanging from ceilingMember services refuse to give the district mgr contact info

Had a month contract made for $a month After the months they kept charging me $for the following months , after those months I found out they are charging me $a month because someone there added a person to my member ship without my permision or signature My contract was only for months , not only I have to pay an extra months that I was miss lead to but now im paying someone elses member ship Went there times to speak to diferent managers , got nothing out of it but upset Was told the only thing they can do is cancel my account and I lose all this money , and the worst part is that I would still have to pay for the other person cause he was not present ( I dont even know this perso ) !!!

I've dealt with the manager [redacted] or [redacted] at this facility in Oceanside Ca off of el caminoHe has all the data that the corporate office can see on their computerHe can see that my family has been a member for a long timeLonger before hour fitness became a hour fitnessIn any event, he told me that this facility is getting an upgrade & when it turns into the new upgrade (which is in October I thinkIt's July right now), I wouldn't be able to go to this facility anymore due to my membership levelApparently, I have the basic membership despite the fact that my parents has been grandfathered into the all access?!? If my parents are able to go to the ultra or the super sport, why can't the rest of the family go?? Before it was hours fitness, it was called family fitness We got the family dealThat is, all members can go to the gym for the price that you would pay for member!!! That was back in the days Sorry for the side trackDespite the fact that this "gym" hasn't been upgraded yet with the new pool, basketball court, jacuzzi & etcthey have a "deal" until Sunday?!? He said I can upgrade now & it'll only cost me $& then after Sunday, it'll be $What?!? The gym hasn't been upgraded yet & they want me to pay for this deal?!? I understand the "deal" if the new upgraded gym is now open but it is not!! So basically, I'll be throwing away $worth considering the new upgraded gym hasn't open up yet until OctoberI called corporate and they listened to all my issues that was stated aboveThey resolved my membership levelI'm publishing this because I see that other people who are also upset with the people behind the deskIssues about pricing in general Just make sure you write down the quote & their names just in case they try to change it or give informationYour better off calling corporate instead of dealing with the people at the facility because they have quotas to meet, they don't care & just want your $$$ I just saw my buddy at this gym [redacted] did the same thing to him! He mentioned about the deal to upgrade to super sport, he has only a couple of days to get the deal & the super sport gym isn't open yetIt opens in more (the time in MAY when [redacted] talked to my buddy) I'm surprised that corporate management doesn't regulate on ***'s lack of honesty & integrityhours fitness Corporate said, if the gym that you mainly goto is closing, have been going to the gym 25% of the timeYour membership will be grandfathered so that you will be able to goto the super sport gym! So why does the manager at this facility (***) tell all old members to upgrade the membership when it will be grandfathered over to the super sport gym?!? Now is that considered doing better business?

Wow!! What a super club this is I am serious this is not a joke I have never been in cleaner, safer, friendlier, knowledgeable and complete gym than this one in Keller TX All kinds of physical therapy equipment, lots of free weights, two pools, large jacussy pool, great steam room and a giant water slider for the kids I am very very greatfull Hour Fitness USA Incfor your business and for your Mgr[redacted] at the Golden Traiangle BlvdFort Worth TX location Your staff always has the equipment working the place smells clean, the place has a new radio station that ROCKS the personal trainners are super pump and I just cannot say enough good things about this club, that, by the way it always has clean towels for the members to wipe off the sweat I highly recomment this club to every age group and every race in the planet I am years old and feel like and I do not intent to stop going to your facility until I am years old Please keep this club open for the next years and again I congratulate you for your Mgr [redacted] and your employee Luis that really really enjoy their jobs Thank you, Truly, Member since

After being a long time member of hour fitness paying the outrageous month to month membership fee and bringing more people to the gym back in 2008, I complained that I was paying a higher monthly rate then the people I was bringing in To make things right, I was offered a "lifetime" pre-paid deal It was $up front for 3yrs and supposed to be $a year for the rest of my life Today I checked my bill and it went from the usual $a year to $ I called to see if there was just a mistake in billing and was informed that there was an increase in my membership dues So much for that "lifetime" membership! The lady informed my to look at section 3(c) for clarification as to 24's rights to increase my dues Well I paid the ridiculous increase so to have my renewal Here is what I don't understand nor do I feel this is good practice by In section 3(c) it states that on the monthly membership, they were capped at a 3% increase Why was my membership not subject to the same rules? I can understand the need for to have a fair increase even though I was told I was "locked" into my annual due However, to jump my membership from $to $is robbery I know that come next year if this is not resolved I will not be renewing my membership, and I will make sure to let every other member I know to leave as well I hope will do the right thing as I have had memberships to them since I know I'm also not the only one who is upset with this kind of business practice If you don't believe me, take a look at all the complaint boards and blogs happening To 24, I advise you fix this or you're most likely going to have a mass exodus on your hands At this point people are pissed off more about the money, it's the principal of the matter I'd love to discuss this further with a manager of

This IS a great location, with nice trainers and staff, however, the management Highly disappointed with the customer service here This whole experience has left a very, very nasty taste in my mouth with this gym and the entire chain I will be warning every single person I know from now on to stay away From the useless (or non existent) district manager to the soulless sales managers, runs a really bad business practice Maybe not as long are you're a member, but the moment you try to leave, you're worth nothing to them I see new people walking in all the time, fooled by the fake smiles and obsequious kow-towing of the sales team Yes, everything is rainbows and roses Until you give them your money Here's what happened: I purchased 5, 10, then sessions with my first trainer First trainer was great! First trainer leftI had sessions left I tried New Trainer, and it just wasn't great for reasons I won't go into I then talked very SALES-oriented manager [redacted] and told him I wanted to quit, but after a lot of cajoling on his end I said I would try New Trainer again and booked sessions, but then decided I just wasn't comfortable so I went with my gut and I called in to cancel because I lost New Trainer's number was told the manager would tell him I'd cancelled my sessions He never passed on my message, but I didn't know because New Trainer (unlike First Trainer) didn't text me until days after I 'missed' my appointment with him to ask if I was still down for tomorrow Confused, I told him via text I had lost his number but called the gym to cancel both sessions earlier in the week and was sorry the message never got to himI was very apologetic because it was not his faultHe never responded to thatKinda not cool Here is my problem: 1) I called in to cancel both sessions I was told they would pass on my message I even got the name of the manager who told me this, to make sureYet now when I talked to that same manager he flat out refuses to admit I called in to cancel If I didn't, why would I say via text to New Trainer that I did? Ok, I guess I'm a liar then He was also condescending and impatient the whole time, saying "It's in the policy, if you don't show up it's a missed session, we do quality checks, you never checked in for your session, etc" WELL DUH I never checked in, cause I called to cancel! I explained I understand this, the issue is not whether or not I showed up, because I clearly didn't, but the fact I called in to cancel my session and they lost the message, so I get penalized for TWO classes? I was very calm the whole time, asking only for the sessions I didn't use, which they promise to do right away At $1200, that's not cheap Either way, they promised to refund sessions, and I've yet to see a dime This was from May 7th Forward almost months later, I have not received a refund I've called customer service half a dozen times, to be told the district manager will call me back Week after week I wait, nothing This center never applied for a refund, the district manager never follows up I've sent an email to them, nothing TWELEVE HUNDRED DOLLARS I work non profit, and I sincerely invested in my fitness because I really wanted to make a difference I did great with my first trainer, and now I'm out $because this place is all about money To make things worse, [redacted] the Sales Manager also really was not respectful of First Trainer, and completely unprofessional in the way he talked about a past employee 'sure I love him he's a great guybut a littlebusiness focused, you know what I mean?' He made it very clear he didn't love that guySure, I get this employee left you, which he has every right to do, but this was done to convince me to stay with New Trainer, who was not great I find that kind of behavior (making clear you don't care for a previous employee) a bit unprofessional If you'll talk about an ex employee like that behind his back for a sale, what else will you do? Overall, this place disgusts me The company disgusts me, the managers disgusts me I've never believed in calling out people - I usually message owners separately if I had a really bad experience, giving second chances, but this place deserves it STAY AWAY

Horrible customer serviceAfter canceling my membership, I've never use by the way, agent tells me you hsve a past due amount of such and such, after being charged since August a monthly feerude representative, supervisor wouldn't get on the phone to speak to me regarding issue eitherNEVER again will I join or have my family members join this franchise
