House Master Of America Reviews (2)

I hired this company to do my home inspectionThe inspector, *** ***, inspected my home and generated a report, upon which I relied when buying the houseHe also said that his company offered a warranty if something went wrongAfter the house closed, I discovered several issues that he overlooked in his report, two of the most significant issues are a) the garage lets in water through its foundation every time it rains or moisture comes in contact, and is now affected with mold, warping, smell, and discoloration up all baseboards, frames, and walls; 2) a kitchen cabinet's back board is infested with mold and its bottom board is warped and crackedWhen I addressed these issues with him, he said about the kitchen cabinet that "he should have seen it", and pertaining to the garage he said he didn't see the grading issue because of someone leaving tools against the wall, even though I had asked him "why are the floors wet" and he said that someone probably tested the water heate

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 13, 2015/11/16) */
The home inspection performed was not for the intended consumerWe were hired by the buyer of the home, whose name is *** ***At the time, *** and *** were separatedOur obligation is to *** ***, who is our customer
*** never contacted us about any deficienciesNevertheless, once *** contacted us in regards to the water heater, we attempted to resolve the matter by sending out a plumber to assess and service the unit, if neededThe plumber was instructed by us to put in a converter kit if it did not already have oneThe water heater could be converted from an LP Gas water heater to a Natural Gas water heater by a qualified plumberHowever, once the plumber was there, the plumber was directed by *** to replace the unit and did not allow him to service the unit as we instructedThe plumber informed us that the owner insisted it gets replaced despite our attempts to service the unitThe unit was fairly new, only 3-yrs oldThe plumber informed us he simply followed ***'s instructionsIn other words, *** declined the service we offered him and took it upon himself to have the entire unit replaceHe has every right to do that, but at his expense
I've enclosed our company's "Limited Repair Reimbursement Guarantee" which states in the second paragraph of Section IV:
"Any repairs or other remedial work initiated prior to proper identification and authorization of the Company will void this Guarantee with respect to the Element so repaired."
Because *** chose to have the water heater replaced without our authorization, this voids our guarantee
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 16, 2015/11/24) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The home inspection was prepared for *** ***, I contacted House Masters on her behalf, our marital situation is not a concern within this complaintOn the day the plumber arrived in the evening and inspected the Water Heater he advised me it could not be repaired and it needed to be replaced indicating once natural gas went through the LP Water tank it was contaminated and needed to be replacedI then contacted *** *** and advised him of the findings, while we were on the line his phone rang and we both believed it the the plumber from Western Plumbing and he hung up, from that point I never hear heard from him again, I called his number numerous times to discuss a strategy for him to advise me what remedy he had planned to resolve the issueI have phone records to verify my claims to include he then called me on a Sunday four days after the plumber inspected the water heater and claimed all it needed was a converter kit, if so why did he wait four days to make this claim indicating he was out of town and could not reach usMy phone has nationwide calling a business person should have such technology as wellAll *** *** had to do was to call us and advise us that either Friday or Saturday he would ensure the problem would be resolved, he never did that, he avoided numerous phone callsHouse Masters had a obligation of Due Diligence to promptly resolve this matter, he failed to do so, We never had any intention on spending $1000.00, to resolve this concern, if the plumber could have fixed it for less we would have been glad to pay less and have a converter kit installed as the Water tank appeared to be in perfect conditionWhat *** is reporting is "Hear Say" by claiming the plumber said I wanted the water heater replaced and not have a converter kit installedI had a renter in the home who was entitled to hot waterMy wife did call the plumbing company and asked them to replace the water heater due to no further contact by House MastersI did get the plumbers phone number and spoke with him a few times that evening and asked him if he got any direction from *** he said they spoke briefly once but had not heard from him nor was any direction givenA converter kit would have taken less time and money versus a complete remove and install, the plumber said it was not possible to do, what would any person do if they were in our situation? The renter was present with the plumber and she immediately kept me apprised of the situation that's why I spoke with the plumber immediately upon his inspection, she can verify all that happened that evening as well as what was discussed with the plumber, I was not present at the home during the plumbers visitHouse Masters breached the contract when they had knowledge the water heater was not operable and made no attempts to resolve the problem, all he had to was call us that evening or the next morning and say, "I am going to fix it or have it fixed", he never called us nor did he advise us or the plumber of any remedy proposed by House Masters
