Review: We built a new home with a highly reputable area builder. On the advice of our salesman, we did a few items "by owner" including countertops from House of Stone. They were unorganized, and our saleswoman was not well-educated about either the product(s) or the process. It took months for her to get our order correct. When the time came to install them, we obviously were not yet living in the home & the kitchen island countertop was just left there for our job foreman to install on his own. They did the entire home-kitchen, laundry room, and 4 bathrooms. Our 2 youngest sons share a "jack & jill" bathroom which has a shower. Since our youngest is 2 & still takes baths, we did not spend any time in his bathroom. This week I was dusting it and noticed that the installers had fitted an improper/too-small countertop & deliberately concealed it. There is a 1/2 inch gap between the countertop & the wall and while they deliberately concealed it, it appears as though the edge is not even a straight cut from front to back. As soon as I discovered it, I immediately reported it to House of Stone. My request for help was met with smug indifference. I sent photos to them to illustrate the problem & the response was further deception & misdirection. Their tone throughout was arrogant, condescending & dismissive. They have refused to undertake a timely & reasonable solution to our problem. We have dealt with numerous sub-contractors & vendors throughout the building process and the behavior from this company has been shockingly indifferent. That a company could behave like this and remain in business is nothing short of astonishing.Desired Settlement: Immediate exchange & installation of a correctly-sized countertop.
