Houston Dragon Academy Reviews (%countItem)

I registered a summer camp at this school for my daughter. Because they failed to provide me the required information and lack of management, I want to cancel my registration and get the refund. On the receipt I got from them, they promise to return the full amount to tuition but they deducted $30 from my tuition when they issue the refund. In the mean time, their service is really bad. The manager of the school first wrote me a check. Under the "pay to " area, she wrote their schools name. Fortunately, my husband found it out so that this saved us another trip to this awful school. The second time I asked the manger to write a check, she leave the "pay to " area blank, which is strange.

To Whom It May Concern,

We started Summer Camp yesterday at our school Dragon Academy. It is a summer school for our Chinese Community here at *** in the Houston area. This customer came to our school and asked for a refund for her daughter's tuition. I told her we can refund her daughters tuition, but we can not return her registration fee; as it is clearly stated in our summer camp policy. We were very busying when she arrived as we were helping many parents pick up their kids for end of day pick up. I kindly asked her to sit in our conference room and please wait for me so that I could properly address the issue. She then began screaming and threw our flyers all over our main entrance hallway. She then began to say that we were trying to push her away. I asked her again to please calm down as I needed to send kids to their parents first and make sure they made it safely before we could discuss the issue. As she continued to scream, I then told her I needed to go back to the office to figure out the refund procedure and make a copy of the school policy. Then we returned her money, and explained referencing our school policy, the registration fee is $30.00 and nonrefundable and tuition is $1,070.00. So she paid $1100, we refund $1070. I also, have video footage of the incident if needed to clear up any mishaps. This is what happened, I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Please reference the link below as it is Dragon Academy's school policy.

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.

When I was registered the summer camp, they didn't explain me that they would charge $30 registration fee. If they did, please provide it. I confirmed that the tuition will be refunded

for the full tuition if I cancel the program within one week it starts. I have attached my receipt clearing showed $1100 under the tuition column.

In addition, after I registered their program, I receive no confirmation either by email or phone call. I called two days before the start date of the program, I was told they already sent email

information to everyone but missed me. They asked me to provide the email AGAIN and sent me an email of welcome message and a list of stuff I need to bring. Then I asked them to

send me the schedule of the course but there was no response. I continued to call them during their working hours but nobody answered the phone. Based on the quality of their service,

I decided to cancel the program. I finally made a successful call and the man politely promised that they will refund the TUITION and asked me to come to their school at 5:30- 6:00pm.

I arrived at around $5:50pm. I waited until my turn but instead of assisting me, the woman name *** led me to the meeting room and asked me to wait. Then she came to assist

someone who came later than me. When I asked her to solve my problem and asked why others was taken care before me, she made an excuse that my case if complicated and need

more time. In fact, all she needs to do was write a check. Maybe it is really a tough job for her. The first time, she put her school's name under the "pay to " area. Fortunately, my

husband, who has been waiting for me outside, found the mistake and saved me a trip. When she wrote another check for me, she left the "pay to " area blank so I had to come back

again and asked her to write down the name. I finally understand how hard it is to write a RETRUN check.

In summary, they claim they will return the TUITION fees and it is clearly showed on my receipt, it is $1100. I am a pregnant mother and I work hard for my family and kids. I won't let

my $30 robbed by the company who is not qualified for their service. They should not even exist in the world. I also want your help to check whether their receipt is legal. Thank you.

Regards

Dear all, The customer stated that the $30 registration fee was not explained to her. However, the company policy is clearly visible on the registration form (an online copy has been attached with the policy highlighted), also showed that on line (http://houstondragonacademy.org/registration/summer-camp-registration/ ).Furthermore, on the customer’s receipt (also attached), Houston Dragon Academy’s refund policy was stated once again as well as underlined. The receipt reads: “?????????????” (Translation: “Registration fees for the semester are nonrefundable”). Furthermore, the $30 fee was written separately from the tuition before the two were added to make the total cost ($1100=$280/weeks -Art camp tuition*4 weeks +$30 Registration fee - $50 early registration before 5/15/2018 discount ) which was written at the bottom of the receipt, the detail also show below on the copy of check and see the attachment original form.
In response to the customer’s complaint about communication difficulties, we must state that summer registration is a busy time for the company. Although we try our best to cater to all our customers, occasionally, one or two emails may slip through the cracks due to filing errors. We are always regretful and apologetic, and the company attempts to fix any mistakes as soon as the issue is brought to our attention. In this particular instance, we immediately sent her the email that had missed her. Afterwards, the customer attempted to contact us on Saturday, June 2 through the phone and through email. While we would normally be open during Saturdays, on that particular day, our school and office were closed due to the fact that we were between seasonal sessions (our spring semester weekend school and our summer camp). Because we were at a hectic time, trying to prepare for summer classes while simultaneously caring for the kids under our care, any and all staff must be ready to watch the kids at all times, especially because the kids are our top priority.
The customer arrived on the first day of summer camp during dismissal time. Because it was the first time many kids and parents had come to our camp, all staff were busy organizing student pick up’s in order to make the process move as smoothly and safely as possible. The customer was asked to wait in the conference room until a representative could speak with her. After making sure that dismissals would not be impeded, the representative had to verify that the customer’s original payment was actually cashed to the bank. The stressful atmosphere and the customer’s actions and words may have caused the representative to make some mistakes when filling out the checks, and she also fixed immediately when the customer showed it to her . The school also have video footage of the incident if needed to clear up any mishaps. This is what happened, we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
While we regret that we cannot refund the registration fee to this customer, it is our company policy and was clearly stated in multiple forms. Our primary goal is to provide a safe, meaningful environment for the children so that they can have the best care and education possible, and because of this, the rules of our business are very important. We cannot deviate from the company policy. We still appreciate the customer tried to make choices for our school.
Best Regards!
