The product they offer is falsely addvertised to match another product but does not.Houts enterprises sells a paint product called Blackhawk coyote tan. This is supposed to be an exact match to the other goods blackhawk offers. After applying the phouts product it is easy to see it doesn't match. I contacted them via email to inform them of this issue. In return I got terrible customer service. Instead of taking responsibility for their misadvertised product. They blamed it on the manufacturer. They told me there are color variations in blackhawk products. Even though I know this to be false because I have lots of their equipment and it all is a spot on match. All in all it has been a bad experience. I tried to help other customers avoid this problem by informing houts of the issue and all they have done is danced around the responsibility that they won't accept. The product is still on their site. And they have done nothing and made no effort to resolve the issue I have. Desired Settlement I think they should make some effort to appease me as a customer. I feel that the first step to doing that is accepting responsibility for their error. I also feel that they should apologize for the inconvenience and trying to put the blame on others. Lastly I think there should be some compensation for this. Weather they do that through a refund,shipment of correct color, and or credit for future purchase I am not certain. But some action should be taken to make it right.Business Response Our Customer's complaint from his original email was "I recently purchased a dura-coat shake and spray kit. The color I purchased was blackhawk coyote tan. I got the color to match my sling and the rest of the parts I have in the same color. The paint looks great but the color is way off."On every page we have firearms finishes in different colors for sale we have a COLOR INFO tab at the top of each page, on that page is the following information;"Images of specific colors on this web site are for general reference only. The Color Deck is the most accurate way to see what the different colors look like. When receiving your DuraCoat if the color is not what you want do not apply it. DuraCoat is resin not paint and does not change color significantly after curing. We can authorize a return and try our best to get you the color you want.DuraCoat colors will not necessarily be an exact match for a manufacturer's named color like BlackHawk or Magpul. Manufacturer's colors will vary sometimes in a production run. If you want an exact match we have a Color Match Product on this page."In a series of email exchanges with the customer he said "It turns out I missed that part. About it not changing color when cured and the other information. But you have it advertised as blackhawk coyote tan and it most definitely is not blackhawk coyote tan. It is already on the rifle. So it's going to stay that way. I'm just disappointed that it doesn't match. In the future I will likely have to get the chip book for my shop."It was further explained to him that "It matched blackhawk coyote tan when the color was created. Just like Magpul Flat Dark Earth we have over 18 different shades of Magpul FDE that Magpul has produced in stocks, grips, forearms, etc. over many years from parts customers have sent in for color matching".The color as named BlackHawk Coyote Tan is the closest match we have to that color however, since manufacturer's colors change from production run to run we do not guarantee it to be an exact match, and if that is what you want then you need to send in a part for color matching.Finally, to help mitigate this problem in the future we have added to every color named after a manufacturer's color a link in the color's description "Manufacturer's Color & DuraCoat Colors" which takes them to the same COLOR INFO page as the link at the top of every page.We never claimed that any manufacture's named color is an exact match, in fact it is just the opposite as stated in the COLOR INFO page. When I purchased the product magpul was the only listed manufacturer color that had variants. It wasn't until five of six emails. That I got the response from them that they would be adding the same information to the rest of their manufacturer colors. It seems clear to me that if they are going to add additional information to the product I purchased, that they have accepted they were wrong. I'm glad they are doing that to help their future customers. I still think they should make some kind of accommodation for me. Because the information that it wouldn't be a perfect match was not available to me when I purchased the product from them. Had I known that the Blackhawk coyote tan wouldn't be a perfect match to the authentic blackhawk coyote tan I wouldn't have purchased it in the first place. Final Business Response The customer takes no responsibility to read the information that is at the top of every page regarding colors. Every thing in business is set up for the customer, there is however no where to complain about customers. As I said before if he would have contacted me and asked for new colors we do this all the time. However, since he choose to make a formal complaint with the Revdex.com instead, we will take the hit and move on.This information is at the top of every page "When receiving your DuraCoat if the color is not what you want do not apply it. However, since this customer choose to file a complaint instead of asking up front for a new color or kit, then we are done. Revdex.com, does not realize or care the customer choose not to ask in the beginning for a new color or kit, but just to go to the complaint process. They apparently believe it is not the customer's responsibility to make informed decisions bases on the information that is available on every page.We have had I believe 2 complaints in 11 years. So apparently we must be doing something right. I will put our record up against any other company. Final Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)This company has dragged it's feet the entire time. Blaming it on manufacturer variants, claiming to not have had a complaint in 10 years, and even after accepting that they were wrong claiming they are better than any other retailer of this product. The fact is, no matter how much information was on your website it lacked the key information that it does not match Blackhawks coyote tan. That is the most important piece of information that they did not have when I made my purchase. It is there now, so at least future customers won't have the issues I had. But it's clear that they don't stand by their products. I would not recommend this retailer to anyone. If you are reading this review, thinking about ordering from Houts Enterprises I would strongly suggest that you buy it somewhere else. From the start of the complaint I've had numerous suggestions of how we could resolve the situation. They disregarded all the suggestions and made absolutely no effort to keep their customer happy. All in all terrible service. Stay away from Houts Enterprises.
