Dear ***,
We appreciate your most recent inquiry regarding complaint ID# *** for our customer *** *** ***As always we are very appreciative of what you do at the Revdex.com and are always interested in settling any dispute where our valued customers felt as though they were
not dealt with properly. In this case, we were quite surprised to receive a Revdex.com letter because of all of the lengthy attempts we've made to satisfy this customerThe customer appeared with a complaint that we installed a tire on the wrong wheelAfter reviewing it with them, they admitted there may have been some confusion as to which wheel they told us to serviceWhen we tried to remove the lugs from the correct wheel, one of the lugs was stripped and the stud broke, resulting in the customer needing to replace a studThey felt as though we should have done a better job at understanding their needs even though they miscommunicated and felt they should be given a discount for replacing the studWe offered a five dollar discount for our services and she appreciated our offer as sincere and thanked usIn closing, I think you can appreciate our surprise to her complaintMoreover, she is not our customerHer boyfriend is our customer and we have no records under her nameIf she would like to provide us with his information, we could provide exact dates and service records to substantiate both of our claims, and to give you a better picture of this situationWe do believe we have satisfied this misunderstanding and hope that after they have taken some time to look back on this situation, they will also agree with our positionBest regards,Howard H

Dear ***,
Thank you so much for the opportunity to respond to the complaint Issued #*** regarding *** *** ***As always we appreciate all that you do in consideration of our valued customersIn this case, when *** *** brought her vehicle to us, it did not have interior
heatUpon Inspection of her vehicle, it did have a leak at the water pump, which would cause the coolant level to drop and would not allow enough coolant to reach the heater core to heat the vehicleThe water pump is located behind the timing cover in this vehicle*** *** approved the repairs, which included replacing the water pump, timing cover gasket, an upper radiator hose, a thermostat, two connectors for the water pump, refilling the coolant, and an oil change (which was recommended due to removing the timing cover)When the repairs were completed, the heat was working and did not show any symptoms of having any malfunction.Unfortunately, there appears to have been debris in the coolant system which was not apparent at the time of the repairs, While the customer resists the idea, we suspect this debris may have been caused by *** ***, the residue of which was visibly present in her coolant systemWhen *** *** picked up her vehicle, the debris had settled and formed a blockage at the heater core, causing the heat to stop working in the cabinUpon her return, we recommended a heater core flush to eliminate the remaining debris in her coolant system, and offered her a 50% discount to accommodate her in consideration of the amount of money already spent at that timeThe heater core flush required additional time and materials that would have been additional to her at the time of her original repair order, but we had no reason to believe this was necessaryUpon completion of the heater core flush, which she approved and paid for, the heat worked and continued to work before it left our care.
We sympathize with *** *** for having to spend such a significant amount of money this close to the holiday seasonWe attempted to satisfy her concerns for her expense with a discount which reduced the price of the - heater core flush to our costThe needs of our customers are our top priority at Howard Tire & Auto, and we treat each of these matters with the utmost sincerity and concernWe hope that this helps her better understand the process in repairing and flushing systems and how easily the *** *** or debris could be dislodged after the repairWe highly discourage the use of any *** *** products if it can be avoided so that this problem will not occur in the future,
Sincerely,Howard HOwner / President

May 31, 2016Dear ***,Thank you for the opportunity to respond to the complaint by *** *** ***, complaint #***We are sorry to hear that *** *** has an issue with his center caps, or emblems, which are plastic adornments that attach to cover the hole in the center of the wheelThe
plastic clips that hold the caps on the wheels often become brittle over time as the plastic expands and contracts and will eventually break and come offRemoving the center caps is necessary when replacing the tires in order to balance themA harmonic balancer is used to balance the wheelsThe center caps must be removed in order to place the wheel on the shaft of the balancer, which goes through the center hole of the wheelThe center cap must always be removed in order to balance the tire, and is a standard operation in all tire shopsAlthough the center caps were made to be removed and replaced, center caps can often develop microscopic cracks in the plastic and break offWe often see this happen, dealing with vehicles over years old, especially in *** products such as ***.Our store policy, which is posted in several locations throughout our shop and waiting room, states that wheel accessories, including center caps, are solely the responsibility of the customer to maintainBecause weathered plastic may splinter or crack beyond our control during repair, we cannot take responsibility for such itemsWe are fully aware of the problems plaguing these plastic wheel adornments, and train our staff to be gentle and conscientious when removing and replacing themIf a center cap appears as though it will not stay on the wheel, we will inform the customer that it may fall offAt the time of service, we did not notice any damage apparent to the center capsWe are sorry to hear that *** ***'s caps have fallen off after six monthsThere are several low-cost options to replace these pieces, which may be found on the internet, and we sincerely hope that *** *** may find an affordable solution. We thank you for your attention to this matter and hope that our response has been informative and may resolve *** ***'s concerns.Best Regards,Howard H.President / Owner

Dear [redacted],This letter is in response to Claim #[redacted] for [redacted]. As always we are very appreciative of what you do at the Revdex.com and are always interested in settling any dispute where our valued customers feel as though they were not dealt with properly.[redacted] arrived with flashing...

check engine light complaining that he was told by another garage that he needed spark plug wires to complete a tune up he had done with them but refused it stating the cost was expensive, that he would complete the replacement of the spark plug wires himself, but believed there was another condition they did not identify. We cautioned [redacted] that a flashing check engine light was a stop notice and could easily cause damage to multiple components of his emissions system, including O2 sensors and catalytic converters. Upon completing our diagnostic test we found multiple random misfires in bank 1. After continued testing we identified oxygen sensor bank 1 sensor 1 was giving a false reading, suggesting the O2 sensor was Indicating a rich condition while post O2 sensor was showing extremely lean on bank 1, Fuel trim showed a lean condition as a result of an inaccurate reading from O2 sensor bank 1 sensor 1. We verified this test by manually trying to cause the O2 sensor in question to go lean by removing a vacuum line, the O2 sensor continued to show a rich condition. The result was to replace the O2 sensor bank 1 sensor 1. This remedied the condition and the misfires were absent upon completion of the road test.Customer returned to pick up his vehicle in the rain, complaining it was misfiring. Upon checking the vehicle we arrived at the conclusion that the moisture of the heavy rain was causing all cylinders to show a random misfire, which indicated again faulty spark plug wires. We again offered to give an estimate to replace the wires and [redacted] refused, saying he would replace his own wires. He returned several days later stating he had a new code [redacted] and that the Catalytic converter I replaced almost a year ago was defective, while completely ignoring all of the information we had offered about the dangers of the random misfires possibly causing the O2's and catalytic converter to fail,Faulty spark plug wires will cause raw fuel to be dumped into the exhaust, where it will heat up to dangerously high temperatures, and foul out O2 sensors, and ruin Catalytic converters, which act as filters for the exhaust system,[redacted] was told to bring his vehicle to us in order for us to ascertain if the Catalytic Converter was indeed defective. If it was defective, we would be glad to replace the part for him at no charge. When [redacted] arrived, he demanded that we agree to replace the Catalytic Converter at no charge before we had even looked at the vehicle to diagnose the problem. We explained that this was impossible, as the parts manufacturer to whom we would return the supposedly defective part would require us to diagnose the problem and prove that it was defective. He left without any service performed, visibly upset.Knowing [redacted] was upset, Howard called him and explained to him that we would replace the catalytic converter for him, at no charge, so long as the catalytic converter was found to be defective. If we examined the converter and found that the case was melted, it would indicate that burnt fuel had superheated and ruined it, thereby voiding the warranty. [redacted] agreed to bring it back to us,The following day, when he returned to us, [redacted] again demanded that we replace the converter with no questions asked, and was unreasonable when Howard attempted to again explain the conditions upon which his warranty was based. [redacted] left again upset, stating that unless we replaced his converter at no charge without inspecting it, he would not return to us for service. We believe that [redacted] indeed understands that his spark plug wires have caused misfires which in turn have ruined his catalytic converter. His Insistence upon us replacing the converter without inspecting it for defects Is suspect. We are more than happy to inspect the converter and will replace it under warranty if it is indeed defective.Best Regards,Howard H.President / Owner

Dear [redacted],We appreciate your most recent inquiry regarding complaint ID# [redacted] for our customer [redacted]. As always we are very appreciative of what you do at the Revdex.com and are always interested in settling any dispute where our valued customers felt as though they were not dealt with properly. In this case, we were quite surprised to receive a Revdex.com letter because of all of the lengthy attempts we've made to satisfy this customer. The customer appeared with a complaint that we installed a tire on the wrong wheel. After reviewing it with them, they admitted there may have been some confusion as to which wheel they told us to service. When we tried to remove the lugs from the correct wheel, one of the lugs was stripped and the stud broke, resulting in the customer needing to replace a stud. They felt as though we should have done a better job at understanding their needs even though they miscommunicated and felt they should be given a discount for replacing the stud. We offered a five dollar discount for our services and she appreciated our offer as sincere and thanked us.In closing, I think you can appreciate our surprise to her complaint. Moreover, she is not our customer. Her boyfriend is our customer and we have no records under her name. If she would like to provide us with his information, we could provide exact dates and service records to substantiate both of our claims, and to give you a better picture of this situation. We do believe we have satisfied this misunderstanding and hope that after they have taken some time to look back on this situation, they will also agree with our position.Best regards,Howard HPresident/owner

Review: I took my car in to get a boost leak test recently, it is a vehicle with a turbocharger. I checked the basics before taking it in(the vac lines and for any cracked hoses) the vac lines were fine and I couldn't spot any cracked or worn hoses. He did the boost leak testband said there wasn't a leak and he was using "The best method possible." for detecting leaks. He said he could fix it, but it might take a few hours and I would be paying by the hour. I told him that would be fine. After two, maybe two and a half hours total he said it was fixed and said the vac lines were switched, I thanked him and paid and was on my way. I turned my radio on after driving a little bit, and my brand new speakers were blown. I had just bought them online and installed them less than a week before. The vehicle was building boost like crazy, well above the maximum boost for the car. (hitting almost 20psi very easily, about 50% throttle) I got the vehicle home and looked at my lines again. One vac line was coming from the wastegate. I figured it was just something that happened as he was cleaning up or something. I ordered a the new vac-line T/hoses with restrictor pill and removed the old lines. I then realized he had shoved a nail in the vac line connected to the wastegate, causing it to be held wide open - which causes the wastegate to be held wide open, not allowing for boost to be controlled. If you don't control the boost, your turbo or engine could blow easily.Desired Settlement: I know this isn't going to happen, but I would like the speakers to be replaced with the same type I installed days before going to the shop, as well as a refund for the "work" that was done for myself.

To Whom It May Concern,

We want to thank you as always for bringing any matters that our customers may have to our attention through you. It Is why we use your services. In this case, we are somewhat perplexed by the claimant's concerns. Our protocol first requires that when a car is received into our shop that the radio is turned off and the windows are put down so that the keys arc not locked in the car and so that we can identify any noises without being inhibited by any other secondary causes. The customer verifies that we did that by stating that when he returned to his car he turned his radio on, which means that he possibly blew his speakers before he arrived at our shop and didn't realize it. We take no offense to his allegations.

Addressing th6 repairs, it is somewhat peculiar to us that the customer would pay for us to repair their vehicle, sit for two and half to three hours, leave our shop holding their throttle wide open, complain that it wasn't running right, and not return immediately or even make a telephone call stating that he was dissatisfied. Instead, he chose to make the repairs himself, and require us to reimburse him for his repairs. This is what we believe is his motive. Concerning a nail in the waste gate to hold it wide open: If you hold a waste gate wide open, it does not allow for boost A closed waste gate allows for boost. We do not use hails. We believe that he used a nail and when his hail did not work he ordered T* hoses and a restrictor pill to gain horse power. That is his quest.

After we smoke tested and tested for pressures, identified the problem and test drove the vehicle on a long pull in fifth gear, the vehicle tested at 13.75 psi which is very adequate. The fact that he was working on it after we repaired the vehicle and didn't allow us the opportunity to address his concerns for our work negates any claims he has against us.

We sincerely thank you for the opportunity to address these issues and we value this customer. We hope that this helps him understand how he might want to do business with us in the future or any other business in the marketplace when he has a complaint,

Sincerely,

Review: We took our daughters car in for Inspection at Howard Tire on 11/16/13..Prior to inspection we requested they contact us before they made any repairs on the car. I recieved a phone call telling me that the care had passed the safety inspection but would need a serpentine belt and filter in the near future. I asked if we could wait a few weeks for the replacement and was told it should be fine. I was then told her check engine light was on and the car would need put on the machine to see what was wrong. At this point the total I was given for the services was approx 165.00. They called back saying that they found the problem and selnoid unit needed replaced and this would in total come to 396.00 and that after that her car would be good to go. I told them to go ahead and do the repair. When my husband and daughter went to pick up the car they were advised, after she had already paid for the repairs that the inspection stickers could not be put on until she drove 150 miles. Our issue at this point was not that she had to do this but that we at no point were advised of this prior to making the payment. Also even though the car passed the safety insepection he refused to put that sticker on. They were told after the 150 miles all she needed to do was bring the car in and have them verify the check engine light had not come on. She did that today 11/21 and was advised by a man who said he is the mangager that this is not the case and she had to have it put back on the machine, costing her more money before they can do this. He refused to let her talk to the original person who helped her. This shop is as crooked as they come. There is no way you can whithold information and then make changes when people come in to have service done. At this point she is out 400 and still has no inspection stickers on her car. We are at the point we are going to take it to a different dealer and have a new inspection done and feel that Howard Tire should reimburse her the 156 for the inspection which they never completed. Obviously they did the work for the parts and we are willing to have paid for those parts and labor.Desired Settlement: A cash refund for the amount of the inspection which was never completed due to fradulant information provided from this business.

Review: I went to Howards' Tires to have my heat in my car repairedIt has not been working since I have been using this mechanic for the last years and never had any issue with themWhen the mechanic called he told me that my water pump needed replace, that I needed a new thermostat, That my coolant needed replace, an oil change, and a new radiator coverThis all came out to $I thought that that was a high estimate, but trusted them because I've been going there for the last yearsWhen I got to the shop to pick my car up, I paid then went out to my carI sat in the parking lot for awhile to see if my car heated upIt did notI went back in and asked if there was a reason why my car was not heating upThe man at the desk then proceeded to tell me how my heating system workedHe told me to drive it awhile, it needed to heat up moreI drove it all the way home, and still no heat, it was still blowing out cold aidI immediately called back and told themThe manager told me to bring it back in, "that it had to be something simple." I took it right back in, and after waiting another minutes, the manager came out and asked me if I ever had quick fill put into my radiatorI said no, I have never had work done to that part of my car (I have owned it since 2004) It had one previous ownerHe told me that it could either be a clogged hose or the heating coreHe said that to check the hose would be $139.00, but would do it for $My complaint is, I feel that unnecessary work was done to my car, because afterwards all that needed to be done was clear the tube.Of course I have no proof and it's my word against theirBut after spending nearly $to begin with, the problem should have been fixed, and to add insult to injury, I had to pay an additional $to actually get it fixed when it already should have been.Desired Settlement: I know that work was done on my car, but feel the additional money paid was unfair
