The first technician we sent to customer's home on 12/04/diagnosed damper not closing due to failed motor and smashed plenum box causing damper to bind while trying to closeThis is stated on the original invoice signed by customerThe second technician returned with damper motor and attempted to straighten out plenum box by cutting into and accessing duct board which is practice due to designThis does not cause damage by any means because duct board plenums are made to be cut to access or to attach more ductingThe customer felt slight air flow due to builder design to relieve excess air pressure when upstairs or downstairs zone is running aloneThis is normally done with an added barometric damper which most builders do not use due to added install cost so they relieve air to other zones in order to not stress the equipmentTech sealed the access he madeHome owner became combative when tech was trying to explain the operationI had my tech leave to avoid any further verbal abuse by customer
I am rejecting this response because: The response is factually inaccurate in multiple respectsFirst, when the technician completed his repairs there was no noticeable reduction to the hot air coming out of the upstairs ventsWhen Elite came out and fixed the problem the improvement was immediately apparentSecond, I was not combatative - I merely indicated that it was not improved and I would not pay for repairs unless they were completely properlyI believe this is merely being put forth as an excuse for their unacceptable conductAs for the business's technical description of the repair, I cannot speak to that, as I am not an expert on heating repairI can only reiterate what was reported by *** from *** *** *** ***He indicated that the technician had cut into the plenum, that he should never have done that, and that the integrity of the system was compromised as a result

close. This is stated on the original invoice signed by customer. The second technician returned with damper motor and attempted to straighten out plenum box by cutting into and accessing duct board which is normal practice due to design. This does not cause damage by any means because duct board plenums are made to be cut to access or to attach more ducting. The customer felt slight air flow due to builder design to relieve excess air pressure when upstairs or downstairs zone is running alone. This is normally done with an added barometric damper which most builders do not use due to added install cost so they relieve air to other zones in order to not stress the equipment. Tech sealed the access he made. Home owner became combative when tech was trying to explain the operation. I had my tech leave to avoid any further verbal abuse by customer.
