On August 31, 2015, *** (***) *** brought his personal laptop computer into our facility here at HPD Computer Repair, in Roseburg, OregonMr*** had checked it in for a free diagnostics, something we offer to all our customersUpon testing his Hard Drive with a program
we use called "Hard Disk Sentinel", we determined that it's overall health was at approximately 16% with bad sectors, and was most certainly to blame for his troublesWe recommended he allow us to replace this Hard Drive with one of our new ones, and allow us to re-install his Operating System on the new drive. We recommended replacing the drive, which we sell for $50.00, and allowing us to move forward on about 6-hours of labor (of which we would only charge him for of the hours, at $an hour, totalling $in labor, plus the drive ($50.00), equalling a total of $Another thing to note is that in addition to only charging him for hours of the 8+ hours of labor, we also attempt to transfer all of our customer's data from their failing hard drive's to the new ones that we install (which we do with no guarantee of course because We are doing it for free, and We have no power of the succesffulness of a data transfer from a failing Hard Drive, it is up to each person to consistently back up their computer as they use it and we explain this TIRELESSLY to customers on a DAILY basis, as we did to Mr***In fact we were actually able to save most of his data and transfer it! Mr*** has apparently been to Staples since his visit to us and recieved misguided information, although I'm confused because he had returned to our store multiple times, without what seemed to be any real problem, just kept stating "It's just not working rightI'm just not happy.".I expressed great concern each time he visited and spent all the time he wanted with him, each time, to show him that his computer had in fact turned out quite well, was no longer having a problem with the hard drive, and that most of his data was successfully transferedOf course I also stressed to him the importance of backing up his data consistently so as to avoid potential data loss in the future (if a hard drive were to fail on him again).To my knowledge Mr*** left very satisfied, and understanding, each time he had left, INCLUDING the final timeWhich is why the initiation of this dispute is all the more confusing to me.We at HPD Computer Repair, feel ABSOLUTELY CONFIDENT that we have done EVERYTHING we possibly can, going above and beyond the call of duty, to make sure Mr*** was taken care of, and we will continue to do this with ALL of our customers as they are all equally important to us.
