H&R Construction Reviews (2)

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
My aunt did have several jobs done by H&R Construction but each job was exactly what they requested.  They are still waiting for them to return to finish their kitchen for work they promised to do in March. My parents original phone call was to have H&R put a washer and dryer upstairs after theirs broke.  They told them what they wanted when they came to their house for an estimate.  They were told it was impossible and would have to redo their entire master bathroom to have a washer and dryer upstairs.  They were also going to have 2  1/2 baths remodeled as well.  On March 25, Mr. [redacted] gave us 3 separate contracts as we requested.  He waited for  them to sign them immediately, told them to get $7,075 cash from their bank and meet him at [redacted].    Regards,
[redacted]

We are willing to pay him $500 for his time but will not pay for a special order shower door that was never mentioned or put into the contract. We would like the remaining $6575 returned to my parents.

Thank you,

Review: This contractor came to do a home estimate and pressured my mother [redacted] into signing total of three contracts and paying deposit in cash in excess of $7000 to avoid paying taxes. Instead of giving my parents time to process anything he continued to accelerate the process and not give them any time to think. My father had Parkinson's and my mother gets frazzled easily and felt intimidated by [redacted]. Once reviewing the products the contractor ordered to do the job none of the products ordered fit our request and the contractor wanted to charge additional money to complete job the way it was originally described to Mr.[redacted] from H&R Construction. When Mr.[redacted] was contacted from a friend of mine to attempt to resolve the issue for a $500 payment and restocking fee of a shower sliding door, Mr.[redacted] was completely unreasonable and did not budge from his original cancellation rate. There is no mention of any cancellation fees or any mention of special order or supply restocking fee on the contract we only became aware when we attempted to cancel.Desired Settlement: Lower the cancellation fee to $500.

Response:

To: Revdex.com From: [redacted] (Owner) I.D. # [redacted] I was referred to The [redacted]’s by Mrs. [redacted]’s sister [redacted], who I have done several jobs for and has been a satisfied recurring customer. The first visit to The [redacted]’s home we went over a few ideas/options to fit their washer and dryer in the master bathroom. They choose to proceed with what the contract states and asked for estimates on addition bathrooms in the residence. The homeowners then agreed and signed a contract that states when signed it binds them to the contract and work to be scheduled. We then met at the [redacted] (with [redacted] present) so The [redacted]’s could pick out the material. I spent 3 ½ hours with The [redacted]’s designing and picking out material, I then spent an additional 5 hours at the [redacted] ordering and pulling material off the shelf. They picked and approved everything. If The [redacted]’s felt so pressured then why did they spend 3 ½ hours with me picking out material and also asked me to also do their additional bathrooms? One week before demo they wanted to cancel everything after all material was purchased. Including a glass shower door I ordered thru the internet that is non refundable. The homeowners were never pressured into anything and were also very excited to start the projects on their home. When contract is signed it binds homeowner for materials to be ordered and work to be scheduled, it also states that in the contract. I have been in business for over 5 years and have never had anyone say I was forcing them into a contract. I am more then happy to solve this issue and to give the deposit back minus the cost of the shower door (because it is nonrefundable) and for my time spent in the [redacted] ordering and pulling material for a job on my schedule. Sincerely, [redacted] H&R Construction, LLC [redacted]
