Initial Business Response / [redacted] (1000, 21, 2015/12/03) */ Dear Dr [redacted] , I am responding to a request for information related to the dental treatment of [redacted] by me (Dr [redacted] )The treatment of tooth number was begun on 4/28/ I have included a copy of our office records of Mr [redacted] 's treatmentI have highlighted the pertinent entries in yellow I placed a gold crown on a fractured tooth number Shortly thereafter the pulp became hyperemic and required a root canal treatmentThere was no exposure of the pulp during preparation of the tooth I and my office manager had a meeting with Mr [redacted] and attempted to explain to him how pulps occasionally become hyperemic after the tooth has undergone treatmentDr [redacted] offered to meet with Mr [redacted] and explain what he saw when he treated Mr***Mr [redacted] refused a consultation with Dr*** The root canal treatment was successful and number is now very comfortable, according to Mr [redacted] Now Mr [redacted] expects me to pay for his entire treatment, which I refuse to doi treated this case as I would any other caseWhen a dentist treats a tooth for a crown, he/she has no way of knowing how the pulp will respond to the preparationAs you know, some pulps respond negatively to treatment If, after reading the record, you feel! should meet with the committee, I will be willing to do so Initial Consumer Rebuttal / [redacted] (3000, 23, 2015/12/06) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) In the response Dr [redacted] states, "I and my office manager had a meeting with Mr [redacted] and attempted to explain to him how pulps occasionally become hyperemic after the tooth has undergone treatment." and "When a dentists treats a crown for a tooth he/she has no way of knowing how the pulp will respond to the preparation." Unfortunately, he never said that to me prior to me agreeing to the crownIf this is true, it would have been used by me to make my decision to have a crown put on or not, on a tooth that, after the serrated edge was smoothed, was causing me no pain or even discomfort Also, when I was contacted by Dr [redacted] 's office, the office staff person who called me said that Dr [redacted] and Dr [redacted] had breakfast that morning, and that Dr [redacted] asked Dr [redacted] to schedule a follow up appointment with meThey never said anything that the reason for the appointment was so that Dr [redacted] could explain anything to me, but rather it was for a "follow up" I explained that Dr [redacted] was no longer my dentists, so he had no authority to ask Dr [redacted] to schedule an appointment for me, I had no more pain in the tooth, and I had already spent enough money on this tooth that I regretted having a crown put on, so I had no reason to come in for an appointment and spend more money This is not the only crown I have had, but it is the first one that has caused me so much pain and agony, and cost Dr [redacted] failed to inform me of all the risks involved in the procedure, then when he realized he had done an terrible job, lied to me to cover up his incompetence, then coerced a colleague to change what he said to cover for him I have an meeting with Dr [redacted] and a group of dentists from the Northern Indiana Dental Association who are Dr [redacted] 's peers on the evening of 12/8/to see if they can try and resolve the matterThat is what Dr [redacted] 's letter to DrSheline was for, not a response to the Revdex.comIt is obvious Dr [redacted] doesn't want to settle this easily So, if it is the opinion of his peers that he settle this with me and he still stubbornly disagrees, then I will return to my counsel, who advised me to try other options first, and discuss further options, including litigation in the public courts, where I will no longer be willing to settle for my out of pocket expense for the root canal, but will also ask for monetary compensation for time lost at work, travel expenses, and pain and suffering
