Since 2015, I've been forced to deal with HSA. About every 2-3 months, I end up spending hours on the phone with them because they messed something up. From improper billing, to failure to actually renew my health insurance. I've shown up to doctors appointments and they tell me that my health insurance wasn't active so I have to go home or pay out of pocket. I have auto-pay set up. ***is constantly sending my Provider the wrong information.. They changed our address incorrectly and without being prompted. They billed me for 3 months of insurance even-though they forgot to re-enroll my family. I was assured that I'd be issued a refund check, which I've never received. Recently, the re-enrolled me, but forgot my wife and child. It's only when we go to use our insurance that someone tells us that something isn't right.
If I never have to deal with HSA again, it would be too soon. I cannot stress enough how negative of an experience that I've had with them.

The law firm I work for elected to change insurance companies and we used a broker to do so. I spoke with the broker at length and chose a plan. I specifically asked him when the first deduction would come out. He stated it would be January 24th. On December 6th I had a deduction of $357.00 from my checking account. I never agreed to this date, furthermore the amount I was told I would be paying was $305.00. I called the broker who was completely unprofessional and unethical to chose not to disclose that the money would likely be taken far before what he stated. I called HSA directly on the 6th and terminated my policy and requested a refund immediately be issued. I was told sorry but we only issue refunds on the 10th and the 20th. Your check will be sent on the 10th of December. I never received my refund. I called this morning December 18th and was told yes your check should have gone on the 10th but for no explainable reason it did not. I was further told it would now go on the 20th which means it will not be received this week. I asked for a supervisor and was transferred to a voice mail. I did leave a voice mail and received no return call. I called again and was told sorry nothing we can do although we take the money directly from your account we just cant put it right back. This is my money that I never agreed to have withdrawn in December, I was told it would be issued on the 10th it was not. I am being asked to continuously wait until they feel like reimbursing me.

Please accept our apologizes for the misunderstanding of when the electronic payment would be withdrawn from your account. The first month's payment is withdrawn after your application has been approved (on average, within 1-3 business days after the application is submitted to HSA Insurance). The second and ongoing monthly payments will be withdrawn on the day of the month you selected as the recurring payment date.

We issued refund check # *** dated 12/21/2017 in the amount of $357.77. Due to the holidays the check may not have been mailed until Tuesday, 12/26/2017. Please confirm that you received this check.

I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # ***.

I am rejecting this response as most of the concerns that were addressed in my complaint have not been addressed.

1. The broker that you allow to sell your products was asked the DIRECT question when will a deduction from my bank account come, I was told multiple times nothing will come out before the January date. He was asked a direct question and instead of being truthful and wanting whatever commission he would receive he knowingly and willingly gave me inaccurate information. Regardless if he is a broker or not he is essentially selling YOUR product and is therefore to make sure that he is truthful, professional, and ethical all of which he was not.

2. The price I was told and agreed to was $305.00 the amount your company took from my bank account was $357.00. Not one time did anyone under your employment contact me to ensure I would want the plan at $52.00 more a month. I never one time agreed to that dollar amount yet you felt it fine to pull it out of my account.

3. When I called on December 6th to cancel- the very same morning you pulled money from my account, I was told unfortunately while it takes seconds to pull the money unfortunately refund checks only go out on the 10th and 20th of each month. I was told with certainty my check would be mailed out on the 10th. When I never received it I called again to be told yes it should have gone out on the 10th and I have no reason it did not but obviously it did not. I was further told your check will now go on December 20th and there was nothing anyone could do to expedite this process. Also bear in mind this was right before Christmas and to me $357.00 is a substantial amount of money. The inability and unwillingness to process my refund timely caused a financial strain that but other financial obligations in jeopardy. Lastly, yes I received the check yesterday which was postmarked 12/26/2017, again confirming once again the check did not go out when it was promised to.

The manner in which I was treated, the financial strain this placed on me, the unethical nature of a broker selling your products, the time to process a refund in a timely manner is unprofessional and unacceptable.
