After the consumer accepted my proposal to paint her house she started letting me know we could only work on her house while she was there. She has a full time job and we could only work there on her days off. I did not know this at the start....
We started power washing her house and her windows and doors were in bad shape. We do not get close to them for fear of damage. We explained this to the consumer and explained we would scrape, prime, and paint around the windows and doors. She wanted filler where paint peeled off. No one does that. I have been in business since '88 and no one has requested anything like this. We offered to do it at additional cost and the consumer was not ok with this. The next time we returned, we found our equipment had been locked in the consumers garage by the consumer. We knocked and rang the door but no one would come. She had a HVAC person working there the same day. I asked if the consumer was home and they replied she was and they had just spoken to her. I went back to the house and knocked on the door; no answer. I called her cell phone and she said my equipment was in her garage and it was now unlocked and we could get it. She wouldn't even come to the door and talk to me.
I spoke to her about rescheduling and the scope of work and explained I would not be able to complete the proposal because she was adding things to it and did not agree with the rise in price. I explained I felt I would not get paid because of her behavior. I told her I would not charge her for the two days of work we had. I was walking away from the job. She would not accept the fact that the things she wanted to add on would cost more to do so.
