Rusting is common with Cast Iron Stoves. A simple google search indicates that rust appears when moisture comes in contact with the metal. It also provides various ways to rid the stove of the rust and some old and new solutions to treat the stove after the rust has been removed.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
I’ve attached three photos to show the matter. The last time I spoke with the company, the representative gave me a list of several causes for rust (specified in my original complaint), all which were not their responsibility. The company's current response to this Revdex.com complaint is another shrug-off ('it's normal, to be expected, and is routine maintenance'). They never mentioned this previously and, though this reason is different from all the other ones given before, it appears to be yet one more excuse to avoid any responsibility for their product. Their newly-proffered advice that I can remove the current rust and then search the internet for treatments in order to prevent more rust seems unhelpful – if such treatments help, why didn’t they do any when they made the stove, or at least disclose that they don’t do them and that they expect their stoves to rust within a couple years? To compare apples to apples: this rusting pellet stove was installed at the same time as a woodburning stove fireplace insert (a different brand and manufacturer), by the same installer. Both stoves are on the same floor, located about 30 feet distant from each other in rooms that are the same size, and each is connected to its own chimney with a chimney liner installed at the same time by the same installer. Both stoves are used each winter. The difference is that the pellet stove is rusting after 3 years and the woodburning stove has no rust at all. The cast iron adornments in my house (though not exposed to the heat of a fire) are decades old and also have no rust. When I am in the homes of other people who have pellet stoves, I don’t see rust or patches of spray paint from rust repair on theirs. Only this pellet stove rusts. The pellet stove's surfaces are prepped, primed, and painted in part to protect the metal from oxidation due to the atmosphere. When rust comes through the paint after such a short amount of time on this item and not on other manufacturers’ stoves, it indicates a problem with the product. It's common knowledge that certain automobile manufacturers have used poor quality steel and production methods, and their models are far more prone to early or heavy rusting than other cars of the same age in use in the same regions. I am confident that, though rust can be expected with time, a lot of rust appearing in one (and only one) still-relatively-new product, is indicative of bad quality (again I’ll speculate: a bad prepping/painting/finishing job that quickly failed to protect the metal from oxidation). Since the company’s Limited Lifetime Warranty specifies that it covers the iron body of the stove, I want the company to abide by their warranty claims. If the iron body parts of this one stove were not made right at that time, then the same parts made now presumably should be good and will not rust like these did. The company should stand by the quality of their pellet stove, which they claim on the internet is the product of years of their ingenuity and a collection of improvements over other pellet stoves. Replace those rusting iron parts with new ones and let’s see if they rust just as fast or not. This company’s service and commitment to their product have been consistently bad, starting with the lack of help from the first representative, continuing through the total lack of response from the company president’s office, then the immediately defensive second representative whose only offerings were excuses, and now including this current round of written excuse in response to my Revdex.com complaint. I expect more to come with a $4,000 purchase than hard work only in attempting to avoid all responsibility.
