Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union Reviews (16)

The worst bank in America
I was a 12 year member with Hudson valley credit union I had to leave because of rude employees no interest on any account hardly and every time I look on my account a new fee appears. If I don’t use my account I get a dormancy fee, if I use my account I get a transaction fee so how am I supposed to avoid a fee, this is a credit union remember it is supposed to be a people friendly bank but there are countless fees and no interest. I was also getting hacked with this bank so much because they have poor security. If you have Hudson valley credit union close your account if you are thinking of getting an account with them don’t. I had moved on to this like chase and capital one bank which have been more friendly to me less to no fees and higher yield.

I have been a hvfcu member since 1969. I have had a line of credit all of that time. Since my credit rating droped for one quarter only to 530 the hvfcu dropped my credit line. After complaining to them I received a letter from them saying too bad in so many words. This stinks I have never missed a payment with them since 1969 and that doesent count. They gave me a case number of bkm-2018-1279843 and referrals to phone numbers to resolve this issue that don, t exhist.. And an ext of 3210 which never calls back.

I have an auto loan through HVFCU, with automatic payments setup at time of purchase, the set up was Bi-weekly deductions, 1st and 3rd monday of each month. April 2014 to about June 2016 was perfectly fine, never had a returned payment or anything. After, June 2016 I started getting hit with late fees, and was never notified of these late charges that my account was starting to secure. Until February 2018, when I called for a deferment because I was out of work and needed an extra couple weeks to get everything back in order, only when I called for the deferment was I notified that my account was being closed, and to get the deferment and bring the account up to date I will need to first pay $480, then they will send me the deferment forms via email. I paid the amount over the phone and signed and returned the deferment forms along with the $30 fee. Also, they were supposed to launch an investigation to find out what happened and how the account became late. The first investigation was supposed to happen in February 2018 when I initially found out, and when I called 1 month later to check status of the deferment and the investigation the deferment never happened also they had no note of the investigation as the previous person I spoke to never put it through, so we tried again a second time, same thing no investigation no deferment, and now my account is being closed I have a $2300 bill and no answered to anything. This is one S[redacted]T company to deal with, mind you I have all my bank statements going back to 2014 showing all the deductions made by HVFCU on time and not 1 return. They screwed up, I am about 99.9% positive their investigation shows they made a mistake, but qont admit to their screws up so now I have to pay through the nose. I dont even know what to do at this point, a repossession on my credit will be a huge hit and it wony even be for something I screwed up. Worst worst worst treatment for average working people trying to get by. Disgusting heartless bankers

Review: We have had an Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union account for years. This month we got our first bill ever for servicing the account for the period of Sept 2014 - August 2015 (dates that are in the future). We called up and questioned the charge, saying we would prefer to close the account. We were told this could not be done, and that this billing was final and that we had been provided written notice of this billing.

This is outrageous for several reasons:

1) We have never been charged an account service fee for the decade or so we have been members. We had no reason to expect this fee or be on the lookout for such a notice.

2) We have signed no contract stating we agree to pay such a fee.

3) As of writing this complaint (8/**/14) that service period has not even begun, so there should be no cost to their business.

This policy obviously exists to take advantage of customers who are not paying attention and is highly unethical.Desired Settlement: The company should change its policy, billing for future servicing an account is unethical, and refusing to refund before that period has even started is more unethical. I'd like a refund but would most like to have the company change its policy.

Either way I will be closing my account.

Your right the hvfcu and chase are out for themselves and not for you when I joined in 1969 it was known as the ibm credit union and was a grate place to bank and borrow money at a reasonable rate.. Since they expanded to take in everyone else they are no better than any other bank

Review: [redacted] I was looking to finance my home into a lower mortgage rate and contacted Hudson Valley Credit Union (HVCU) . I was told that I could refinance my home at a lower rate than my current rate. My process to refinance with HVCU started on [redacted]. I was charged $12. for a credit report, $475.00 for a home apprassail and $600.00 to lock in my rate at a 3.75%. I made a transaction which HVCU told and then I was told that they were not able told that they were not able to process a direct deposit from another bank because my acct. number was wrong. I only found out because I call them to find out why my funds were not moved to their acct. That took several days. Then I was told the bank will contact me about my appraissal which took another several days to get an appt. from their appraisal company, Then they e-mail me that estimated fees for my loan were $1376. and I had to have that money in my HVCU bank acct. Then the loan officer went on vacation for a week and I could not get information. I was told different stories about the process of the loan. Finally, I sent all my paper work, my credit report was good and now they are asking me to add more money to my acct. to lock in my rates another month longer. I told I did not have this kind of money and this was the reason to refinance because I wanted my rate go down/ I was then contact days l (just as my rate locked-in expired) that I needed to have $999.99 because of [redacted], and[redacted] requirements. NEVER WAS TOLD ABOUT THIS. I let HVCU that I was 60 years old and did not understand my about this refinancing things, Can you please help me!Desired Settlement: There should be an explanation especially to the older people who do not understand what the refinancing is about. I feel that If I had been told that I need $999.99 I would've add that on to my mortage and not ask them for refinance. I knew the value of my home because I told them then they told me arter that my house did not appraised (75% what ever that means). Thank you

Dear

This firm represents the Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union (hereinafter "HVFCU"). I am writing

in response to your letter to HVFCU dated August **, 2013.

Ms. [redacted] and several HVFCU real estate processors worked with Ms. [redacted]

throughout the loan process to answer any questions she might have and to assist Ms. [redacted]

with the documents required to complete the loan process.

The specific information regarding the amounts required to close the loan were sent to Ms. [redacted]

in a letter dated June **, 2013 and followed up with an email. On June 28, 2013, HVFCU received

information that Ms. [redacted]'s home appraisal came in low. Ms. [redacted] was offered options

to complete the loan process, including decreasing the loan amount and paying some closing_ costs out of

pocket Ms. [redacted] was also informed that any taxes appearing on the title would be due at closing and any

overpayment would be refunded to her at a later date. This information was also emailed to Ms. [redacted] on

July **, 2013. On July **, 2013, HVFCU emailed Ms. [redacted] to provide specific responses to her questions

and explained that she would need additional fonds to close because of the home appraisal.

On July **, 2013 HVFCU sent Ms. [redacted] a Mortgage Commitment Letter that reflected a lower loan amount due

to the low home appraisal with a condition for the housing reserve required. To accommodate Ms. [redacted], the loan

was restructured to have the second lien subordinated instead of paid off in full. This restructuring delayed the process

further as additional documents were required. HVFCU emailed back and forth with Ms. [redacted] in excess of 15 emails

from May **, 2013 through July **, 2013 answering her specific questions and providing information regarding the loan

To summarize, the lower home appraisal required a restructuring of the loan to have the second lien subordinated. This

required additional documentation which delayed the process. HVFCU considers the investigation into the matter raised by

Ms. [redacted] to be resolved. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need additional information about this matter.

Very truly yours.

Review: My son died in a car accident in December 2012. I am the primary borrower on the loan. His insurance carrier, [redacted], only allowed liability because my son had not had photos taken of the vehicle. Gap insurance was purchased when the car was purchased and also, when the car was no longer fully insured by [redacted], the bank added collateral protection insurance (CPI) to the loan. I contacted the bank in January regarding my son's passing and asked if there was a way to resolve the loan. I was told there was nothing that could be done and I would have to pay the loan. I made payments, and in March, the bank sent a letter demanding the title to the vehicle "or risk default" on the loan that was current. I obtained the title from the DMV and took it to the bank. Suddenly it was revealed that I did have options to take care of the balance on the loan. Gap insurance was mentioned, and also the CPI through another company called State National. I was led to believe a claim was made at that time (March) but that "it would take time". In September, the bank sent another letter demanding I provide proof of insurance on the vehicle, or another CPI would be added to the loan (2000 dollars). I went to the bank to explain (again) that the car was destroyed in a wreck in which my son had died, and asked the status of the claim. I was told no claim was ever processed. Another claim was made in September. It was immediately turned down by State National because the car had, nine months later, been disposed of. My complaint is that the bank led me on a wild goose chase, with lots of visits and papers passing hands and nothing done. I still make car payments and it looks like there is no end in sight. I am prepared to contact a lawyer.Desired Settlement: I would like the loan settled either by State National or the bank since they were notified of my son's passing as early as January and gave misleading statements regarding the coverage of the loan through CPI. I was told I had no options initially. Later, I was told there WERE options and that a claim was made, (March) and no claim was made. Now, I am being told they are "trying to help" and I still being led on wild goose chases and in the meantime, I am paying the loan. I want my money refunded and the loan settled.

Review: We recently made a $1,433.99 purchase with our Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union debit card that was damaged within the first 30 days (60 inch LED TV). I contacted the credit union concerning warranty coverage and low and behold, after being sent to several different channels over a period of a week was told the program no longer existed. My frustration is in that the coverage is still posted on their website and I believe should still be honored. Please advise on next steps of how to handle. Review: Ive been having problems with my Chase account and Hudson valley Federal Credit Union receiving my payments via online payments since May. Ive been on the phone with them numerous times and twice they have marked my Experian credit report 30 days late. In May they corrected the problem and removed my past due from my credit report, then it happened again with payments going threw then months later getting messages unable to locate. On my end everything looks good, then I just get a message from Experian saying late payment notice. Hudson Valley doesn't call or send letter until they mark me late. I have numerous of credit cards that I do not have any issues with but they tell me its my fault and they cant do anything for me. I feel its not an error on my part and would like a thorough investigation. Any other information you may need please contact me. I have attached the original letter to Hudson Valley. I confirmed via a 3 way conversation with Chase, myself and Hudson Valley that all my back information is correct and Chase confirmed that is was correct.Desired Settlement: I was looking to have my credit report (Experian) 30 past due hit removed due to it not being my error. I have explained to Hudson Valley and they understood but said they could not do anything about it.

This firm represents the Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union (hereinafter "HVFCU"). I am writing in response to your letter to HVFCU dated December [redacted] 2013. [redacted] of HVFCU worked with [redacted] to research why the on line payment process for [redacted] cred it card account was returning an "Invalid Account" remark and con sequent ly affecting [redacted] Experian credit report.

After a thorough investigation, [redacted] determined that [redacted] or someone acting on his behalf had apparently transposed two numbers in the account number and therefore the payments were not able to process to the correct account.

[redacted] spoke with [redacted] and explai ned that, while the problem was not due to HVFCU error, HVFCU was going to adjust [redacted] cred it report to avoid any negative remarks associated with this specific issue.

HVFCU considers the investigation into the matter raised by [redacted] to be closed. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need additional information about this matter.

Review: I have over $600 in my checking account and I asked HVFCU to send me a check for $600 to myself but I never received it. Then I decided to write a check to myself with my check book. They charged me a non-sufficient fund of $35. When I asked the customer representative to refund me the fee she said it is not their fault. She said that they debt my account when the sent me the check that I never received. They completely blamed it all on me when they did not send me a check. This is unbelievable. I will file a scam with government website next.Desired Settlement: Refund my NSF fee.

Sincerely,

Review: I made a several purchases with my debit card and when I saw my statement I noticed I had been charged privilege pay fees before the charges went through so that when the charges were filled I was given more Privilege pay fees. When I look at my statement I notice they charged me for not having money in my account, but when you look over the charges you see that I was charged a fee when I did in fact have enough money to cover the cost of the purchase. When I went to my local branch I was told by two different staff members that it was my problem that I was charged this way.Desired Settlement: I would like to be reimbursed for the fees that were not appropriate for my account and that my account reflect what actually happened.
