Review: I retained Mr Nixon for $875.00 on 3/26/14 for a separation agreement between me and my husband. I was told on that date that within about a week I should receive a rough draft of the agreement which I can make corrections to and email back to him. I did not receive anything until 4/21/14. I went over the agreement, sent it back to him and received a response from him 4/22/14 asking me if I wanted him to mail to me (to take to my husband to sign) or if he could mail to my husband. I told him he could mail it to him and gave him the address. During the week of May 5-9 my ex had told me he hadnt received anything, so I called the lawyers office because I was unsure if my ex was just trying to hold everything up. I called and Nixons paralegal told me that they were mailing it out that day, and apologized for the hold up. 2 days later I get a call from one of his paralegals asking for my ex's address because she was mailing the agreement. So I was lied to and gave the address again. Everything then went pretty smooth. Until 7/25/14 when I went in for my deposition (and paid Nixon 961.00). I was told on that date that everything would be submitted before 8/1/14 because Nixon was going out of town 8/1-8/15. He told me I could go online and check the courts website to see the date it closed but he would mail the decree to me when he got back from his vacation. I went on the website on 8/27/14 and saw my case still open. so I called his office and was told that Nixon had not reviewed it yet. it was sitting in his chair waiting on approval from Nixon, before sending to the judge for the final divorce decree. I was upset but didnt say anything. I then called on 9/4 for a status. I was called back today 9/8/14 and told they are mailing me an affidavit to sign, because a deposition is only good for 21 days. so I have to sign (in front of a notary) this affidavit stating that the deposition is still accurate. I am confused why I wasnt mailed this on 8/27/14 when I called, I wasnt even told this on 8/27. My deposition was 7/25/14. When nothing was done on 8/15/14 (21 days later), I should have been mailed this affidavit, instead of just having to wait around and call myself. and on 8/27/14 when I called why wasnt I told that this was no longer valid? why wait another 2 weeks to mail me the affidavit, and why did I have to call for a status on 9/4 before anyone even looked at my papers and realized the deposition wasnt valid any longer, especially when I was told it would be sent in before 8/1/14? How long would this have gone on if I didnt call once a week?Desired Settlement: I just want this done and over with. maybe a discount since services were not done within the time frame agreed. Its frustrating to pay someone in full for services, when they are not providing the service. im not making payments, im not late on a payment. I paid the office the day they told me they were doing the work. and 6 weeks later, I have to call to check on the people that were already paid for the work that they arent doing.

I have reviewed the complaint and left a message on Ms. [redacted] voice mail today. I am trying to work something out with her and hope to talk with her no later than Monday on that.

Concerning the complaint, the time frame for both agreement and the divorce is certainly not outside the boundaries of a reasonable time frame to get work done (i.e. 3 months from date of hire to date of divorce). The problem is that I made representations (which were probably unrealistic) to [redacted] concerning the time frame. That create expectations and I understand that. [redacted] notes that she probably would not have had a problem with at least some of the delay if she had not been told it would be done quicker.

At any rate, the last piece of her divorce is the entry of the Final Decree. It was delivered to the Court house on September 15th and if it has not yet been entered yet, should be entered in the next week.

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

This is also news to me. When I came into Nixon's office to sign the affidavit on Wednesday 9/10/14 I was told it was being mailed right away from Nixon himself. But per below it was mailed 9/15, the following Monday. I agree that if I was given more adequate time frames I wouldn’t be upset. but this continues to be disappointing because every time frame I've been given is far off from what I'm told.

The divorce is concluded. I was at the Roanoke County clerk’s office yesterday. I was told that the Judge signed the Decree September 17th. If you check the online docket, the Decree shows up as being signed on September 17th. The clerk has it and it should be processed and in my box in the next week.
