Approximately 3 years I go I signed up for a membership with this gym. I gave them my bank account information to autodraft (requirement per their contract)my payments.THEY NEVER DID!!!!!!I never heard from them. NO letter no phone call no nothing!!!!Since I never had any payments come out of my account, I never used the gym. I didn't feel it was right to use their equipment since it wasn't being paid for.I forgot all about the gym. THen in June of this year, I receive a letter from a collection agency wanting me to pay them 616.00 for this membership. I wrote a letter refusing to pay it cause it was Humboldt Fitness's error not mine.I never heard anything from them and last week I was reviewing my credit report and saw where it has been placed on my credit.Desired SettlementI want this off my credit. PERIOD!!! I do not feel I owe them ANYTHING and want this resolved.Business Response In regards to the complaint you received. [redacted] signed a contract on 8/16/2010. The contract amount was $40.00 a month for one year and the amount was to be directly withdrawn from a debit card. I have copies and can send them to you if you need them. [redacted] account was continually behind. We use a company that takes care of the direct withdrawal; [redacted]. The first payment was taken out 9/17/10 and the following month the card was cancelled, leaving the 11 months remaining on the contract unpaid. [redacted] send out statements every month if there is a problem with any of the billing or account problems. This was before I worked here, but the gyms protocol is to call the customer as well. I never had ONE payment withdrawn from my checking account from these people. NOT ONE letter was EVER sent to my house and not one phone call ever made to my cell phone from this company. I have NEVER had my debit card cancelled by my bank. It is the same card that I have had for years!I also have a question to ask, if they used a so called company to debit my account, could this company be at fault?They screwed up and just figured out they never collected any money from me on that account and now want me to pay for something I never even used!!!!!!Final Business Response case# [redacted]We have sent a copy of the signed contract. That is money [redacted] owed us for time used at the gym. Also the transactions when ran said pick up card, that has to do with her bank. I know if I had signed a contract and the Money wasn't taken out of my account, I would get the problem fixed and not take advantage of the services I was using. Once again I wasn't working here at the time, but like I said the gym has it's protocols. All 3 members on the account came to workout and then stopped like they didn't want to continue to work out.
