Hummels Drywall and Painting

Review: My wife and I hire Hummel's Drywall and Painting to gut and remodel our Kitchen and to preform drywall repair, to install an overhead light and to paint the bedroom. The agreement was for a set amount of money to perform the work plus materials. There were some unexpected issues that arose during demolition and resulted in increasing the initial agreed to amount. Our final agreement was to pay this contractor $9,000 plus pay for any materials he needed for the project. We provided several draws to pay [redacted]'s Drywall and Painting. The Draws totaled $14,038.50 which covered the agreed to $9,000 plus materials. We asked Mr. [redacted] to provide receipts for the materials purchased and used during the remodeling. Please note at this point, the remodeling was not completed. At this point the contractor provide us with minimal receipts totaling less than $200. We informed him that he would get no more draws until receipts were provided. He had also been working at our remodeling for more than 90 days which was more than two times the amount of time the job should have taken. He hired a subcontractor to assist him in his work and introduced him to us. After this initial meeting, Mr. [redacted] showed up only once more briefly. The subcontractor hired by Mr. [redacted] asked us to pay him for his work. We refused and informed the subcontractor that Mr. [redacted] hired him to for the project and that Mr. [redacted] was to pay him for his surfaces. Both the Sub contractor called . [redacted]'s Phone Number and left messages informing him that he needed to pay the subcontractor for the work. Mr. [redacted] of [redacted]'s Drywall and Painting Did Not return my call and he informed the subcontractor that HE would not pay him. Understandable, the subcontractor refused to complete the remodeling. We both attempted to contact Mr. [redacted] concerning this issue but our calls and messages went unanswered. Our remodeling job was abandoned by Mr. [redacted]. We had to hire another contractor to complete the work.Desired Settlement: WE would like to be refunded for the $3,156.84 that we advanced for materials that the contractor has not justified with receipts. We also want reimbursed $900.00 that we paid another contractor to finish the remodeling. Finally, we want reimbursed for $315 for materials and for construction debris removal. Total reimbursement is $4,371.84
