Please see attached response to complaint - sorry for the delay in response.  I was out for surgery and had no one else to take care of this for me.
To whom it may concern:

On July 14th 2016 Mr.[redacted] had called our attention to a backed up drain. He stated that his cousin was a...

friend of his that had referred him to me.  I (Robert with HD Services) sent our technicians out to clear the stoppage. There was no clean-out access to the sewer line so HD Services proceeded by pulling the toilet and used the pipe opening as access for the snake machine.
Snaked approximately 15’ down the line to clear the stoppage.  Mr.[redacted] was happy about clearing the stoppage but also questioned why the stoppage had occurred so soon after he had just purchased the house one week prior to this main sewer stoppage.  We do not offer any warranties with stoppages.  HD Services reset the toilet and charged Mr.[redacted] a very fair low price after considering the referral in the amount of $250.00.  He was satisfied.
On Saturday July 16th 2016 Mr.[redacted] placed an emergency service call to state his sewer/toilet was backing up again.  On that day we set up an afternoon service call to respond to his request. Our service technician arrived to confirm the status of the main line stoppage, but thought something else was going on other then the same problem. Under normal usage this is not a typical outcome. I was alerted of this finding at approximately 11:00 am.  I, Robert with HD Services, joined the service in progress.  Our service technician was digging up the back yard approximately where the sewer pipe was at [redacted]’s request.
Upon my arrival, our service technician had found that the PVC sewer pipe out from the house, approximately 8 feet.  I and our service technician continued to dig and tried to find the entrance tee and lid to [redacted]’s septic tank.  At this time, [redacted] was trying to reach his real estate agent so that I would be able to describe the situation and the problem.
[redacted] was telling me to continue with the service as he talked on the phone with his agent.  At one point, the agent [redacted] with [redacted] Realty was asking why the septic company did not clean the tank as they said they had on their report.  She also stated that the entrance baffle was dug up for part of the cleaning process.  My response was, not only did the septic company give you an incomplete service and charge for a complete service, but they also did not check the sewer pipe that is a concrete pipe connected to PVC from the house and has been leaking into the soil for some time.
The agent was amazed by the septic company not completing their work. If they had completed their work, our services would never have been needed. We completed by back snaking through major chunks of grease while flushing the sewer for relief into the septic tank. Cleared the tank completely of heavy grease.
[redacted] was very upset with the septic tank company and his real estate agent for not handling this condition before he purchased the home. He continued to ask that we write up our bill in detail so that they will pay the cost. He stated he could not afford such a bill and that his real estate agent, or the septic company would be covering the costs.
Our services were guaranteed over the phone by [redacted] with [redacted] Realty   because she wanted to take care of [redacted], which she stated was the fair thing to do. I agreed that [redacted] should not have to pay for the incomplete service and inspection by the septic company.
I told [redacted] that the way this works is “You called out for our services. I will submit a bill for our services to you and you are the responsible party to pay us.” He did not seem to have a problem with our arrangement to be paid. I was clear with the real estate agent over the phone - and [redacted], that our bill is going to be around $1,500.00 to $1,800.00. As soon as I got back to the office on Monday I would get the invoice out to them. They both agreed to our arrangement.
After receiving our invoice for services, [redacted] turned our bill into his real estate agent. In turn, the real estate agent then passed our invoice along to the septic company. The septic company did not want to pay the bill. They refused to pay for any services due to “no phone call” by the real estate agent or from [redacted] acknowledging the problem.
In good faith, we trusted [redacted] and his real estate agent [redacted] with [redacted] Realty, that this would be taken care of. [redacted] was calling me to plead his case and that he was sorry and asked if we could take payments to help him out. Given the fact that [redacted] came to us as a referral, I agreed to set him up on a payment plan, an aggressive one so that no interest would be added to his bill. He agreed over the phone. However, after our agreement to write a payment contract he called me the next day (August 2nd 2016) and stated that his real estate agent is going to now pay for the invoice. Upon no return call, after leaving two messages with [redacted]’s real estate agent, I then called [redacted]- worried that this may not end well. Sure enough, [redacted] said he cannot pay and will have to sue him for the money. His real estate agent is not going to pay anymore for the repairs and that is it.
The next thing received was a complaint against our company that (somehow we are the “bad guys” here and [redacted] some how was not aware of this situation every step of the way). [redacted] was informed of the costs, the reasons behind why this had happened, and our willingness to help him with a payment plan.
This was an emergency sewer call on a weekend.  [redacted] was having his anniversary, and he had just purchased the home. We came out on a Saturday to examine the problem and perform some major work to relieve his immediate problem, and this is how we are now treated.
As I told [redacted], you must pay your bills. I was willing to work with him. I do not understand why it has come to this.  I told [redacted] if we did not receive payment that we will start collection services and/or file a lien against him with our atttorney.

Sincerely,

Dottie P[redacted] - Owner
HD Services, LLC

RE:  file & Attorney

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because: H.D. Services is lying. They never did outside drainage work, and the work that they did inside do had to be redone. Using my tenants as an excuse is ridiculous. This company also has changed there name just 3 months after this job. I will be contacting the State of Washington's attorney general soon. I have documentation and photos that prove this company ripped me off.Sincerely,[redacted]
