Hursh's Landscaping, Inc. Reviews (9)

Great ideas, poor service! We started out with a hillside of weeds and ended up with some lovely landscaping, being taken over by a sea of various types of mushrooms! Apparently the mushrooms came in the mulch. Hursch's wouldn't do anything to fix this problem. Apparently they have enough business that a few bad reviews don't matter to them. We had such high hopes too.

Dear [redacted],This letter is in response to the complaint from [redacted] against Hursh's Landscaping, Inc. in regards to termination of service for his Mother's property.
We did receive [redacted]'s correspondence to terminate the services we performed...

for the property at [redacted], Emmaus PA [redacted]. During the week of July 14th we received a letter stating that he would be selling the property and we should not perform any work after July 21st. Unfortunately it did take some time to get into the scheduling system for lawn maintenance. We did mow the property 1 time after the date we were told the property was sold. Unfortunately our business and our employees were under great stress during that period due to the death of 2 of our workers. It seems that the cancellation of services was overlooked on our part and we did apologize for that to [redacted] and assured him that he was not responsible for the service. Once we were notified that we had made the error and he was billed for unwanted services we cleared his account balance. The second bill that he received for fertilization was mistakenly sent to him for service performed at the new property owners' request. Our booker keeper entered the address in the system and found his name associated with his house. This was an honest mistake and the correct homeowner have been billed directly. We have since rectified that bill and once again [redacted] has no balance with our company.
[redacted] has filed a complaint with the Office of Attorney General as well and we are currently working on restoring our good reputation with them. We are not sure what [redacted] expects from us other than an apology and not to be charged with any services beyond the closing date. We were under the impression that by doing both of those things we had resolved any issues [redacted] had with Hursh's Landscaping.Sincerely,Shawn H

 Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:  The response from Hursh's Landscaping Inc. is totally rejected and unacceptable.  The company only provided past emails as a response to meet Revdex.com time frame.  The emails do not show my initial complaints to them in the summer of 2014 addressed to Jason G[redacted], Design/ Build Manager.  This was just two years after installation of the patio.  Hursh company addresses my deteriorating joint material (polymeric sand) problem as only a "situation", "concern", and "Issue" but never recognizes or addresses it as a problem. Missing joint material between pavers is a serious problem which allows water to enter and freeze under the pavers and then expand creating vertical separation of the paver surface. The missing joint material was very extensive.
It is very obvious Hursh did not exercise a defense in their response to Revdex.com concerning my complaint about the softening/deteriorating, and missing polymeric sand joint material for the reason they will not admit guilt to an installation error.  Hursh, in conversation placed blame on the manufacturer of the sand and said I would have to deal with them myself. Though Hursh said they were in communication with the polymeric sand manufacturer, Hursh never shared the results.  It is my opinion the real problem was an installation mistake. Never-the-less, my contract is with Hursh's Landscaping Inc., and not another company.
Hursh made an installation mistake and will not admit it to me. They are not providing a warranty repair on the patio and they wanted $600 to do the repair. They have breached our contract which clearly states "ALL Labor is Warranted for Five (5) Years from the Date of Completion".
I had to hire a second contractor to do the repair before winter set in to prevent winter weather damage to the pavers.  I want a full reimbursement of the cost to repair the patio by the second contractor in the amount of $408.10 from Hursh's Landscaping Inc.
Thank you,
Regards,
[redacted]

Good Afternoon I am going to be forwarding the multiple emails that are/were in response to Mr. [redacted]’s Claim to Revdex.com. Please see below. Sincerely Shawn Marie Hursh

We are having a client issue we are hoping to have some assistance with. We always follow ICPI practices when installing patios, walks, etc. We have seen some applications where the sand is staying somewhat flexible and turning black. One patio in particular we overlaid an existing concrete patio and extended it with a new base. The area of overlay, the sand is tan and solid. The remaining areas are as I previously described. Is this common in a patio 3 years young? The homeowner is very upset about this. From what I have seen this can be a common thing? We keep two crews busy all season with hardscaping using almost all Techo Bloc, and have been using the RG Plus for years. We also provide the clients with a five year craftsmanship warranty to stand behind our work. Please give me some advice to forward to this client. If you want a better idea of the quantity of work we do please contact [redacted] at [redacted].Thanks, Jason G[redacted]

Review: Hursh's Landscaping is continuing to perform maintenance services on a property that I no longer am associated with since July 21, 2014. The property in question, [redacted], Emmaus, PA [redacted] belonged to my Mother was sold as of July 21. 2014. I notified Hursh's two weeks prior to settlement in a phone message and I also sent a letter stating that their services were no longer required. There is also no agreement between myself and the new owners to continue Hursh's services after the July date and settlement of the property.

Several days after settlement, Hursh mowed the lawn and billed me directly. I then sent a certified letter stating they need to stop services immediately and sent along payment for all services prior to July 21, 2014.

The letter was never picked up and subsequently returned to me. I personally retrieved the letter from the post office and delivered it in person to their office. I spoke to a woman there, and she said that she would relay my message and she accepted the payment.

I was under the assumption that Hursh had stopped services on the property. I received a bill dated November 1, 2014 for lawn fertilizing done on October 16, 2014 in the amount of $87.98.

I'm asking for help in settling this matter.Desired Settlement: I would like Hursh's Landscaping to recognize that their services are no longer needed. Any services performed after July 21, 2014 are not my responsibility for payment. I would like all services billed to me after that date including but not limited to the November 1, 2014 bill nullified.

Hursh's Landscaping Inc. contracted with me to install a paver patio in the summer of 2012. In the year 2014, just two years after completion, the material in the joint areas in between the pavers began to deteriorate, discolor, soften and fall out from the patio. This left voids in the area of the joints exposing the area to water penetration.
In the summer of 2014 the company patio design and salesman came to look at the problem after a phone call from me. During his visit he patched some of the joint areas that were missing the material in between the pavers. This material is called polymeric sand when first applied and contains concrete. It is designed to harden when installed properly and become solid in the spaces in between the pavers. However, the patio joint areas continued to deteriorate.
The following year, June 2015 I contacted the design/salesman again and told him the problem is getting worse. Nothing was done. Finally in early July 2015, I contacted the owner Shawn Marie Hursh about the problem. In September 2015 after a number of emails back and forth she finally came to look at my patio.
Her conclusion was it was not her problem but a Polymeric Sand problem and I would have to deal with the manufacturer of the polymer material. She said she would repair the patio for the cost of $600 for the labor.
In my contract with Hursh, It says in writing " Techo Block Paver Materials do come with a Lifetime Warranty, all Labor is Warranted for Five (5) Years from the Date of Completion".
Hursh has breached this contract be not providing repair of this patio at their cost and expects me to pay the cost of material and labor to reinstall this material.
This company does not backup their work and ignores their customer contracts. My recommendation is not to do business with Hursh's Landscaping.
