Initial Business Response /* (1000, 12, 2015/08/04) */
We replaced Mr. [redacted]'s water heater on April 21, 2015...He has a home warranty coverage through First American Home Warranty of which we are subcontractors for. Our plumber went to his property and diagnosed that his water heater...

needed to be replaced due to it leaking, and also noted that he had some kind of a gas line corrosion which was a separate issue, no relation to the water heater. The protocol is for us being that we are subcontractors return the report to the plan holder's warranty company which we did in a timely fashion and the warranty company stated that he had limited coverage and that there would be some non covered issues and charges. These charges totaled around $435.00. The gas line situation was not covered, per his home warranty, therefore that was noted on the authorization form which is to be signed by each customer to approve the non covered charges of which Mr. [redacted] signed.
We contacted Mr. [redacted] to provide him with the details to the non covered charges. Mr. [redacted] was not happy with these charges and actually would not commit to them right away, it took him a couple of weeks to decide if he wanted to pay the non coverers, but he did, he also signed the authorization form of which he agreed to these charges. We installed the water heater and with non the non covered modifications. we did not include a drip pan, it was offered to Mr. [redacted] and he was irritated about the amount he had to pay that his home warranty didn't cover and therefore was not in agreement with paying a dollar more for anything further. A Drip pan would've been an additional 85.00 charge.
We received a phone call from his warranty company a few weeks before Mr. [redacted] called to complain of the fact that his water heater did not have a drip pan installed. The representative from First American also agreed, why is it that he's calling after several months? It really didn't make sense! She took down my report regarding the situation and I never heard anything..
Mr. [redacted] called our office and we pulled his information and we advised that if he wanted to have us return to install a drip pan, we would be glad to do it for a minimum charge of $150.00. This would entail draining the water heater and disconnecting it and having to install a new drip pan and reconnect and tested. He refused, he stated that why is it that we did not put one in at time of service, I argued with him and said if he remembers he wasn't happy about paying for the non covered charges of $435.00 therefore the drip pan was one more item of which he didn't want to pay for at time of service. But again offered that we can put one in for a minimum charge of $150.00.
Since then, Mr. [redacted] has harassed our business, he has called and hung up several times and even threatened ME that he would ruin our business and that he would do whatever it took in doing so. He has placed false information on Yelp.com and not has resorted to contact the Revdex.com.
We can refuse service to anyone, this person has been nothing but dishonest and we will NEVER return to his property ever again! He never wanted to pay for the non covered charges ( not our problem that his warranty company did not cover the entire installation of his new water heater) in the first place and didn't want to pay the additional for a drip pan therefore, he's trying to find fault so he can try and get something for free.
He can take his business elsewhere....WE HAVE BEEN INSTALLING WATER HEATERS FOR OVER 20 YEARS AND YET HAVE WE EVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH A CUSTOMER!!!!!!
Thank you and please confirm receipt.

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 14, 2015/08/05) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The business has falsified information in their response. [redacted] did not mention a water pan nor permits being required for the water heater. Since it is a requirement it should have been put into the initial mandatory costs which are not covered, but they were not their. This is mandatory and she should know better. Please review City Codes for Concord below.

Also as a customer who just purchased their first home, I admit that I was not aware a drain pan was needed until I had another plumbing company do a whole home inspection and that is the first thing they noticed. Then I started researching what the business did wrong. Also I started looking into their business reviews on Yelp and the truth speaks for itself. Their reviews are horrible and to this day I am probably one of the first customers doing anything about it.
This business needs to be held accountable for their actions once and for all or they will continue taking advantage of their customers like they have been doing for quite some time .
