Hydrotech Water Filtration

Review: I called hyrotech water filtration systems to come and service my water filtration system. calcium chloride need to be added. [redacted], the service man came on april **,2013 at 2 pm.he serviced my system and on may [redacted], my basement was flooded.I called hydrotech and reached their machine, but no emergency number was available.I called my plumber, petty plumbing and heating. [redacted] the service man responded and determined that too much calcium chloride had been added which clogged the backwash,creating the flooding.you could see the calcium chloride spewing from the tube.a day or two later [redacted] finally called me back and came over, at his leisure and cleaned up my basement, just the water.two days later the basement was flooded again and I could not reach anyone at hydrotech.as a single mother of four children, one of whom resides in the basement, I was very upset.we could not use the toilets or shower for fear of more water flooding the basement.I happen to know where [redacted], the owner of hydrotech lives, we live in a small town.he was out in his driveway washing his truck.I introduced myself and explained the situation.he tried to reach [redacted] and told me he would call me.at that point I left and went home.he did call and said [redacted] would not be over until 4pm.I stopped by his house about 11 - 11:30 am.shortly after [redacted] called, he stopped over and saw the mess in the basement. he called a plumber and a company to come clean up the water.he stayed around and monitored the situation.I let him use my house phone and we had a conversation and agreed that moving forward the goal was to figure out what went wrong and get my system up and running again.the last time I had the system serviced, by another local company, there was never a problem.it has been three plus weeks and I have not heard from [redacted].I have left messages and also hand wrote him a note, enclosing the plumbers bill, $156.42 from the initial flooding asking he take care of it, which has not be paid.no courtesy on a phone call.Desired Settlement: I want to be re-imbursed for the plumbers bill, as I have paid it and I want my system up and running like it was before hydrotech service man [redacted] touched it. my daughter and I have spent countless hours throwing things out and cleaning the mold up from this mess. she has been coughing non stop.

As per [redacted]'s complaint:

Hydrotech has been in business for 29 years and have never offered emergency service.

[redacted] the service tech from [redacted] Plumbing was wrong in that the filter was not overfilled by my tech but rather it was installed improperly originally by [redacted] Plumbing and Heating. The original installer had neglected to install a properly sized "flow control" on the main backwash line which then caused material to back up when the unit initiated a backwash. Since the filter was devoid of filtering media before we got there, of course it would never have backed up prior to recharging it.

The filter is neither our equipment nor was it installed by us in the first place.

When the basement flooded, in the interest of the customer, I immediately made emergency calls to [redacted] Plumbing and Heating and to Griffiths Service Master in order to both clear the lines and to do a professional cleanup of the area using a truck mounted industrial vac and an industrial dehumidifier which operated overnight. Both companies responded in less than 2 hours and we payed the bills. I did ask [redacted] if I could use her house phone as I did not have cell phone service at the house and I wanted to expedite the response of the companies called.

The filter is currently in the same state of disrepair as when we found it....no more, no less. The complainant will have to call [redacted] Plumbing and Heating for the correct parts to fix this unit because they are unfortunately unavailable to us.

I never received a note or a plumbers bill from [redacted] as she stated and I have absolutely no issue paying it as she has requested. Our mailing address is [redacted] as it has been for over 20 years. I have also put in a call to [redacted] Plumbing and Heating in Water Mill to ask them to send me a copy of their original bill so that I can write [redacted] a check ASAP.
